New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, Carrie Ann Ryan is revealing a chapter to her upcoming Ink Exposed, the sixth book in the adult contemporary romance series, Montgomery Ink, releasing November 29, 2016. See below for information the book, pre-order links, and the exclusive chapter reveal.
Ink Exposed (Montgomery Ink #6) by Carrie Ann Ryan
Synopsis The Montgomery Ink series continues with the brother that deserves a second chance, and the woman who has always loved him.
Alex Montgomery lost his first love and then proceeded to leave himself in the bottle. Only he and his ex-wife truly know why he fell so hard and so fast down a path he never thought he’d take. Now he’s clean, out of rehab, and learning how to be a Montgomery once again—a task that isn’t quite as easy as some of his family assumes.
Tabby Collins is an honorary Montgomery and the organizational mastermind behind Montgomery Inc., the family’s construction company. She loves her planners, friends, and a certain dark-haired man who’s never given her a second glance.
Alex is slowly re-immersing himself back into the world, but the demons he faced before aren’t out of the picture, and he’ll have to learn to rely on others to make it out whole. When Alex discovers that Tabby’s life is in danger, he not only finds a way to help her but also learns the true woman behind the soft smiles he’s always seen. Their romance won’t be an easy one, but nothing this passionate and heart-pounding ever is.
Excerpt Alex Montgomery didn’t need a drink. But he fucking craved one. This feeling wasn’t new, of course. The craving was always there. It burned in his gut, spiraled up his spine, and parched his throat. It clawed at him, seduced him, rammed into him like it couldn’t help itself. It was like an angry linebacker, screaming in one ear while a seductive temptress whispered sexy innuendos in the other, both of them telling him to just take one drink.
It would only be one drink, they taunted. Just one.Only it never ended at one drink.Because Alex was an alcoholic. He hadn’t had a drink soothe his parched throat, or tried to drown his demons in over a year. He still couldn’t quite believe it sometimes, and yet, other times it felt as if it had been so much longer. Sixteen months sober, but an addict nonetheless. No matter how many days passed and how many drinks he didn’t imbibe, he’d always be an alcoholic. That was something he’d learned to face over the past few months, but sometimes knowing it didn’t make trying to live a normal life any easier.
“You’re here early,” Marie Montgomery said as she made her way to his side. He’d been standing outside even in the cold Denver air, but his mother had found him anyway. He loved the scent of mountains and comfort that seemed to permeate his childhood home, and just looking at the woman who’d raised him made him feel that much closer to what he’d lost…and that much farther away from where he’d started.
His mother had aged well, he thought. To the point he wasn’t sure she’d aged at all. If her genes were what the family could go by when they got older, then most of his siblings were going to look just fine as they entered their fifties and sixties. Alex had probably pickled his liver during his depression so he figured it probably wouldn’t be quite the same for him. He’d more than likely end up harder-edged than his already edgy siblings. But that had been his choice at one point, and then out of his hands after he’d fallen too hard. Now, he’d face the consequences of his decisions. And it was about time he faced the aftermath according to his sponsor and therapist.
His mother wrapped her arms around his waist and held on tightly. He ignored the way his stomach tightened, and hugged her back, the action almost rusty. It hadn’t been easy these past few months to remember how affectionate his family had once been with him. He’d pushed them all away over time, and he was just now learning how to come back—if there were a way to come back. When he closed his eyes and inhaled the scent that had once calmed him, he prayed that one day he’d find himself tranquil again.
He used to drink to forget, and then, because he didn’t know anything else, he’d kept drinking. But now, he needed to remember, damn it.
He kissed the top of his mother’s head since she was so much smaller than he was and took a step back. She was a few inches shorter than all of her sons and even a couple of inches shorter than her three daughters. How Marie Montgomery had been able to raise eight kids as well as all of their friends who’d come to their home day after day was beyond him.
“I’m glad you’re here, though.” She patted his chest and looked up at him with worried eyes. She always held that worry now; and he knew it was his fault that it was there.
“I wouldn’t be anywhere else,” he said honestly. His mother’s eyes softened, and he figured he’d said the right thing. “I know the family dinner starts in a couple hours, but I wanted to come early and see if I could help.” Though their family was considered huge in this day and age, the immediate family members all lived within thirty minutes of each other in the Denver suburbs. Some of them had moved away for a year or two for school or life, but they’d all come back to Denver in the end. Once he’d gotten out of rehab, he’d considered moving away and starting over, but he’d just be hurting those who had loved him through all his crap. They’d stayed with him, pushed him toward the decision he’d had to make for himself, and now, he was glad he’d stayed in the city.
At least, that’s how he felt in that moment. With the way his mind kept going in a thousand different directions, he could change his mind again soon.
Since his parents were ecstatic that all of their babies were so close, they held family dinners twice a month. Sometimes, they made it happen more often; sometimes, they could only get everybody together once, but all of Alex’s siblings tried to make it when they could. Add in the fact that the rest of his family had been having children at an alarming rate recently, and their family dinners were always loud, full, and exhausting.
Once again, he ignored the tightening in his stomach.I can do this, he told himself again. He’d been normal once. He could try to at least play at being normal again.
“Anyway, you could have come right into the house, Alex,” his mother continued. “You didn’t have to come in through the backyard. You could have just come right in through the front door. No need to even knock since you’re one of my babies. Since the chemo and radiation treatments are over, your father wasn’t taking a nap like he used to.”
Alex’s father, Harry, had battled prostate cancer the year before when Alex had been going through his own self-induced downward spiral. Alex hadn’t been in any shape to be the kind of son Harry needed when he’d faced death and won. Thankfully, Alex had four other brothers who were far stronger than he was, and three sisters who kicked ass at anything they did.
“I wanted to walk the long way before I made it inside.” He shrugged, and she gave him a curious look. He sighed and pointed to one of the picnic tables on the large patio his father and his brother Austin had built over a decade ago. Austin was a few years older than Alex and had always been good with his hands. Yet it had been the next two siblings in the line, Wes and Storm, who had joined Harry in his construction company. While Austin had opened his own tattoo shop with their sister, Maya.
“I brought my camera in case you wanted photos or something and figured I’d see if anything caught my eye out here.” He didn’t look in her direction as he said it, suddenly self-conscious. He was a photographer and photojournalist by trade, but he’d lost many of his contacts when he found himself at the bottom of a bottle. He’d spent the past year trying to atone for his sins, making new connections and repairing the ones he’d broken, but he wasn’t quite there yet.
His mother put her hand on his forearm, and he looked down at her again. “I think that would be wonderful. Nothing formal I suppose since we didn’t warn anyone, but I’d love some shots of the family being who they are and just enjoying themselves. You were always talented at capturing that.” Tears filled her eyes, and she blinked them away, though not fast enough for him not to feel like a heel for putting them there. “I look forward to seeing what you come up with. You’re so talented.”
He nodded, swallowing hard. Maybe one day he wouldn’t feel like a stranger in the home he’d grown up in, but today wouldn’t be that day. Hell, he felt like a stranger in his own skin, let alone allowing space for anyone else to see who he was.
He didn’t even know who he was anymore.
Alex turned at the sound of the soft voice behind him, his heart suddenly beating just a bit faster, though he didn’t know why.
Tabitha moved toward them, a hesitant smile on her face as she studied him and his mom. She wore her light auburn hair up high in a ponytail, but he was pretty sure at one point she’d been blonde. Though it might have just been a trick of the light. If he were honest with himself, he couldn’t quite remember much of the past couple of years. She was a little above average height and all legs—legs he’d checked out more than once in the past year.
But he’d always pushed those thoughts aside, just as he would now. He was in recovery, damn it, and though he was past the year mark that most people suggested addicts wait to start a relationship, he knew that Tabitha wouldn’t be the woman he started up with once he was ready.

Synopsis “Smart and fast-paced with plenty of steam! This writing duo is a powerhouse of talent!” – New York Times bestselling author Sophie Jordan
He stole their riches, she stole his heart
The Marquess of Hawksfield’s lineage is impeccable and his title coveted, but Archer Croft is as far from his indulgent peers as he can get. His loathing for the beau monde has driven him to don a secret identity and risk everything in order to steal their riches and distribute them to the less fortunate.
Lady Briannon Findlay embraces her encounter with the Masked Marauder, a gentleman thief waylaying carriages from London to Essex. The marauder has stirred Brynn’s craving for adventure, and she discovers an attraction deeper than the charming thief’s mask.
Brynn is a revelation, matching Archer in intelligence, wit, and passion. Stubborn and sensuous in equal measure, she astonishes him at every turn, but when someone sinister impersonates Archer’s secret personality, and a murder is committed, Archer begins to think he doesn’t stand a fighting chance without her.
Excerpt “Why are you out here at this ungodly hour?” he asked.
“I could ask you the same thing,” she replied. “As well as why you are trespassing on private property.”
Archer smiled at her tone and leaned against a nearby tree, easing the weight of his injured ankle for the moment. There it was—the brief glimpse of the woman he’d met in Dinsmore’s carriage, not the quiet mouse he’d waltzed with. “Ah, but I believe this tree, right here,”—he slapped the trunk with a rakish grin—“marks the dividing line between my estate and yours. So technically, I’m on my property and you are on yours.”
Her eyes narrowed at his teasing before plucking up the tweed cap from where it lay on the ground and tugging it back into place upon her head. She then picked up the spent pistol and tucked it into the narrow, single holster gun belt looped around her waist. “No matter. It’s hardly any of your concern why I am out on my own land. Go on your way, and I’ll be on mine.”
His jaw dropped as she wound her fist into the horse’s bridle, loosely slung around its neck, and pulled herself deftly up onto the horse’s back. She sat astride in a way that made his pulse shorten. “Where is your saddle?” he managed.
She eyed him imperiously. “I don’t like them, not that it’s any of your business.”
“It isn’t safe,” he ground out, surprised by his sudden irritation.
“I’ve been riding without a saddle since I was a child,” she shot back. “I’m safer without one than I am with one.”
“As you were before you got thrown into the river?” Archer couldn’t resist taunting.
Her jaw jutted forward, a mutinous look in her eyes. She pressed her lips together, likely to stop herself from uttering something completely inappropriate. Perhaps one of the colorful words she’d been using while attempting to climb out of the gulch.
“And what if you were attacked by the masked bandit—again?” he continued. “Or haven’t you had enough danger for the time being?”
“I can protect myself,” she said.
“What with?” he asked before he thought of the clean hole in the boar’s forehead.
Briannon sighed dramatically. “Why, with my knitting needles, of course.”
Struck again by her lightning-quick wit, the short bark of laughter left his lips before he could contain it. “Pray, where was your pistol the other night when you were robbed?”
“In my knitting reticule, of course, where all ladies’ pistols are kept,” came her tart response. “I assure you, if I had my pistol, the outcome of that robbery would have been quite different.”

*All books in The Blueberry Lane Series can be enjoyed as standalone novels.*.
Excerpt #1 “You must be the famous Libitz,” he’d opened, taking his assigned seat beside her, and flashing his sexiest grin.
After all, if she was his chosen conquest for the weekend, there was no time like the present to work his wiles. Wearing a simple black sheath dress with aqua circles, 70s-style mod make-up and oversized silver and crystal chandelier earrings that almost brushed her thin shoulders, she’d turned to him and blinked those wide, all-seeing eyes.
“And you…must be kidding.”
Taken aback, he’d stared at her for a second before chuckling. “Wha—I mean, how’s that?”
“Let’s start over,” she said, cocking her head to the side. “Here’s your line, Romeo: “Hi, I’m Étienne’s brother, Jean-Christian. It’s nice to meet you.” Want to give it a try?”
He cleared his throat, his smile fading. “Hi, I’m Étienne’s brother, Jean-Christian. It’s nice to meet you.”
She locked eyes with his, her lips neutral, neither tilted up nor down. “Hi. I’m Libitz Feingold, Kate’s best friend…and it’s not cold enough.”
“It’s not cold enough in hell for me to fall for someone like you,” she said, then shifted back around to talk to the person on her other side.
Well, fuck me, thought J.C., taking another gulp of beer as he tried to figure out if he was insulted or impressed. After a moment, he nudged her in the side with his elbow and she looked at him over her shoulder, her expression annoyed.
“I hear the temperature’s dropping there,” he said casually, then added, “because they’re expecting a visit from you.”
“Ha!” she chortled, a genuine grin brightening her eyes for a moment before she quickly reigned it back in to practiced ennui. “Is that right?”
He shrugged, tipping his bottle of beer back as he held her eyes, challenging her to come back at him with something clever. “So I heard.”
“From all the friends you’ve got there?”
He almost spit his beer out. Damn, but she was quick.
“Truce?’ he asked, placing his beer on the table and holding out his hand.
She stared at his hand for a moment, then looked away, leaning forward to pick up her champagne glass and bringing it slowly to her lips. “No, thanks. Mama didn’t raise no fool.”
“You’re unreal.” She shook her head, that bored look still in place.
“Nope. I’m real. I’m just not a good target for charming scamps looking for trouble.”
“A target? Shit. Who got to you?” he asked, feeling a little abused by her insta-judgement of him without actually getting a chance to know him in person. Not that she was wrong exactly. But getting into trouble with the right person could be a hell of a lot of fun.
“The list is long and distinguished,” she shot back.
His eyes widened and his lips wobbled.
“Oh, God,” she said, shaking her head as her cheeks bloomed an appealing pink under her make-up. “I walked right into that one didn’t I?”
“Yes, you did,” said J.C. with what he hoped was a disarming grin. “All together, now…”
“So’s my Johnson,” they said at the same time, quoting the rebuttal line from Top Gun.
“Hey, look at that,” he said, still smiling at her. “You do know how to have fun. I was beginning to worry.”
Her smile instantly faded. “You’re not as cute as you think you are.”
“Yeah,” he said, nodding as he finished the last of his beer. “I am.”

After saving the world from sure annihilation, life can seem a little, well, boring. No one is trying to kill any of them…at least, not yet. But when the opportunity to go on a high stakes, life threatening, totally dangerous mission comes up, obviously they’re in. And this trip to New York? It just might be their undoing.
From bestselling author Kaitlyn Davis comes a paranormal romance perfect for fans of Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, and Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The first book in the series, Ignite, is available for FREE!
Excerpt Flinging herself sideways, Kira slammed against the ground inches from where the chandelier crashed to the floor. Glass shattered, blanketing her in a wave of sharp shards that sliced deep enough to draw blood, even through her dress.
“Are you all right, miss?” A waiter bent down.
Kira ignored him, jumping to her feet and brushing the glass from her hair, her clothes, her skin. Cuts she could deal with. Luke’s disappearance she couldn’t.
“Luke!” she yelled again, eyes piercing through the broken remains of the chandelier for a body caught underneath.
But just as her freak-out was reaching extreme heights, an arm slipped around her waist, yanking her into a warm chest. “Don’t you ever scare me like that again,” Luke murmured into her hair, kissing her brow fiercely.
Kira looked up at him. “Did we really say we missed having near-death experiences?”
“No, of course not. I thought we said we love having a totally boring life where nothing ever happens. Well, where almost nothing ever happens.”
But they’d already wasted too much time. “Is the sword gone?”
“Yeah.” He nodded, stepping back and giving her space. “And it’s moving fast.”
Kira crossed her arms, glancing down at the tattered shreds of her evening gown sadly. And then she walked to the nearest table, grabbed a steak knife, and cut the bottom of her dress off, revealing a little too much thigh but freeing her legs to run.
“Let’s go,” she said to Luke, who watched on, gaping.
“That was…” He trailed off.
“Hot, sexy, something from your wildest dreams?” Kira offered, teasing.
But Luke just nodded. “Uh, yeah. We might need to reenact this later.”
Kira grabbed his hands, pulling him through the party, which had devolved into utter chaos. “If we survive our meeting with this invisible, katana wielding, vampire thief, I’m in.”
Luke grinned. “I’ll take those odds.”
And then the chase was on.
Rave Reviews for the Midnight Fire series!
“The writing is effortlessly mind blowing. I could not put this entire series down. Once you’re hooked, you won’t either because it’ll eat you up not knowing what happened! And then you’ll pick a team like I did and you’ll fall in love with all the characters and you’ll want all the bad guys to die horribly! Just trust me when I say it really is your loss to miss out on this series! It’s a blaze of glory!” – Happy Tales and Tails Blog “Kaitlyn Davis writes some of the best action scenes I have come across in a young adult book; they are fast paced and so well delivered making this more than just a silly romance.” – Reflections of a Bookworm
“The only downside to this series, is that it ended. But the ending was beautiful.” – My Seryniti “Kira isn’t a human girl who is one dimensional and in love with a vampire. She’s a well-thought out character who comes to life from the pages and steals into your heart. Read the books. Do it.” – Urban Girl Reader “I love and hate how fast of a read this was! I love it because I couldn’t get enough of of it and hate it because once I finished I wanted more!” – I Just Wanna Sit Here And Read “I really enjoyed Ms Davis’s writing, I was riveted throughout and was eager to see what would happen – there was drama, danger, action and romance that was wonderfully detailed and described.” – Obsession With Books “You’ll make friends with Kira, choose sides with Tristan and Luke, and fall in love with the story at heart about a girl with so bright a future….even shades aren’t gonna cut it.” – Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers

Synopsis Life had never been easy for Rock God, Flynn Docherty. At a tender age, he’d locked down past personal tragedy, hurt, and pain to make his life bearable when most would have crumbled from what he witnessed. When Valerie Darsin entered into his life their instant attraction later grew into the kind of love that most of us can only dream about, after she’d survived her own traumatic event.
In many ways, they were two hearts that beat as one sharing a love so profound and rare they were destined to be together. Can two damaged people with tragic pasts really be what each other needs?
Unlucky in love, Valerie’s trust issues are never far from the surface and with her past full of hurt, and a man like Flynn, can Valerie ever truly accept how he feels? Driven in business Valerie is a ball-breaker but less confident in affairs of the heart. Do values like trust, honesty, love, and commitment really survive in a world where a rock star has millions of followers who are willing to do literally anything for their idol?
Excerpt #2 “There you are, babe, I was wondering where you’d gotten to. You need to tell Rita when you’re going anywhere,” Flynn said, with his voice full of concern.
“You knew where I was going. I told you.”
“Yeah, but you waited until Rita was checking the dressing room with Lee before you went. That’s not okay, Valerie. What if something were to happen to you? There are some crazy motherfuckers out there you know, and I’d never forgive myself if you were hurt on account of me.”
I did— I’d just had an altercation with one.
“Stop fretting. I’m here, and I’m fine. Let’s get the party over with so we can go back to the hotel and start packing.”
“You left out the part where we get down and dirty, babe,” he said, winking.
I’d been around Flynn long enough now to know he was trying to embarrass me and glanced at the others. They were all smirking as they waited for my come-back to him.
“As long as you don’t use those nipple clamps tonight, Flynn. The girls need a rest, they’ve been chaffing against the lace of my bra all evening.” I said, deadpan.
Lexi’s eyebrow rose in surprise like she regarded me as the good girl I was and smirked.
“What Lexi? You should see our personal collection of photographs where Flynn is handcuffed to my bed, and I have that certain flogger in my hand he’s so fond of.”
I was referring back to the time when he’d come to set up Daryl for cheating on me and when we’d ended up doing a racy photoshoot together in my study together.
Lexi and Craig started chuckling, and Flynn jumped to my defense, “I can vouch for that, I’m hard just thinking about that day,” he said, adjusting himself in his jeans in front of everyone.
There was still a look of disbelief on her face as she commented, “Flynn, I believe he looks a kinky bastard, but you, Valerie…you aren’t convincing me.”
Flynn glanced at me, his mouth pressed into a line, and I knew immediately he was annoyed she’d forced the issue.
“Sorry, babe, just that one, promise,” he pleaded, and I knew he wanted to shut her up for doubting me.
I shook my head, but smirked because I saw him pull out his cell and tapped furiously to find the picture I knew was the only one he still had on there.
“I need your permission to share, babe,” he smiled knowingly.
Pretending to think about it, I eventually let out a long sigh, shrugged my shoulders and nodded hesitantly, “Go ahead Flynn, but I have no idea why you need to prove anything. We know what goes on in our bed, isn’t that all that matters?”
Flynn turned the phone, and Jonah jumped down from the table he’d been sitting on suddenly interested as they grouped around the photograph. Craig and Jonah’s mouths slightly parted and their eyes flashed up to mine, and damn if I didn’t blush.
“Fucking hot,” Jonah said staring at me.
“Damn straight, my fucking hot, got it, Jonah?”
“Oh, absolutely. Window shopping only, Flynn,” he said, clearing the frog from his throat afterward because it came out in a gruff tone.

Not one single thing.
That was my boyfriend, Drew.
And that was the last time I saw him.

About the Book Title: Dazed and Divorced Series: Rom-Com on the Edge #1 Author: Carol Maloney Scott Release Date: October 24, 2016 Genre: Adult Romantic Comedy Links:Goodreads | Amazon
Synopsis It’s been almost twenty years since Claire met her ex in high school, and now she finds herself thrust into the dating world for the first time as an adult, armed with little more than confusion and lack of experience. Not only is Ron the only man she’s ever been with, she’s also coping with the loss of her fertility, and if she goes on one more hideous blind date – possibly her mind. Determined to avoid both online dating and meetup groups, she endures fix-ups with all sorts of memorable characters, such as weepy Pete, the drunk skunk, the cheap hot-dog eater, and let’s not forget – the unholy speed dater.
As Claire becomes more depressed over her plight, her best friend Jane prompts her to redirect her maternal longings by adopting an adorable wiener dog puppy. Dixie is not a human baby, but hopefully she will provide her new Mommy with a diversion from the parade of loony men marching through her lonely nights – that’s if Mommy’s house and sanity survive the destructive cyclone that is an untrained three-pound ball of craziness!
Unfortunately, while Claire is trying to move on, Ron is trying to pull her back into the past, and his life. Determined to win back his wife’s affections, he offers to help Claire with home repairs as he tries to implement ‘Operation Friends’ in an effort to persuade his wife into giving him another chance. However, Ron is struggling with his own adjustment to single life, and isn’t finding it easy to ditch the Amazon woman, or his new ‘mail order bride’ dating site hobby, no matter how much he has convinced himself that he and Claire belong together.
DAZED & DIVORCED is Book 1 in the Rom-Com on the Edge series. All books are standalone novels, but read in order for maximum fun!
Excerpt #1 Jed clears his throat and says, “So, Claire are you here in pursuit of marriage and a family?” Even though I have now met several of his type tonight, I remain astounded at their existence. Is there one normal man worthy of a real date? Not just here, but anywhere? I once again look at the daunting line of potential suitors still slated to come my way and sigh. “I’m not really sure how to answer that. I’m just trying to meet people since my divorce.” Jed winces, and is probably already praying for this sullied woman… “But you surely want children?” I lean back in my seat, finally relaxing my posture. This is unbelievable. The last thing I expected was to discuss my darkest problems at fucking speed dating! But since Jed’s not even in the neighborhood of a possibility, I fold my arms and say, “I would have loved them, but I can’t have them.” I expect him to apologize for bringing up a touchy subject, or to express his condolences. Or to tell me that God must have a different plan for me, and that I should come on his mission trip to a malaria-infested jungle to find my calling. Instead, he places his hands on the table in front of him and grows very serious. “Claire, we must pray that the Lord will bring you children.” I smile nervously now. “No, prayer won’t help me. I had a hysterectomy.” He jumps back as our shift change is loudly announced by Mary. As he stands up, he says, “I see. Well, since you have allowed the devil’s work to be done to your body, I don’t know that you can be—” A tall, attractive man appears beside psycho Pastor Jed, who obviously has abortion and hysterectomy confused, and says, “Okay, buddy. Nice speech. Let’s move it along. I need to meet this beautiful blonde.” Jed moves on in disgust and the somewhat hot new guy sits down, and I immediately start laughing. It starts as a smirk but I can’t hold it in. “And what’s so funny, Miss…Claire?” His ability to read my nametag on my chest without fear is a good sign, but it’s his name that’s got me in stitches. “Hello, Christian.” He now seems to get the joke and says, “Yes, it is rather humorous that my name is Christian and I’m the least holy one in the bunch tonight. Are there some nutters here or what?” “I’ll say, but let’s not waste time on them. Were you invited here by one of the church ladies?” “I was.” He nods his head in the direction of my seat neighbor. I wonder how they know each other, but I don’t want to waste time on useless chatter with the one normal guy here. “Me, too.” I am suddenly at a loss for words as I take in my new speed date’s dark hair and eyes. I can also peek at his firm chest from here, and his forearms and hands are strong and remind me of Ron’s…ugh…why am I thinking about Ron at a time like this? “Hey, Claire, I have an idea.” He lowers his voice and continues, “Between you and me, I’m not seeing any good pickings in either direction you or I are headed tonight.” We both look in the direction of the singles we haven’t met, and I have to agree that it looks dismal. I turn back towards Christian and say, “What were you thinking?” I am already feeling a little light-headed with excitement and I haven’t even had a drink. That’s a good sign—and Rebecca keeps telling me how I need to loosen up and take chances. “I propose we get the hell out of here.” He eyes the door to the parking lot and our freedom. “Really? Just get up and run out the door?” I thought he was going to say let’s go outside of their rules and exchange information now, or plan to meet later in the week. Something spontaneous and romantic. But I guess running out of speed dating hand-in-hand with a handsome stranger is pretty romantic—it feels like a movie scene. I steal one more quick glance down the row to my left at the men coming up next, and I catch the eye of the guy from the parking lot. I’m not looking forward to him telling me about a church sponsored lotion snorting rehab he can recommend, so I look Christian dead in the eye and say, “Okay, but you lead.” Before anyone even looks up from their own captivating partners, Christian has grabbed my hand and we are in the parking lot, laughing our asses off. I also notice he has a nice one. “That was sensational. I can’t believe you agreed.” His smile is huge and I am overjoyed just seeing someone happy because of something I did. I haven’t had much of that lately. I wipe my eyes in case my happy tears have smudged my makeup, and say, “I am trying to work on my sense of adventure.” We are still standing in the parking lot, and I’m kind of surprised that none of the church ladies have followed us out here to admonish us for breaking the rules. However, it’s more likely that a round of applause and prayers of thanksgiving have erupted due to the departure of the two heathens. Really, I do consider myself to be a believer…I’m not sure exactly what I believe, but I’ve never been made to feel like a terrible person before at any church function. Those people are complete whackjobs. Christian runs his fingers through his thick hair and points to his car. “I’m over there. Do you want to follow me and get a drink first?” I look in the general direction of his vehicle, and think a moment before saying, “First?”

Welcome to the book blitz for Christmas with the Sheriff by Victoria James and Snowbound with Mr. Wrong by Barbara White Daille, two adult contemporary holiday romances. See below for information on the books, buy links, exclusive excerpts, and details on their giveaway.
Christmas with the Sheriff (Shadow Creek, Montana #1) by Victoria James
Synopsis After fleeing her beloved small town five years ago, Julia Bailey is back to spend Christmas with her family. Returning is hard, but keeping the devastating secret about her late husband is even harder. Her place isn’t in Big Sky Country any longer…but the more time she spends with the irresistible Sheriff who saved her once before, and his adorable little daughter, the more Julia starts wishing she could let go of the past and start a new life.
Single dad and county Sheriff Chase Donovan had been secretly in love with his best friend’s wife for years. But after her traumatic loss he knew Julia needed to get away from Shadow Creek, even though helping her leave was the last thing he wanted to do. Now she’s home and he doesn’t intend to lose her a second time. Chase is going to prove to Julia just how good they can be together this Christmas…and forever.
Excerpt #2 The sound of his deep voice, thick with concern pulled her back into the present. She looked up at him, a slight frown across his brow, but it was the warmth in his eyes that appealed to her. Chase could be all hard lines and tough man, but the man had the softest core and she knew she was one of the few that was on the receiving ends of it. She didn’t breathe for a moment, his face close to hers. Her gaze lingered on his mouth and for a second she wished he’d kiss her. She knew, in her gut, that Chase kissing her would make her forget everything else. When was the last time she’d wanted a man to kiss her? Five years was a long time.
She cleared her throat and looked away when she realized she was staring. She pointed to the stage in the center of the park. “We’d better get a seat. Em will kill us if we don’t get one near the front.” She tried not to cringe at the squeaky sound of her voice. When had she become so obvious? Nothing could ever happen between her and Chase. She would be leaving Shadow Creek in a few weeks. He had a daughter. Neither of them could enter into a causal relationship. She had no choice but to get it together.
“Let’s go,” he said, taking her hand in his. A shiver raced through her even though she was bundled up and warm. It was him. Having him hold her hand effortlessly, as though he’d been doing this for years. People stopped and chatted with Chase and he was polite and charming, flashing that smile of his easily. The town loved him and he was so at home here. Gwen, Cassy, and Edward were waving to them from the second row. Gwen gave her a pointed stare and raised her eyebrow high as she joined their row. She avoided eye contact with her. She knew to expect a barrage of texts as soon at the night was over. “They always get the best seats,” Chase said.
Once they were settled, the crowd quickly filled in the remaining seats. Julia smiled as the stage curtains moved and small feet poked out beneath.
“There’s always a bad-ass back there that sneaks a peak through the curtain. And ten bucks says it’s a boy,” he said in her ear. She laughed, just as a dark haired little boy poked his head out.
Within minutes the performance started and the sound of children singing Jingle Bells filled the night sky. Tears pricked her eyes at the sweet sound of their voices and her heart felt full, her chest ached and she wasn’t sure she’d be able to take a deep breath. As though he knew, she felt Chase take her hand in his and rest on her leg. She didn’t feel as alone, as solitary in her thoughts. He knew. He knew what she was thinking. Matthew would have been here tonight; she’d be watching him sing. How would he look now? What would his sweet voice have sounded like? It was so hard to imagine because in her mind he was always two. She had been blessed with the memory of him saying, ‘mama’ and she’d never forget it. Her heart swelled painfully, her body filled with shivers, goosebumps.
“You okay?” Chase whispered.

Synopsis Worst. Day. Ever. After Lyssa Barnett’s sister tricks her into reprising her role at Snowflake Valley’s annual children’s party, she doesn’t think anything can be worse than squeezing into her too-small elf costume. Then tall, dark, and way too handsome Nick Tavlock shows up to play Santa…and an unexpected storm leaves them snowbound in the isolated lodge.
The last thing Nick wants is to spend a cozy Christmas Eve with a trio of kids and the woman who dumped him. But as much as Lyssa frustrates him, he can’t stop thinking about her. And soon, he’s fighting very un-Santa-like thoughts of kissing a certain sexy Miss Elf under the mistletoe. As Nick starts to fall for Lyssa all over again, he knows it will take nothing short of a miracle to have Lyssa in his arms on Christmas Day.
Excerpt #3 Someone’s going to pay for this.
Nick Tavlock stared at the woman in the elf costume and swore under his breath. When his so-called friend and associate Michael DeFranco had roped him into playing Santa at his lodge for a second year, he’d agreed to do the man the favor. Michael brought a lot of business his way. But this was pushing friendship and client satisfaction too far.
He’d had Michael’s word there would be a new elf this year.
He swallowed his irritation. Or tried to. “Lyss—”
“Hello, Santa!” she interrupted with a meaningful glance at the kids around them.
“Saved by an elf,” he murmured. “Almost put my boot in my mouth with that one, didn’t I?” He was still trying to pick his jaw up off the floor after the enthusiasm of her greeting. Too bad she hadn’t meant that beautiful smile for him. Too bad she had dumped him months ago, or he’d have had more chances to see that smile of hers. “Thanks for the warm welcome. A big surprise, considering the chill of your last good-bye.”
“Those Arctic blasts at the North Pole will do that to an elf.” She smiled again, but her eyes didn’t meet his. “So…Santa, are you ready to hear some wish lists?”
“Sure am,” he said in his best jolly-old-Saint-Nick voice.
He followed her to the velvet-covered chair set in a cleared space beyond the fireplace. Though the flames danced behind a safety screen several yards away, he’d already started to sweat. And it didn’t have a thing to do with the fire or the extra padding inside this Santa suit. His quick inspection of Lyssa had his temperature soaring, something he should have anticipated. She had always managed to get him overheated—in the best way possible—every time he was around her.
“Santa?” Her brows rose to fur-trimmed cap level.
“Huh?” Great. After all the years he’d spent attending his parents’ cocktail parties, that was the best he could do? But any sophisticated comment he’d ever learned had flown right out of his head.
He couldn’t let Lyssa throw him. Clamping his jaw closed, he resettled his own cap firmly and raised his brows back at her. She gestured with both hands, indicating the mob of children now surrounding him. How had he missed that?
Lyssa provided more distraction than he needed.
No, Lyssa didn’t provide anything for him anymore.
“Are you ready?” she asked.
“Yeah,” he muttered.
She frowned at him over the kids’ heads. Her cheeks had turned pink, and not from the fire, he’d bet. The glow certainly didn’t come from overheating herself, either—not in that skimpy elf suit. That outfit led him naturally to other visions of her he’d had the pleasure of seeing over the past year. But this wasn’t the time or place to relive those memories.

Fates Entwined (Halven Rising #3) by Jules Barnard
Synopsis They can never be together. The notion is laughable. Humans are inferior, a scourge on the Fae and on the magic passed down to them by angels millennia ago. And if Keen finds himself drawn to the tiny human female, he keeps it to himself. He won’t add to the half-breed problem that threatens his people’s existence.
Reese can’t stand Keen. He criticizes her clothing, won’t answer a straight question, and is too handsome for her peace of mind.
Her entire life, people have pegged Reese for a shallow, ditzy blond. She won’t accept the stereotype from the large, arrogant Fae too. But after Keen saves her life, she begins to question what truly lies beneath his stoic demeanor.
Forced together, Keen and Reese fight to survive among enemies, and Keen makes choices Reese couldn’t have predicted. She glimpses a side of him that is protective and dangerously seductive.
But Keen refuses to acknowledge their connection.
Until he’s faced with the decision to betray his people, or lose Reese forever.
*This mature YA series is intended for readers 17 years and older.
**Each Halven Rising novel features a different couple and may be read as a standalone, but an overreaching story arc connects the series, so it’s fun to read them in order.**
My Review Fates Entwined picks up where Fates Divided left off, only this time we get Elena’s roommate, Reese’s, point of view along with Keen’s, Elena’s fae body guard. There is more angst this time around, which is my not so secret passion. The whole forbidden love thing is a favorite of mine and it works really well here. When Reese is kidnapped at a frat party and taken into the fae realm, Keen lives up to his promise to Elena to find her and bring her back. The problem is, the evil fae queen is using her as a bargaining chip. With the war of the fae worlds about to erupt, there’s more action this time around, and Reese is a little spitfire caught in the midst of it all.
The main plot is really the battle between the old and new world faes with the romance as a strong subplot rather than the main plot. However the romance drives Keen’s and Reese’s actions for much of the story. The pacing is well-done, and I never got bored. I loved the way the author teased us throughout with the whole “will they or won’t they” trope.
We get both Reese’s and Keen’s points of view, but Reese is the narrator for well more than half. She’s spunky, smart, and brave, but she also experiences growth throughout the story. It was fun watching her evolve from the opening pages through the nail-biting ending. Keen has his own character arc and his is more full than Reese’s as he’s forced to acknowledge his Halven bigotry in order to get what he wants — Reese.
Once again, Jules Barnard delivers an imaginative world in vivid detail. Everything from the landscape and castle to the clothing is richly detailed. The rules of the fae world are as intricate as many of Reese’s formal gowns.
Top Five Things I Enjoyed About Fates Entwined
1. Reese. She’s so awesome. I love her attitude, her strength and courage. Really everything about her! She was my favorite character in Fates Divided, so I was thrilled to read her point of view.
2. Keen. Still love him just as much as I did in the first book, and maybe more now that I’ve been inside his head.
3. Fae politics. Come on, what’s not to love about that?
4. The action. I loved all the battles in this installment.
5. The angst. The best kind of romance.
My favorite book in the series so far. I can’t wait to read the next one!

Distracted by Her (Windy City Millionaires #1) by Caitlyn Blue
About the Book Title: Distracted by Her Series: Windy City Millionaires #1 Author: Caitlyn Blue Release Date: October 22, 2016 Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance Links:Goodreads | Amazon
Synopsis Windy City Millionaire Devlin Stone is about to discover that love and revenge don’t mix.
Fifteen years ago my father went to jail for crime he didn’t commit. Now, I’m back to take revenge on the man who sent him there. He believes himself untouchable, and for the most part, he is. His daughter, however, is very touchable and well within my reach.
I remember her as a sweet kid, who took piano lessons from my mother. These days she’s a complicated woman, who has a knack for distracting me from my retribution.
She wants to save me. I intend to ruin her. Things are going to get interesting.
Excerpt #2 “Hello, Rebecca.”
Hearing Devlin’s voice brings me back to earth with a thump. Almost ten days have gone by since I’ve seen him, and over the last week and a half I’ve changed my mind dozens of times, hoping the whole messed up situation will go away on its own. Of course, I know better than that.
He stands a few feet away, wearing an impeccable dark gray suit, white shirt, and pale gray tie. While I’d been lost in the music, he’d gotten close without my noticing. Discomfort smothers my earlier exhilaration. I stare at his chest, unable to lift my gaze to gauge his expression. I’m in the process of exploring unfamiliar territory. The self-consciousness that had momentarily left me now rushes back. I see myself through his eyes. Gawky. Perspiring. Exposed. The last thing I need right now is for him to criticize me.
Although my breathing is coming a little easier, my heart rate has yet to slow. “What are you doing here?” I sound like a grumpy teenager.
“Sammy invited me to dinner.”
I’m almost able to smile as I say, “You’ll enjoy that. Thom is a terrific cook.”
If I focus, I can almost detect the delicious scent of Thom’s culinary mastery wafting from the large white house. I consider my sparse refrigerator and my mouth waters. Often Sammy and Thom invite me to eat with them, but I try to accept only once a week. I worry that they feel obligated and ask out of concern because of the Louisville Symphony lockout.
“What were you playing?” he asks. “It wasn’t anything I recognize.”
“Nothing. I was just messing around with some dubstep music.”
Interest kindles in his dark eyes. “Dubstep?”
“It’s a little hard to explain.” I’m protective of my eclectic musical interests and don’t want to share them with Devlin. “I should get going.” Before I can take more than a couple steps, his question stops me.
“Is the Bluegrass Jam still held in Smith Park? It’s this Saturday, right?”
“Yes.” I eye him, wondering if this is what passed for small talk in his mind. “And it’s gotten even bigger than when you lived here.”
The event is organized by the Bluegrass Belles and benefits the local food shelf. In addition to three bands, there are games and booths selling food and art. Once the sun sets, the crowds will get to enjoy fireworks synchronized to music. It’s my favorite event of the year, but given the gossip being spread around town thanks to Edward, I’ve decided to stay away.
“I’d like to attend with you.”
I shake my head. “I’m not going.”
“Do you have other plans?” he asks.
“Then what’s the problem?”
“Aren’t you dating Val? I saw you having dinner with her the other night.” It had sparked a memory of them as a couple in high school.
“We’re just friends. She’s already involved with someone.”
When I avoid looking at him, he takes a step in my direction. The memory of our various encounters makes my knees unsteady. His naked skin and glorious muscles. The way he’d looked at me that day at Wolcroft Hall. How he can touch nothing more than my chin and make me want to tear his clothes off.
“Have you been thinking about what we talked about?” He pitches his voice to intimate levels.
I’m still embarrassed that I assumed he was propositioning me. “Yes.”
“Look at me.”
I take my time obeying him, stealing a few precious seconds to compose my features. I’m going to make a fool of myself over him. It’s only a matter of time. I curse. So many things are going wrong in my life right now. I might as well add Devlin Stone to the list.
“What’s it going to be?”
“I can’t.” It’s a ridiculous idea. “Who’s going to believe we’re a couple? I don’t know the first thing about you.”
“So you want to get to know me better?” Dark amusement rumbles in his throat.
The impact of his allure crashes over me like a rogue wave. I flounder, losing the ability to speak. My fingers tighten on my bow as I’m pummeled by the craving to burrow my fingers in his thick, black hair and draw his lips to mine.
“How would you like that to happen?” His question feathers over my skin. “Dinner? Long romantic walks? Maybe we could catch a movie?”
Dreamy summer evenings lit by candlelight and perfumed by honeysuckle flash through my mind. The crisp taste of chardonnay on my tongue. The sweep of Devlin’s lips against mine, sweet with chocolate and smoky with bourbon.
“Is that how Tickwell got you into bed?”
He’d gone too far. I reclaim my voice. “For the hundredth time, I’m not involved with Edward.”
“Are you in love with him?” Obviously he enjoys the sound of his own voice too much to listen to me.
“That’s it. I’m done talking about this.” Tired of defending myself, I turn and head in the direction of the guesthouse.
He catches up to me as I reach the front patio which is furnished with Adirondack chairs and dotted with colorful planters. Moving with the swift elegance of a practiced predator, he cuts me off. “Because you don’t like hearing that I think you’re making a fool of yourself over a married man?”
I huff out an impatient breath. “Because you refuse to believe I’m telling you the truth about Edward.”
“He admitted your affair to his wife.”
I confront Devlin’s inky black gaze and see no concession or compromise. The man’s opinion of me is formed of granite and I am the turbulent sea throwing itself against stone over and over in an attempt to change it. After thousands of years I might make headway.
“He’s using me to throw suspicion off whoever he’s really seeing.”
Devlin’s snort tells me what he thinks of my explanation. “Why did he pick you?”
Explaining my history with Edward isn’t going to improve the way Devlin views me. “Because his wife doesn’t like me, and using me to make her jealous entertains him.”
At long last he nods. “Because you have a past relationship.”
“Briefly, in high school.” I meet his gaze, letting none of my regret show.
How many times in the last decade have I thought about my early friendship with Barbara and wondered how different my life might have turned out if I’d been less interested in music and more interested in boys and fashion. Or if my parents’ divorce hadn’t caused my mother to yank me out of Abbottsville. Or…I could go on forever listing the possible causes that had made returning to Abbottsville my senior year such a bust.
Would Barbara and I have become good friends? Would I have turned out like most of the girls I’d graduated with? Married to an Abbottsville golden boy, jostling for position in the Bluegrass Belles? Attending dinner parties and pretending my life is perfect?
For a long, silent moment Devlin assesses me. When he exhales, some of the tension leaves his body. “I’ll pick you up at six on Saturday.”

Welcome to the release blitz for Twined Bond, the seventh and final book in the contemporary romance series, The Holly Woods Files, by New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart. See below for information on the book and series, buy links, and an exclusive excerpt.
My best friend’s love triangle is now a happy little circle. My sister-in-law just gave birth to my gorgeous new niece who is the world’s best cuddler, and Nonna’s not on my back every ten minutes about the fact we’re getting married in one month.
Until the mayor’s niece—our baker for the wedding—commits suicide. At least, that’s what the note says. My gut says we’re talking a different kind of ‘cide.’ My gut also says I should stay well away, and in the interest of Drake’s sanity, I plan to.
But when life throws you an unexpected curveball… Sometimes the best laid plans need tearing up.
Even if you don’t mean to do it.
Happily ever after…
If Holly Woods survives this.
Excerpt “Tell that to my ovaries.”
“I think I did last night when I hugged Casey.” He winks at me.
I playfully shove his chest. “It made me think. That’s all.” I slide my hand down his stomach and, in a small voice, say, “I think you’d be a great dad.”
He smiles, pressing his lips to mine. “And you’ll be a great mom. When you figure out how to be an adult.”
I hit him again. Much harder this time.
He laughs, stepping back and moving to the coffee machine. “Stop getting your panties in a twist over every little detail, okay, babe? Take everything one step at a time and let me help you. Instead of freaking out in your office alone, call me.”
“What if you don’t answer?”
He shrugs, hitting the button on the machine. “Leave me ranty messages and I’ll come with cupcakes,” he says over the gurgling of the coffee spitting into his mug.
“And just like that, he makes me forget why I was ever worried about marrying him,” I tease.
He simply looks over his shoulder, smirks, and throws me a second wink.
And an idea flies through my head.
A crazy, stupid, ridiculous idea.
The moment the coffee machine stops, the kitchen fills with silence.
One that makes my idea buzz loudly.
“Mhmm?” He turns around, still stirring sugar and cream into his coffee.
“What if we did it? Got married. Eloped but kinda didn’t.”
“You’re confusing me now, sweetheart.”
I’m confusing myself. But still… “We’re registered, right? We both have each other’s rings in the safe in the closet. Why don’t we just…do it?”
He stills, but his blue eyes swing from his mug to meet my brown gaze. “Are you suggesting we blow off the ceremony, grab our rings, and go see Father Luiz right now?”
Synopsis I’m an Italian-Texan woman in a family full of cops. I’m passionate and shoot before I think. You only f*ck with me if you’re stupid.
Photograph cheating spouses. Hand over the evidence. Cash my check.
That was my plan when I returned home to Holly Woods, Texas, and became a private investigator.
Finding the dead body in my dumpster? Yeah… Given the choice, I think I would have opted out of that little discovery, especially since all three of my brothers are cops. And my Italian grandmother is sure the reason I’m single is because of my job.
Of course, my connection to the victim is entirely coincidental. Until I’m hired by her husband to investigate her murder and shoved bang-smack into the path of Detective Drake Nash. My nemesis, a persistent pain in my ass, and one hell of a sexy son of a bitch.
Shame he still holds a grudge from that time I shot him in the foot twelve years ago, or we could have something. In another life.
So now all I have to do is avoid my nonna’s blind dates, try not to blackmail my brothers into giving me confidential police files, and absolutely do not point my gun at Drake Nash. Or kiss him. Or jump his bones.
All while I hunt down the killer.
Sounds totally simple—until a second body proves that sometimes things that start as coincidences don’t always end up that way…
(Twisted Bond is book one of the Holly Woods Files series and while it does not end in a cliffhanger, it is not a standalone.)
Synopsis One date with the sexier-than-sin Detective Drake Nash. Simple.
Until you take into account that my brother finally proposed to his girlfriend, so Nonna is on a warpath—and the crazy old bat has Cupid by the balls.
The upcoming mayoral elections has everyone running on full speed, and while I couldn’t give any less craps about the corrupt Holly Woods mayor’s office, a dead body in the middle of a campaign speech has me thrown right into the middle of it. The victim is close to the mayor, but all he cares about is minimizing the damage to his campaign, so he hires me to work alongside Drake to close the case as quickly as possible.
Bad news for our tentative relationship.
We disagree far more than we agree, but being at loggerheads won’t get this murder solved… Or deal with the arrival of someone from his past.
The mysteries behind the murder aren’t the only things unraveling, and despite being knee-deep in lies and corruption and bonds so tangled they’re almost indecipherable, I have to figure out if I’m willing to fight for Drake the way I do justice…
Now, if someone could tell his ex that… I don’t care if the summer fayre is coming to Holly Woods and she’s on the planning committee. What I do care about is sugar-filled food, bright lights, late nights… and danger.
The type that won’t come in the form of Nonna’s new cantankerous British parrot, Gio. (Please see the damage done to Mom’s new curtains.)
Unfortunately, when the danger comes, it comes in the form of something Holly Woods has never seen. The town is rocked to its core, and once again, I’m in danger. Only this time, it isn’t because of my clients—this time, I’m in danger because of who I am… Because of my heritage.
And despite the HWPD’s best efforts, the bodies keep on piling up.
Drake’s determined to protect me. I’m determined that I can do it myself. Danger. Mystery. Darkness. Malice. It’ll be a miracle if any of us make it out of this with guns unfired, cupcakes still frosted, and hearts intact…
Synopsis Holly Woods is going to hell in a handbasket—but this time, Satanists aren’t to blame. Halloween is.
Nonna doesn’t understand why there are skeletons and demons everywhere. Mom is threatening to stitch a devil into Nonna’s pillowcase if she doesn’t shut up. Bek is bumbling over a date with Jason, the handsome FBI agent who conveniently got himself relocated to Austin, and I… Well. I’m considering running away to a town without the crazies.
Nothing new here.
Everything is going smoothly—too smoothly—and I can’t shake the feeling that something is about to happen. Drake insists I’m being paranoid… But when a body turns up at the Holly Woods Halloween party, we have a whole lot more than a murderer to worry about.
Because the prime suspect is his mom. And it’s my job to prove she’s innocent.
(Tied Bond is the fourth full-length book in the Holly Woods Files series and does not stand alone.)
Synopsis If I thought Holly Woods was crazy before, I was wrong.
Devin is finally married. Nonna’s on the wedding warpath. Drake might be getting ideas. His mom just dropped a bombshell, and Bek is caught between a hot as hell FBI agent and my super-sweet little brother.
And I still don’t have the shoe closet Drake promised me when he moved in six months ago.
At least there’s one positive: the old, abandoned Holly Woods Theater is about to reopen, and there’s nothing like a theater opening to bring people together… And make crazy grandmothers forget proposal agendas.
Until that theater comes with a dead body. A very, very, very dead body.
Chaos is coming to town.
Everything I’ve ever known about Holly Woods might just be about to change.
Synopsis Brody Bond. The youngest homicide detective in Holly Woods. My best friend’s younger brother.
Off. Freaking. Limits.
I’ve told myself that for the past five years, and I’m going to keep telling myself that. Besides—I’m kind-of dating Jason. I don’t need Brody. I shouldn’t even want him, but want him, I do.
Not that I have time to think about it. With Noelle and Drake in Mexico for two weeks, I’m holding down the fort at Bond P.I. Or I was… until I stumbled upon a young woman who’d been attacked while walking my dog.
Jason thinks it’s the latest in a long line of gang-rapes happening across three states. Brody thinks I’ve added a target to my back. Getting to the bottom of it is at the top of my to-do list.
Two men, both determined to protect me.
I think I could love one. I’m almost certain I’m in love with the other.
Ride or die just got a whole lot realer.

Until the day it doesn’t.

About Book 1 Title: This Piece of My Heart Series: Clearing the Ice #1 Author: Robyn M. Ryan Release Date: April 15, 2016 Genre: New Adult Contemporary/Sports Romance Links:Goodreads | Amazon | iBooks
Synopsis For twenty years, Caryn Stevens dutifully followed the educational path dictated by her parents. That path had one goal—prepare her to one day assume her father’s position as CEO of the multi-billion dollar international company he founded. That and marry a man who would enhance her career and perhaps join her in leading The Stevens Company. Not too much to expect from your daughter, right?
Caryn has other ideas. Instead of returning home to Ottawa for another summer working at The Company, she’s designed a plan to stay in Toronto, take a couple of courses, and enjoy her Summer of Fun. She knew there was more to college than rigorous classes that held little interest and study groups to ensure she excelled in all her subjects. She had two years until she finished her undergrad, and then continue on to that coveted MBA at a prestigious business school.
Just this once, Caryn will set aside The Plan and enjoy life as a regular student. To actually get her head out of the books and maybe, just maybe find someone to make the summer—dare she say it?—exciting.
You see, there’s this hunk of a guy she’s noticed on campus the first few weeks of summer. Always running—maybe in training?—but, Caryn’s seen enough to get her heart pounding. Tall, well-built, with shaggy light-brown hair. Gym shorts that emphasize taut leg muscles. Sometimes wearing a t-shirt with cut-off sleeves. Bronzed muscular biceps—truly drool-worthy. Absolutely hot—and gorgeous in a totally guy type of way. Only problem, he had no clue she existed.
Andrew Chadwick has enjoyed life in the fast lane in the five years since he’d entered the ranks of professional hockey. Preparing for his fourth season with his hometown Leafs, Andrew intends to enjoy his summer down time—hang out with friends and family, keep in shape, and erase all memories from that disastrous two-year joke of a relationship that imploded in May.
Not that he has any plans to revisit his first few years in the pros. He’d eagerly sampled the attentions of a never-ending line of women who wanted nothing more than to spend one night with a professional athlete. Believe it or not, one-night-stands with absolutely gorgeous women whose names he never bothered to remember became tedious. And that steady relationship he tried for two years? Finding your so-called girlfriend in your own bed with some other guy certainly opened his eyes.
Maybe it’s time to cut the fun and games and concentrate on things that are important—Win the Stanley Cup, give his brother any support he needs as he starts his Internship Rotations, help his Mom and Dad around their house. Act like a grown-up at twenty-four?
He’s not particularly looking, but if he were to meet someone interesting…well, he’ll just see where things go.
Neither Caryn nor Andrew expected their two very different worlds to collide on a beautiful June day…

Synopsis No more wild rides. No more wild side.
Blake Orbison’s pro football career may have ended with a bang, but not calling the signals anymore just gives him more time to devote to his business enterprises, including the latest and greatest: the opening of the Wild Horse Resort in scenic north Idaho. And that other one, too. Blake’s on the marriage track, and he’s got a game plan. But when he runs into a trespasser leaping from his shoreline boulders into his lake, what’s a good ol’ boy to do but strip down and join her?
Dakota Savage is nobody’s temporary diversion, least of all the man responsible for her family’s semi-desperate circumstances. Some people may think she has a piercing too many, but she’s had more than enough of being called trash in this town. She’s come home to Wild Horse to run her stepfather’s painting business, and any extra time she has goes into creating her stained glass. An overpaid, entitled, infuriating NFL quarterback is no part of her life plan, no matter how sweet he talks. No matter how slow he smiles. No matter what.
Excerpt It wasn’t Jerry. That much, she could tell as he got closer. It was somebody a whole lot slimmer. Tall, check. Short dark hair, check. Black shirt, check. But no gut, and she thought there was some darkness around the jaw that wasn’t quite a beard. Another security guy. She could be cute enough for him. Maybe. What would he care, really, what she did?
“Hi,” she said as he approached. “Next time maybe don’t yell right when I’m jumping.” Taking the initiative. Projecting confidence. She was better at that than “cute.”
“Hell of a graceful landing,” he agreed, and glasses or no, she could see the flash of white teeth through the dark stubble just fine. Also that he had a pair of shoulders to die for, and some very nice arms in that T-shirt. Not to mention long legs in dusty jeans and work boots, and about six foot three of lean muscle. Nobody she knew, because she’d have noticed him. She might not be able to see him, exactly, but she could see enough.
“If you’re security,” she said, “I was just going.”
“I’m not security. And I hope that’s a lie that you were just going, because that looked real fun.”
He had a Southern drawl she’d surely never heard in Wild Horse. Slow as molasses, and just that thick and sweet. Ah hope thass a lah that you were juss goin’. “Let me guess,” she said, feeling a sneaky little surge of excitement. “You’re out here to do wrong. Sign says ‘No Trespassing,’ and you’ve been given the big lecture, but you’re not worried, because you’re a badass like that.”
Some more grin. “Could be. Is that water deep enough to be safe? We’re both too pretty to get ourselves paralyzed.”
“Oh, yeah,” she assured him. “Best spot on the lake for it. No place else has rocks like this or a pool this deep. Which means, of course, that the Man comes and fences it off and tells you that you can’t use it anymore, even if you’re working out here. Gotta love capitalism, and this is about the worst.”
He gazed into the distance and scratched thoughtfully at his cheek. “Bad place to work, you think? Huh.”
“I wouldn’t do it for a heartbeat if I didn’t need the money. You could say that I’m not in love with Mr. Blake Orbison or his company. But you know, we all need the money.”
“That we do. Arrogant guy?”
“Let’s say that I don’t like the way he treats people. On an . . . institutional scale.” Whoa, girl, she told herself. Lose the bitter and get back to reckless. More attractive, and a whole lot more fun. Trust her to meet a truly prime specimen of manflesh for once and immediately put him off. “So I’m sure I shouldn’t jump off his rocks. But hey, what’s life without a little danger?” There, that was better.
“Now, see, darlin’,” he said, his voice getting even deeper, the accent going a shade richer, “that’s what I tell myself all the time. It’s a real shame that so few people think like us.”
