Synopsis The final installment in the epic Fairy World MD series by Tamara Grantham.
It’s been four years since Olive Kennedy sealed the portals between Earth and Faythander. Four years that she’s been living on Earth, working as a consultant to the Houston PD. It helps keep her mind off other things—like being separated from her husband and her dragon king stepfather.
Her ex, Brent Sanchez, works with her on the police force and helps her solve crimes. His friendship is a comfort—but also a reminder of what she’s missing. Everything changes when Olive discovers a broken mirror at a murder scene. It contains magic, and although it shouldn’t exist, it could be used as a portal to Faythander. Dark forces are at work, and the one person she wants by her side to help her is literally a world away. Olive will stop at nothing to solve the murder and return to the only place she calls home.

Synopsis If there was one man in the world Grace Fitzgerald never wanted to see again, it was Mark Donovan.
Sinfully handsome, famously flirtatious, unerringly cocky. Paragon of men. Archetype of entitled a**holes. As a guest at her luxury hotel, Mark was impossible.
As the new owner of her hotel, he’s become a nightmare. The kind that wakes Grace in the middle of the night wishing she could forget how right his lips felt against her own, how tempting his fingers were against her skin.
But for all of the challenges that Mark and Grace face working together, nothing can prepare them for the undeniable attraction that flares every time they battle for control. Or the secrets that linger in the luxury of the Seven Winds Villa.
With no way of escaping each other or their pasts, can they possibly survive life on the island after they fall?
A steamy, standalone romance from Katy Ames, author of After the Island.

Excerpt #4 For a moment Grace and Mark studied each other, nothing but a few inches of air and progressively shallower breaths separating them. Grace could feel the warmth of his body through the fine fabric of her shirt, the soft weave of his dress pants a whisper against her thighs. It would take the smallest movement, the simplest slip, to touch him, to brush her fingers against the golden skin of his wrist exposed by the turned-up cuff, to angle her head just right so that she’d dip into the curve of his neck and feel the satisfying abrasion of his stubble against the smoothness of her cheek.
She was falling.
Grace could feel it, her body giving way to the pull of his. Despite the words and battles and omissions and high-handedness, Grace could still feel the pressure of Mark’s legs beneath her, the tremble of his fingers against her shirt, the pleading in his eyes when he demanded so many months ago she take it off.
Grace was falling and she had to stop.
“Three.” It came out choked, only a half-word, the first syllable swallowed by the dryness in Grace’s throat. Coughing, she stepped back and tried again. “The third condition. Whatever happened that day I found you on the floor.” Grace waited for the haze to clear from Mark’s face, for his head to bob slowly, telling her he was listening. “It doesn’t happen again. We’re colleagues, working to achieve the same thing. There’s no room for anything else between us. Agreed?”
She stared at Mark. He needed to agree. She really needed him to agree.
“Agreed.”
“You’ll keep your hands to yourself.”
“I’ll keep my hands to myself….” Mark’s voice drifted off as he ran a greedy look down her body, flames licking across Grace’s skin as he progressed ever so slowly from neck to knee, breasts to hips, waist to toes. When his eyes returned to hers they were hard and dark, the blue as intense and alluring as the pre-dawn sky. With one step, Mark swallowed the space between them, and Grace was sure she could feel his voice in her own chest when he spoke. “I’ll keep my hands to myself, if you do the same.”
Grace wanted to baulk, to scoff and push him back and tell him he was being ridiculous. He was the one she needed to be careful of. Not the other way around. But her remaining sliver of sanity told her if she dared touch any part of this man neither of them would survive unscathed.
“Deal,” Grace whispered back.
Any other time she would’ve been embarrassed by the shallowness of her voice, but at that moment her only concern was escaping. Escaping the villa, escaping Mark, and escaping the heady haze of lust and longing and lunacy surrounding them.
“Go, Grace.” Mark’s voice was so quiet she barely made it out over the pounding in her ears. But Grace didn’t need to hear what he said; his face, angular and beautiful, open and exposed, said everything she needed to know. “Go, before….”
Grace didn’t wait for him to finish. Without giving Mark a second look, she turned on her heel and practically ran from the villa, holding her breath until the golf cart cranked to life beneath her and she knew that when she inhaled the only things she would taste were the sun and the salt and the flowers drugging the air.

Excerpt #2 “Mako, why do you look like Kai’s about to drink a shifter’s blood or something?” Ryder questioned, noticing my disgust. I lifted my head to face him.
“He’s drinking expired milk.” I pointed out as my outstretched finger landed on the two glasses filled with the brown dairy liquid. Everything edible had an expiration date to my knowledge, always turning brown as it decayed. Milk was no different…right?
Multiple snickers could be heard from the others, as their shoulders shook. Or not?
“Baby that’s not expired milk. It’s chocolate milk.” Ryder acknowledged, doing his best to hold back his laughter. The huge grin on his face caused me to roll my eyes.
“There’s no such thing. Don’t lie.” I argued, crossing my arms over my chest to glare at him.
“Mako, I’m not lying. It’s chocolate flavoured milk.” He reassured me. My eyes turned back to the brown, liquid filled glass. I looked at Kai.
“Is it safe to drink? Will I die? If so, your previous comment would be invalid.” I reminded him of his earlier statement. I’d probably have a word with the Starlight gods about expired milk and how it led to my early death.

AN EX FOR CHRISTMAS (Love Unexpectedly #5) by Lauren Layne
Synopsis She’s making a list—and checking it twice. But is there a nice guy among all her naughty exes? The New York Times bestselling author of Blurred Lines returns with a charming friends-to-lovers rom-com.
When a psychic tells spunky, superstitious Kelly Byrne that she’s already met her true love, she becomes obsessed with the idea of tracking him down before Christmas. Kelly immediately writes up an “Ex List” and starts contacting old boyfriends to figure out which one is the one. When her college sweetheart rolls into town, Kelly convinces herself that they’re meant to be. The trouble is, sparks are flying with someone she’s never given a chance: her best friend, Mark.
Mark Blakely has watched the guys on Kelly’s list break her heart, and he’s not looking forward to watching them do it all over again. Mark’s always been there for her, but the timing’s never worked out for their relationship to be something more. Now, just as Mark is ready to move on, the sexual tension between them is suddenly off the charts. With Christmas morning around the corner, he just hopes Kelly will wake up and realize that everything she wants has been right in front of her all along.

—————————————————————————-
My Review Still on my friends-to-lovers kick, I couldn’t wait to get into this light-hearted romantic comedy. Add Lauren Layne as the author, a little bit of snow, and some holiday magic, and I was all in. Layne is known for her quirky characters and Kelly is no exception. A school teacher in a private New York academy, she lives and dies by the Magic 8 Ball, allowing it to guide her choices. So it’s not surprising that Kelly would take the prophecy of a subway psychic to heart. When Kelly discovers that the love her life is someone she’s already met, she makes a list of all of her exes to figure out which is “the one.” Things go hilariously wrong with each one, only frustrating Kelly. She can’t figure out how the psychic could possibly be wrong, so she works her way through one ex after another, with disastrous results.
Enter Mark. He’s been her best friend for the better part of a decade. Old high school friends who have never risked that friendship with something as temporary as sex. Not to mention the fact that Kelly is so not like any of the super hot girls Mark usually dates. So when she starts to have deeper feelings for Mark, she only amps up her search for the right ex before she acts on those feelings.
Plot
The plot is somewhat predictable, but it’s so adorably told, it doesn’t really matter. Much of the story centers around Kelly’s search for her perfect ex, but her long-term friendship with Mark is a strong subplot until it becomes front and center. Underlying it all is Kelly’s superstitious nature that drives most of the conflict.
Characters
Lauren Layne’s writing shines when it comes to her characters. Kelly is delightful as an elementary school teacher who relies on fate to chart her course in life. While this could easily come off as cartoonish, Kelly has more depth to her than that, making this aspect of her personality realistic. Mark is utterly believable as the long-suffering best friend. A man of few words, he lets his actions speak for him. The supporting characters are light, with Kelly’s exes getting most of the roles.
What I Loved About AN EX FOR CHRISTMAS 1. Friends to Lovers. One of my favorite tropes.
2. Kelly. Her smart, spunky brand of quirky is a breath of fresh air.
3. Mark. He takes the strong, silent type to a new level of hot.
4. Christmas. I love all the holiday elements incorporated into this story. Everything from snow to decorations and a Christmas parade make the setting an essential part of the story.
5. Surprise Ending. So while I was pretty sure I knew how things were going to end, I didn’t know how it was going to get there, and the sweet surprise at the end was perfect.
Bottom Line An adorably fun contemporary romance with the perfect amount of heat and humor.
Disclaimer I was provided with a copy of this book by publisher in exchange for an honest review.

LOCKED-DOWN HEART (Combat Hearts #3) by Tarina Deaton
Synopsis Denise Reynolds’s tightly controlled life is thrown off kilter when she’s given custody of her young cousins. There are days she has a hard enough time getting herself out of bed, never mind two precocious kids.
If that wasn’t enough, Chris Nolton comes strolling back into town as suddenly as he left it. She’d broken her own rules and given him a chance once before, only to have him ghost on her. But he’s not there for her this time. No, he’s leading the FBI Task Force intent on capturing the kids’ biological father. A man who was sent to prison for manslaughter. A man who was released five years too early. A man who wants his kids back.
The past has a way of repeating itself and once again, Denise finds herself defending the innocent against the evil of world. One wrong decision, one second guess, could have devastating consequences. To protect the most important people in her life, she’ll need to trust the one man with the power to break her.
.
—————————————————————————-
Excerpt Denise glanced through the peephole, then rocked back on her heels.
The bottom dropped out of her stomach then rushed up again to choke her. What the fuck? She stared at the door, trying to decide if she should open it or not.
Three more sharp knocks made the decision for her.
She unlocked the door and yanked it open.
“What the hell are you doing here?” she demanded.
Chris took a step back. Whether from the door opening suddenly, her, or her question, she wasn’t sure. He looks tired. It wasn’t her problem. Never was.
“Denise?”
“Yes, Chris. What are you doing here?”
The lines between his dark eyebrows grew more pronounced. “What are you doing here?”
His strong jaw was covered with stubble, accentuating the lines of his mouth. A mouth that was surprisingly soft, especially when it grazed over her skin. Her nipples pebbled under her thin t-shirt. Damn her traitorous body. It’d been almost seven months since he’d ghosted, it should have gotten the message by now and forgotten him.
“I asked first.” She set her gun on the high shelf above the coat hooks and grabbed the zip-up hoodie hanging by the door, zipping it half way up.
“Why are you answering the door with a gun?” he asked.
“Because this isn’t the greatest neighborhood and some asshole was pounding on my door.” The neighborhood sucked. It wasn’t the greatest when Sarah bought the small three-bedroom house and it had only gotten worse in the last five years. She was pretty sure her neighbor two doors down was dealing. As long as he wasn’t cooking, and he kept it to his doorstep, she was willing to over look it. But Kimber and Kaden were going to her parents’ the minute the school year was over.
“Why are you here?” She enunciated the question this time. She needed a quick answer so she could work on forgetting Christopher Nolton. Again.
“I’m looking for Sarah Reed.”
Her shoulders sagged and she rubbed her hand over her eyes. “She’s not here.”
“When will she be back?”
Denise glanced over her shoulder. Sprocket sat in the opening of the short hall that led to the two small bedrooms at the back of the house. She let out a low woof and laid down, resting her head on her paws. She sensed Denise’s stress, but was doing what she’d been told to do.
Denise stepped out of the house and pulled the door shut behind her, leaving it cracked. Chris stepped back on the small concrete pad.
“She’s not coming back. She’s in the hospital with terminal cancer.”
Light dawned behind his eyes. “Shit. She’s your cousin.” Chris ran his hands over his hair. It had grown long and now curled around his ears and jawline. If it weren’t for the stubble and dark circles under his eyes, he’d look boyishly charming. Things she should not be noticing.

—————————————————————————-
Excerpt #2 Omigod! Omigod! I don’t know why I just agreed to meet his entire family. Are we really at that step in our relationship? I don’t think I’m ready for this.
I didn’t meet Adam’s family until we had been seeing each other for a good five months, and even that was by pure accident. I ran into them during one of those free physical screenings at school. Talk about awkward. His mom had this look on her face like, “who’s this girl hugging my son?” She called me “dearest,” and Adam, well, he stood there turning red like I was embarrassing him in front of his mother. His little sister gave me the stink eye. His dad kept clearing his throat.
Tyler and I have only been dating officially for a week. What if his family hates me? What if they take one look at me and tell him to dump me?
I’m freaking out. The other issue that has me worked up; is Christmas. Yeah, I know it comes every year. But things around our house have been a little bland since my dad died. Our house used to be decked out in decorations. Since my dad’s death, my mom just puts up a tree, if you can even call it that. It’s a five-foot artificial tree, and this year, only two parts of it are lit. She doesn’t care enough to buy a new one or add lights to it. I miss our banisters and every other section of the house decorated with ribbons and garland and the smell of cinnamon wafting throughout the house. Instead, it looks like we’re celebrating Halloween or some other holiday we’re not really into.
Aside from my house lacking the Christmas spirit, I’m worried about gifts. Not in receiving but giving. Am I supposed to only get Tyler a gift, or am I supposed to get ones for his family too? And what do I possibly get a guy who already has everything?

—————————————————————————-
My Review I love me a good freinds-to-lovers story, and I’m a huge fan of Monica Murphy, so this was a must-read for me. Eden and Josh are best friends who acknowledge that they find one another attractive, but are terrified of ruining the friendship with a doomed romance. I get it. I’ve been there. I found this part of the story to be so relatable. With senior year well underway, Josh doesn’t want to graduate a virgin, so he solicits the help of best friend, Eden, to help him find a girl willing to help him out in that department. The more time they spend together talking about sex, though, the more they begin to look at each other as more than just friends. The danger of destroying what they have is still there, but each of them starts to entertain more thoughts about what could be.
Plot
The story was cute and well plotted, but it was also pretty predictable, without any twists at all. There was also a fair amount of repetition that started to bog it down after a while. I understood their reasoning for not acting on their feelings, but it was explained over and over and over again. There was also a spot where Eden fights with Josh and it didn’t come across as authentic. The logic, timing, and even the words spoken didn’t seem to flow with the story. I think it was explained well in the end, but at the time, I kept thinking it was too forced.
Characters
Eden and Josh are beyond adorable and obviously perfect for each other. Everyone can see it except them. Their two other best friends, Molly and Abraham, are the only other main characters in the story. Everyone else is background noise, but that’s okay, because it’s about Eden and Josh. Both are believable as average, perfectly normal high school kids without a ton of baggage.
What I Enjoyed About SAVING IT 1. Friends of the Opposite Sex. This is so common with today’s teens, I love seeing it being explored more in young adult fiction.
2. Eden. I love her confidence and self-assuredness.
3. Josh. He’s a typical guy without being a player.
4. Oversharing. Some of the best moments were Eden’s thoughts on Josh’s oversharing of personal information. It added a great dynamic to their friendship.
5. The ending. I love how this wrapped up. It was perfect.
Bottom Line A really sweet young adult contemporary romance from one of my favorite authors.
Disclaimer I was provided with a copy of this book by publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis What happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object?
Remington Rohan was not a rule follower. Former model (though not one of the “super” kind), successful influencer and life coach. Currently paid to tell people how to achieve the best from their lives and careers. In other words, a complete contradiction to how he preferred to live—namely, on his own terms and without input from others.
Everything about his life was going according to plan. Until he started spending way too much time with a woman who defied his prejudices and challenged his beliefs.
Lydia Larkin was not a genius. Gifted, clever, and stubborn. Raised on star maps and Hendrix, she was born an explorer. Temporarily tied down to a private sector science job, she knew she was biding her time before she was off to discover and build something new. Not one to let society tell her who she was, she wasn’t about to let a professional influencer tell her she had to change to be happy.
Buckle up and brace for impact.

Author Heidi Hutchinson
About the Author Heidi Hutchinson was born in South Dakota and raised the exact right distance away from the Black Hills. She had an overactive imagination very early on, and wasted no time in getting most of her friends in trouble due to her unrealistic and completely ridiculous ideas. Seeing as she was so lazy and also afraid people would think she was bonkers, she didn’t write down any of the story lines that played out in her daydreams.
During her high school years, she took pen to paper and filled more notebooks than she is proud of with angsty, depressing, self-deprecating poetry. This led to her writing down more things: notes, ideas, character bios, plot twists that had no plot yet to twist. After years of cleaning up her own scraps of imagination with nothing solid to hold on to, she sat down and wrote the story that had been in her head the longest. Fueled by coffee and her unwavering and perfectly normal devotion to Dave Grohl, she discovered a writer living inside of her.
She still lives in the Midwest, though not as close to the Black Hills as she would prefer, with her alarmingly handsome husband and their fearless child. They eat more pizza than God intended and she listens to her music the same way she lives: loudly.

Physicist Scarlett Stone is the daughter of the man considered to be the most notorious Russian agent in FBI history. With her father dying in prison she’s determined to prove he’s innocent, but time is running out. Using a false identity, she gains access to the Russian ambassador’s Christmas party, searching for evidence of a set-up.
Former Navy SEAL, now FBI Special Agent, Matt Lazlo, is instantly attracted to Scarlett but life is too complicated to pursue a politician’s daughter. When he discovers she lied to him about her identity, he hunts her down with the ruthless efficiency he usually reserves for serial killers.
Not only does Scarlett’s scheme fail, it puts her in the sights of powerful people who reward unwanted curiosity with brutality. The FBI—and Matt—aren’t thrilled with her, either. But as agents involved in her father’s investigation start dying, and the attempts to stop Scarlett intensify, Matt and his colleagues begin to wonder. Could they have a traitor in their midst?
As Scarlett and Matt dig for the truth they begin to fall passionately for one another. But the real spy isn’t about to let anyone uncover their secrets, and resolves to remain firmly in the shadows—and for that to happen, Matt and Scarlett have to die.

About the Book Title: MARRYING AN ALIEN POP STAR Series: Alien Pop Star #3 Author: Kendra L. Saunders Publisher: Crimson Tree Publishing Release Date: November 20, 2016 Genre: Adult Science Fiction/Romantic Comedy Links:Goodreads | Amazon | Amazon UK | Amazon CA | Amazon AU | Barnes & Noble | iBooks | Kobo
Synopsis Daisy Kirkwood and her best friend Kammie have adjusted to life on an alien planet pretty well, all things considered. And thanks to Daisy’s alien pop star boyfriend, Griffin Valentino, she has plenty of sexy new experiences to keep her busy. But it’s not possible to take a massive music nerd away from her home planet and not expect her to pine for a concert or a record store at least in once in a while.
Heading back to Earth with Griffin and his best friend Dev for a brief but much-needed visit, the girls want nothing more than to catch up on the underground music scene of New York City. Unfortunately, thanks to Griffin’s less-than-stellar space traveling skills, they accidentally pick up a hitchhiker. Or three hundred. Their many-legged stowaway beasties take up residence in the darkest, creepiest corners of Manhattan, leaving the gang no choice but to experience a very different underground than they bargained for.
Giant alien bugs aside, Griffin has some epic plans of his own for their trip, plans that involve a concert, an album… and the most outrageous marriage proposal that Earth has ever seen.
—————————————————————————-
Excerpt #1 Somehow, every time I return to Earth, the awful smells that make up New York City seem even more welcome to my nose. A woman can only be without the olfactory cocktail of garbage, cheap coffee, morning cigarettes, and desperate hangovers for so long.
Finally, finally, here Griffin, Dev and I are, setting foot in the East Village with nothing but our clothes, one bag, and a bunch of semi-counterfeited money. Okay, not semi-counterfeited. Completely counterfeited. Griffin and Dev can create stacks of fake Earth currencies with almost no effort, which is disconcerting if I think about it for too long. I try not think about it at all, actually.
Griffin tips himself over a filthy looking garbage can and throws up for all he’s worth. I wander away a little and stare at taxis rolling by, willing my own stomach to calm down.
I’ve ‘traveled’ through space several times with Griffin, but it really doesn’t make it any easier, evidenced by my stomach’s gleeful attempt to empty everything inside it as soon as we land at our destination. Usually, I can bully my stomach into calming down before anything actually manages to come up, but the same can’t be said for Griffin. Somehow, he’s a million times worse at traveling through space than I am, despite his people’s advanced capabilities.
And see, I love him, and aspire to comfort him when he’s feeling sad or sick, but I know better than to get too close at a time like this. Besides, that’s exactly what Griffin’s best friend Dev is for.
Aforementioned best friend makes a beeline for Griffin, sidling up to him and patting him on the back. “It’s alright,” he says, in the special soothing voice he uses for Griffin in times of stomach disaster. “Just breathe through your nose, Griff. Pretend you’re on a horizon. Everything is still. Nothing moves. You’re weightless and blissful.”
Griffin raises his head and grumbles something about not feeling very blissful, and then lurches forward to vomit again.
Where Griffin is dark haired and pale and pointy, Dev’s handsomely golden in every respect. His skin always looks freshly sun-kissed, and his big gray eyes seem rested even when he hasn’t slept. He’s a calming force on everyone he comes into contact with, even his manic best friend. “Find your calm, Griff. You’re alright. You’re weightless and–”
“I’m not alright!” Griffin replies, flailing his hands around while still leaned fully over the bin.
Dev pats Griffin on the back. “I’m proud of you, Griff. You programmed our trip this time, and you didn’t kill any of us.”
His praise is justified, because this is actually kind of a big deal. Griffin is infamously terrible at travel, and has sent himself to a few dangerous places by accident over the years. Of course, reminding him of this fact never goes over well, and today is no exception. He raises his head again to pin Dev with a nasty look.
“I happen to be…” he starts to say, and then takes a long pause, “somewhat better at traveling than I used to be, thank you very much.” With that, he pukes again, and Dev bites his lower lip to keep from smiling.

I’m in love with a woman I can’t have, and there’s absolutely nothing I can do to stop myself from falling.

Excerpt Addie and I watched the guys play round after round of Skee-B all, while Chloe jumped and cheered and stole the occasional ball from each of their rows. No matter what my state in life was, I was happy the three of them had found one another.
“Here, let’s get our picture drawn.” Knocking me out of my woolgathering, Addie guided me toward one of the caricature sketchers who sat just outside the carnival gates. The man had a unibrow the size of Lake Michigan’s shoreline, and his mustache was curled at the end, handlebar style. But his work was amazing. Charcoal sketches with colored eyes, balloon- shaped heads with movie-s tar hair.
“How much for both of us?” Addie asked, fishing through her purse. We sat on the stools, as directed, our shoulders touching.
“Thirty- five,” the guy said, his fake French accent too thick to be believable.
I groaned and looked at my friend. “Seriously? That’s too much.”
“Seriously. We have to do this.” Addie mocked me. “Look at how cute those are.” She pointed to a couple with a heart surrounding their heads. Little doves swooped in the air around them, carrying heart balloons in their beaks. Had to hand it to the guy. He was talented.
“I’ve got this, ladies.” I looked up at the sound of Max’s deep voice, finding him searching through his wallet. He pulled out the money, handed it to the artist, then lifted his gaze to meet mine. A soft smile covered his bow-shaped lips, and everything inside me stirred to life at the view.
Addie faked a cough, then pressed a hand over her stomach. “Oh…oh no. I don’t feel very good, guys.”
I faced her and narrowed my eyes as she stood. Don’t, I mouthed, already knowing her game.
Ignoring me, she looked at Max and said, “You’ll take my place, won’t you, Max?” She batted those brown eyes and twirled a lock of her dark hair. No doubt her way of getting anyone and everyone to say yes to her. “Lia here was dying to get her picture drawn.”
Oh, the little liar…
Max nodded, immediately taking her empty seat to my right. With an extra hop in her step, Addie walked away, her ponytail swinging back and forth more the closer she got to Collin and Gavin and Chloe. I wanted to pull it out of her head.
“All right, look this way.” I blinked at the sound of the artist’s voice, my body far too aware of Max’s heady scent.
God, why did he have to smell so good? Fit so perfectly against me?
“You’re much too stiff.” The artist asked from behind his easel. “Here, wrap your arm around zee pretty lady’s waist, like so.”
I sucked in a breath as Max’s hand was guided along my back, ending at my side with his fingers tucked just under the edge of my T- shirt. I swallowed, shifting in my seat and instantly remembering our kiss— the way he’d moved his mouth over mine.
Warmth pooled low in my stomach, drifting in between my thighs. His touch was like adrenaline, kick- starting my orgasm-starved body to life.
“Chin on her shoulder, lips close to her ear…” I shuddered as Max followed the artist’s directions to a T, the stubble on his chin igniting a stormy thunder inside me. Max seemed unaffected, his chest rising and falling at an even rate, while mine was suddenly in asthmatic mode.
“Relax,” Max whispered in my ear, his warm breath grazing my neck. “I’m not gonna bite ya.”
I shut my eyes and shifted once again, the ache between my thighs becoming unbearable. “I didn’t want to do this,” I finally murmured, refocusing on the artist.
Max laughed softly, his chest vibrating against my back and shoulder. “I know you didn’t.”
My eyebrows pushed together in annoyance. “Then why did you agree to sit here?”
“Because Addie wouldn’t give up until I did.” He sighed, far too relaxed compared to me.
I was jumping, itching, crawling with…something, yet he was unaffected. Which only further emphasized that he didn’t want me the way I did him.
“Plus, she folds my underwear, remember? Gotta make sure she doesn’t stick ants in them or something.”
“Yeah, like Addie would ever stoop to your level.” I couldn’t help but grin, my nerves easing slightly.
He squeezed my ribs. “You would.”
I turned to face him, our noses inches apart. “Damn right I would.”
A slow nod later, he moved even closer, our bodies in sync…
My smile fell away. “Maxwell,” I whispered, so lost in his dark eyes that I couldn’t concentrate. The apology was there on my tongue like earlier, but the need weighing me down was even heavier. How could I ever be just friends with a guy who was likely to break my heart, no matter what we were to each other?
“Tell me why you kissed me that night.” He looked at my lips, a serious glint in his eyes.
Blood rushed to my face at his out-o f- the- blue question. My composure slipped as confusion took its place. Why was he asking me this?
“Because I…” I gulped. “I owed you, remember? For bailing me out and for keeping me safe from those guys.”
Something shifted in his eyes. Disappointment? I squeezed my eyes shut at the thought. When I looked back at him, I knew I was imagining things, because flirty, fun Max was back, winking at me. “Well then.” He cleared his throat. “That’s good to know.”

DEADLY PREMONITIONS (Safeguard #6) by Kennedy Layne
Synopsis USA Today Bestselling Author Kennedy Layne continues the Safeguard Series with this fast-paced romantic suspense novel that leads the SSI team on the trail of a serial killer who continually seems to be one step ahead…
Coen Flynn has always done the right thing, even it meant siding against his own family. His sense of justice was what led him to take a job in law enforcement, though his choice of agency was a bit unorthodox. His current assignment was believed to be a simple protection detail. He was never supposed to be identified by his charge, but a murder took priority and changed the course of his mission.
Brettany Lambert’s life is suddenly rocked when she finds the body of a dead friend on the eve of what was supposed to be a special wedding. Now Brettany and Coen are trapped in the middle of a blizzard and their attraction will fuel the heat of temptation. Good intentions always have a way of backfiring, but his desired intent won’t matter if a notorious serial killer can finish what he started.

Excerpt Shailyn hadn’t expected Townes to close the distance between them, but he slowly advanced until he stood mere inches from her. She tried not to breathe, but it became involuntary. The faint scent of his cologne took away the years as if they were nothing more than dandelions gone to seed, blowing away in the wind. She was already shaking her head to deny his attempt to change her mind.
“I am so sorry.”
Those four words were said with such tender sincerity that he brought an immediate cascade of tears to her eyes. The remorse written across his rugged features broke her heart all over again. She tentatively reached up and found herself stroking his scar with her thumb in comfort.
“Had you come to me back then during the trial, I would have told you that you had nothing to be sorry for,” Shailyn murmured, hoping her words eased whatever guilt he still held close to his heart. All she’d ever wanted back then was for him to hold her and tell her it would all be okay. Instead, he’d turned into himself and believed he was solely to blame for her maiming. He was also mistaking her refusal to help him now due to a retaliation of sorts. That couldn’t be further from the truth. “It was my own mistake that put me in Moss’ path, not yours nor anyone else’s.”
“I was hired to protect you,” Townes reminded her forcefully, though he didn’t pull away from her touch. His grey eyes darkened upon his confession. “Instead, I became involved with you. I lost sight of my objective. I failed.”
“That isn’t the truth, and it certainly isn’t the reason I’m walking away now.”

Welcome to the book blitz for BELIEVE IN MY HEART, a stand-alone holiday romance in the adult contemporary romance series, Tangled Hearts, by Maria K. Alexander. See below for information on the book, buy links, an exclusive excerpt, and details on her giveaway.
BELIEVE IN MY HEART (Tangled Hearts #4) by Maria K. Alexander
Synopsis Culinary arts student, Hope Mastriano, is down on her luck. Homeless on Thanksgiving Day, she’s caught trying to break into her cousin’s apartment by her sexy boss and lifelong secret crush.
Since getting dumped seven months ago, head chef Vinnie DiFrancesco has been in a frustrating holding pattern. He returns relaxed from a retreat, but his life is sent into a tailspin when he offers Hope, the event coordinator at his family’s trattoria, temporary housing.
With the trattoria’s traditional Italian Christmas Eve charity dinner slated to be featured on a local TV segment and things heating up in his apartment, the two must set aside their different visions to make the event a success. When a computer glitch threatens their plans, Hope proposes a risky solution. Vinnie must believe in Hope and his heart in order to secure the future of the restaurant and make it a Christmas to remember.
Besides, their arrangement is only for one week. Then they’ll be continents apart again, and life will go on. Right?
—————————————————————————–
—————————————————————————–
Excerpt #3 Now, all Vinnie wanted was to be able to take the business they put love, sweat, and tears into and continue its success. To make them proud and prove that, while he may only be a small-time chef, he was the best small-time chef in the tri-state area. His family had crowned him with that title, but having reviews to support that claim would do a lot for the reputation of the trattoria as well as Vinnie’s own self-esteem.
“And maybe after the charity dinner, we’ll make Philadelphia magazine’s list of the top fifty restaurants,” Vinnie said.
“From your lips to God’s ears,” his mother said.
As he made his way through the group, he noticed Hope wasn’t among them. He stopped Susie as she started to pass him. “Where’d Hope go?”
“She got a message on her phone and headed to the back in a panic.”
Vinnie wove his way to the office where he found Hope on the computer, fingers typing and clicking with a frightening speed. In the background, he heard the ring of the phone as all three lines were lit. “What’s up?”
She answered without losing momentum. “The server that hosts the trattoria’s website crashed.”
“Why?”
“Well, on the plus side, lots of people saw the Good Morning Philadelphia spot. Only now our phone lines are jammed, and there are more people trying to hit our website than the server can handle.”
“Can you fix it?”
“I’m trying. I’m having an online chat with someone from the hosting site, and hopefully what I’ve done will work, but we have a bigger issue, Vin.”
“What?”
“We’ve now booked more reservations for the charity auction than we can accommodate.”

He checked his watch. “Wheels up in thirty minutes. Frazer, talk to Matt and tell him what’s going down. Get Scarlett up here pronto. Everyone else, gear up.”
“Aye aye, Captain,” Frazer said cheerfully.
“Ashley. I want every piece of information we can get on the whereabouts of each of these players. Let’s see if we can use street cameras for real time surveillance and track cell phones to fix locations until we get eyes-on. Can we talk to Langley and get some additional resources on this?”
Killion nodded and started dialing. “I’ll ask.”
Alex checked his weapon.
Frazer threw him a flak-jacket. “Put that on.”
Alex made a face.
“I need to get you to the altar without any missing pieces or 9mm body piercings. Everyone wears body armor,” Frazer said loudly. “French police will step in to make the arrests. As soon as Alex gets the weapon and girl off the boat Interpol calls in the cops. Even if Masook is warned at that point he can do very little about it, except run.” Frazer eyed Alex. “Perhaps it would be an idea to stop by the helicopter and make sure it can’t take off?”
“What about the Russian’s machine?” Ashley asked.
“Pilot just went to refuel,” Logan said. “Think Interpol could figure out an excuse to make sure the roundtrip lasts longer than necessary?”
Frazer nodded. “I’ll call my contact.”
“That contact better be solidly on our side,” warned Alex. Just call him cynical, but he’d been in the business long enough not to trust any unknown factors.
“I guess we’ll find out,” Frazer said cryptically.
“Here goes nothing.” Alex stood. As much as he wanted to call Mallory he didn’t. He needed to focus on the mission.

Synopsis You’d think a girl with the most romantic name in the world would have her pick of boyfriends.
But Valentine’s Day sucks when you’re single. Just ask Juliet Valentine, whose last name happens to also be the name of the most dreaded made-up holiday ever.
A romantic at heart, this year is especially hard on Juliet. Her sister, Layla, is in a new relationship, her mom’s match-making business is doing great, and her school’s new fundraiser is “Love-Grams.”
Juliet’s miserable, a little jealous, and lonely.
Quarterback Jared Black is the most popular guy in school. A star athlete, Jared tops the most-eligible bachelor list year after year. But to Juliet Valentine, he’s all but invisible. She isn’t impressed.
Jared’s never had to work hard to get the attention of a girl before. Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and he’s determined to ask Juliet out. After all, if Tyler can win over Layla, Jared ought to have a shot with Layla’s sister.
Unlike Tyler and Layla, charm, flattery and good looks won’t work on Juliet. So with the V-Day dance coming up, Jared uses the school’s Love-Grams to let Juliet know how he feels. Should be simple enough, right?
Wrong. Each attempt ends up either in the trash or thrown in someone’s face. Juliet won’t play his game.
Now, without a date to the dance Jared realizes it’s going to take a Hail Mary to win the girl of his dreams..
