Synopsis Jesse dreams of working the land that’s been in his family forever. But he’s cursed to lose everything he loves most.
Scarlett is desperate to escape her “charmed” life. But leaving a small town is easier said than done.
Despite their history of heartbreak, when Jesse sees a way they can work together to each get what they want, Scarlett can’t say no.Each midnight meeting between Jesse and Scarlett will push them to confront their secrets and their feelings for each other.
A scraping of a chair, a tray full of food and I glance over with my practiced smile in welcome. It’s not Camila, Evangeline, or anyone else from the group. It’s green eyes, red hair, a familiar mischievous smile that used to be reserved only for me, and my blood pounds with excitement as if someone lit a sparkler in my chest. Then I frown because I’m not supposed to feel this way. Not with him. Not with anyone.
Jesse Lachlin winks at me as he sits across from me like no time has passed from when we climbed trees together. “What’s up, Tink?”
Another thrill runs through me but then my muscles tighten. Stupid, antiquated reaction belonging to a dead past. “What are you doing here?”
Jesse pops a fry into his mouth, chews, then picks up another as if he has no intention of answering. I scan the cafeteria. Several people are watching us, curious as to why Jesse Lachlin is sitting with me, or is event at lunch, or even at school.
From the lunch line, Camila’s and Evangeline’s eyes are bugging out of their heads.
What is going on? Camila mouths.
I raise my eyebrows to inform her I have no idea. Jesse digs into his corn with his fork and that’s crossing a line. “Maybe you didn’t hear me, but I asked what you’re doing here.”
He lifts his eyes to meet mine and there’s a glimmer in them that causes my lips to flatten. Fantastic. He’s here to make my life a living hell.
“It seems obvious,” he says.
If he remembers anything about me, he should recall I was never known for my patience and that he should be speaking, and speaking soon. “Just answer the question.”
“I’m eating lunch.”
I honest to God groan in frustration. “There’s no room at the inn.”
He surveys the table, takes in the empty seats, my books, and then gives me a good look. A slow look. As if he’s trying to memorize every inch he’s drinking in. My cheeks redden because that somehow feels a little too intimate for lunch. Feels a little too intimate for someone I’m no longer friends with. It feels too intimate if we werefriends.
I glance away, but I sense him still staring at me. God help me, I want to stare back.

Today is release day for DARING THE DETECTIVE, the third book in the adult historical romance series, Restitution League, by Riley Cole. See below for information on the book and series, buy links, and an exclusive teaser.
DARING THE DETECTIVE (Restitution League #3) by Riley Cole
About the Author Riley has a long fascination with all things Victorian. She loves the peculiar mix of science, mysticism and innovation that collided in the Victorian Era.
To say nothing of bustles. Bustles and elaborate hats and parasols. Parasols for rain. Parasols for sun. And parasols that morph into swords…of course.
Sadly, Riley has little use for umbrellas in the dry foothills of the Eastern Sierra, but she consoles herself with forest hikes and dips in cool mountain lakes. Besides—no matter where one resides—a proper cuppa never comes amiss.
If you enjoy a little high adventure—and a lot of desire—with your historical romance, delve into Riley’s version of late Victorian London.

Synopsis Beautiful. Haunting. Rare. The Fabergé Eggs are on display at the Carter Museum of History and Science. Jason Hood, the museum’s pretentious owner, knows their value is bound to attract attention, but the coordinated attack on the exhibit is not something he saw coming. A field trip to the museum for Amara Massey and her students takes a deadly turn. She finds herself at the center of a police investigation with few leads. Convinced Amara is withholding information, Jason pursues her to get the answers he cannot get on his own. The outcome neither of them expect is their surprising need for each other. What must they sacrifice to get everything they want?
Interview Q: What is the first book that made you cry? A: Not the first book, but a scene from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Harry witnesses Cedric’s death-I think I was just riding on the emotion of the series and then when that scene hit, I just started to cry. The dialogue and actions were beautifully written.
Q: What are some traps aspiring writers should avoid? A: It is important for writers to create the story they want to write. I’ve made the mistake of letting people review manuscripts too early, and then making every little change. Feedback is extremely valuable, but there is a time and a place for incorporating suggestions and building confidence for what must stay and what should go. A writer can lose valuable writing time changing every detail based on each suggestion. Bottom line? Trust your vision.
Q: Have you ever gotten reader’s block? A: Big yes. I was just telling a friend that I’ve been in a reading slump the last few months. I think it’s because I see the story from a writer’s POV now or maybe because there are so many choices for books in every genre, that it can feel overwhelming with what to pick and what to read.
Q: As a writer, what would you choose as your avatar or spirit animal? A: Big Foot. It reminds me of Indie Authors. We’re out there and we’re writing and publishing even if you can’t see us.
Q: What’s the best way to market your books? A: Word-of-mouth is still the most powerful tool, but with social media, I like engaging in readers that I follow on Instagram or Twitter and asking them to beta read. If they like the story, they’ll do these amazing posts with the cover of the book and reach far more readers than I can do on my own.
Q: Do you view writing as a spiritual practice. A: Yes. The heart has so much to say.
Q: How do you select the names of your characters? A: I look up names on baby naming websites. They’re all there with rankings and popularity. Mostly though, I just look to see if a name catches my attention.
Q: Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find? A: Yes, there’s always the occasional inside joke or word choice that is based on someone I know. Whether they pick up on it, I can’t say 😉
Q: What is your favorite childhood book? A: Nothing’s Fair in the Fifth Grade by Barthe DeClements
Q: Do you believe in writer’s block? A: Absolutely. I was at a writing retreat a few years ago and Sylvia Day was the guest speaker. She said that writer’s block means that something is wrong with your story and that point resonated. Now instead of wasting time trying to move forward if I’m stuck, I go back and re-read the chapters before, and that usually unlocks the problem and the solution.

See below for information on the book, buy links, an exclusive excerpt, and details on her giveaway. For a limited time, you can pick up the eBook for just $0.99.
RESISTING THE RANCHER (Hills of Texas #2) by Kadie Scott
Rusty Walker has spent her entire life trying to earn her tough, ranching father’s respect and approval by learning the business inside and out. But now her uncompromising parent has decreed she must marry if she wants to inherit. Worse, her husband has to be someone who can help her run the business. As if she needs it!
Williams Hill kissed Rusty in a bar in an act of temporary insanity, and lost his heart to her on the spot. Despite the complications to his own rodeo stock business, he agrees to marry the feisty red-head, hoping to woo her once they’re hitched. But she only views him with suspicion and resentment.
Can this soft-spoken Texas cowboy convince his proud wife, who’s never known unconditional love, that she is everything he wants?
Excerpt #2 Williams Hill dragged his hand over his face as he sat in his truck at a stoplight in Estes Park, Colorado. After two straight days of driving up from Texas, he was ready to reach his destination of the rodeo grounds in the small Rocky Mountain town. Flexing his shoulders to work out the kinks, he happened to glance over at the vehicle stopped next to him.
Everything in him froze… then released in a pent-up laugh.
The woman driving a shiny new black Ford truck was gorgeous with high cheekbones and pouty lips. Her long hair was pulled back in a ponytail, so he couldn’t quite make out the color, but her appearance wasn’t what had made him laugh.
She was clearly enjoying a favorite song—singing and dancing for all she was worth, without a care in the world for who might be watching. He chuckled again as she did a little shoulder shimmy. Adorable was the word that struck him, and he was strangely affected, an instant attraction coiling inside in a way that surprised him.
He wasn’t an instant attraction kind of guy.
Suddenly, she glanced toward him and stilled as she discovered her audience. Her eyes went wide and she sent him a sheepish grin. He smiled back and pretended to tip an imaginary hat. However, instead of another smile, she went cold on him, eyes hardening, lips thinning. She whipped her head around to face forward, her chin in the air, and didn’t glance his way again. She definitely didn’t start singing again. Not that she would have had much time, because the light changed a second later.
She was quick to hit the gas, faster on the draw than Will, who was still blinking at her abrupt about-face. He almost expected her windows to frost with the drop in temperature in there. A flash of bright pink on her back window caught his attention as she drove ahead of him. For the second time in a handful of minutes, Will chuckled. The sparkly sticker on the back of her truck read Silly Boys, Trucks are for Girls. Lips tipped in amusement, he shook his head.
At the next light, she went straight when he turned, which meant she probably wasn’t there for the rodeo. He gave a mental shrug. Wouldn’t be seeing her again. Probably for the best, since he was here to work.
About the Author Award-winning contemporary romance author, Kadie Scott, grew up consuming books and exploring the world through her writing. She attempted to find a practical career related to her favorite pastime by earning a degree in English Rhetoric (Technical Writing). However, she swiftly discovered that writing without imagination is not nearly as fun as writing with it.
No matter the genre, she loves to write witty, feisty heroines, sexy heroes who deserve them, and a cast of lovable characters to surround them (and maybe get their own stories). She currently resides in Austin, Texas, with her own personal hero, her husband, and their two children, who are growing up way too fast.

Synopsis Centuries ago in plague-struck Italy, Julian DiConti cast a powerful spell in desperation to have the magical power to be able to help his people who were dying in horrific conditions. The spell goes spectacularly awry, leaving Julian enslaved to a Djinn bottle, bound to grant three wishes to each Master of the bottle until the spell can be broken. More than anything, Julian longs for a normal life – for a home, and a family. After six hundred years, however, he has begun to despair of ever being freed from the spell.
Enter Alessandra Taylor, a young woman who has followed her calling to help others, in the face of vociferous disapproval from her family, particularly her controlling father. Working at a shelter for battered women, she’s thrilled to meet the reclusive Julian DiConti, whose collection of garments from third world countries has provided funding for shelters across the country. When Julian turns out to be a Djinn from the old bottle she found in her attic, she hears his story and empathizes with his despair. Although she’s willing to free him, he can’t tell her how. As time goes by, their initial attraction blossoms into a love that both realize is doomed. Once she has made her third wish, the magic of the bottle will whisk Julian away and out of her life forever… unless she can somehow figure out how to free him. But one by one, she’s forced to use the precious wishes to help others.
Excerpt #3 Jackson called Laura to consult with one of the movers, and Alessandra watched as her sister hurried across the room to take part in a spirited discussion with the two men.
“She’s getting along really well,” Alessandra told Julian in an undertone. “I can’t believe how happy she looks! It hasn’t been so very long, either.”
“She’s been unhappy for a long time,” Julian said. “Now she’s finally discovering what it’s like to be able to be herself.”
Alessandra agreed. “She never had a chance to be herself, or even to find out who she is… not in our house, anyway. We all had to do what we were told, what was expected of us, even once we were grown. Father chose Robert for Laura, you know. Hand-picked from his top crop of salesmen and business associates. He picked someone for all my sisters.”
“And did he pick one for you?” Julian asked, cocking an eyebrow at her.
“Of course.” She smirked in fond memory. “I dumped hot soup in the lap of the first one during dinner, the night Father brought him home to introduce to me.”
“Then there was that guy who lived with his mother, even though he had to be at least thirty,” Laura chimed in, having apparently broken off another sotto voce altercation with Jackson to catch this last part. “On the day before he took you to meet him, you went and got your nose pierced, and got a henna tattoo that looked very permanent on your right breast, just where it would show over the top of your shirt.”
“Yes, and I bought a very low-cut tank top and denim mini-skirt,” Alessandra remembered with apparent pleasure. “And I wore coffin heeled shoes and purple plaid hose that sagged.” She grinned. “Those were the days.”
“The black lipstick was a nice touch. I thought Father would have a fit,” Laura offered with a giggle.

Welcome to the book blitz for THE DEVIL’S PACT, the third book in the young adult/new adult historical dark fantasy series, The Devil’s Revolver, by V.S. McGrath. See below for information on the book and series, buy links, an exclusive excerpt, and details on her giveaway. You can read my 5-star review of THE DEVIL’S REVOLVER, book one in the series, here.
THE DEVIL’S PACT (The Devil’s Revolver #3) by V.S. McGrath
Synopsis Hold on to your hats — the Devil’s Revolver series is back with an evil twin, deep magic, zombies, menacing grand balls, a train heist, hand-to-hand high-stakes battles, and two sisters who have grown in their power to face and fight the end of the Weird West.
If Hettie Alabama could do what she was told and stand down . . . she might not anyway. Especially when the letters her sister sends from her place of hiding don’t seem quite right, and Hettie’s posse is tying her hands tighter by the day. She’s itching to take the safety off her cursed mage gun, the Devil’s Revolver, and walk through the fire to end the reign of evil that’s choking the magic out of the West—not to mention save her sister once and for all.
The only problem? Hettie’s name is in the headlines and on every wanted poster in the nation—but she’s not the one robbing banks and killing innocents, even if the pictures look just like her. She’s up to her chin in high-necked gowns and beauty glamors, charged with fulfilling her word to the influential Favreau family of New Orleans, even as it becomes increasingly clear that they want only to consolidate the world’s waning magic in the hands of the rich and powerful. The politics get more personal as the most loyal of Hettie’s gang uncover the threat of an immoderate technology that steals magic from the unwitting innocent and transfers it to the nefarious elite.
Hettie has no choice but to go rogue, and when she drops a black hat over her brow, the Devil’s Revolver’s trigger glows hot. The Devil’s Pact stampedes from San Francisco’s Chinatown tongs through the glittering high society of Chicago to the hidden swamps of the Deep South in its search for truth, genuine justice, and an end to a world that refuses to recognize the power and change wrought by girls.
Excerpt #3 She clambered over the rooftops, jumping the gaps between buildings with relative ease, since they were so close together. She spotted a large canvas-covered cart in the street pulled by four ragged horses. It was one of those old covered wagons like they used back when settlers were still making their way across the country, and it looked out of place in the city. Hettie climbed down a fire escape, but as she wove through traffic, the time bubble popped—
Suddenly, she was smack-dab in the middle of oncoming traffic. A man shouted and hauled on his reins. His hansom cab buckled violently, and the horse reared. Hettie scampered out of the way of its hooves and directly into the path of another cart. The man’s horses faltered and tried to skirt around her, but then the cart they were pulling plowed into them, and they whinnied in panic, veering to the side and crashing into another rider.
Hettie ran toward the covered wagon, summoning Diablo and trying to re-establish the time bubble. No good. The same thing had happened during the train robbery.
A man peeked out of the covered wagon. He shouted and drew his sidearm. Hettie zigzagged to avoid the gunshots and pulled Diablo’s trigger, unleashing a blast of green power that incinerated the man’s arm up to his shoulder.
Two more men appeared with rifles. Hettie ducked left and rolled behind a cart as the bullets bit into the cab, showering her with splinters. The passengers within screamed.
Traffic ground to a halt and people dove out of their vehicles while the drivers tried to get their horses under control. The covered wagon surged forward and plowed through the street while the men in the back continued an assault on the cab Hettie hid behind.
She had to stop that wagon.
She whipped around the corner and fired. Diablo let out a wide beam of power that took out the right two wheels. The wagon collapsed with a loud crash, sending up a wake of splinters. The whole right side of the wagon tore off, and the canopy ripped away from the U-shaped frame as it snapped up like angry fish spines.
People screamed as carts, drivers and pedestrians tried to escape the gunfire and chaos. Horses thrashed and reared, whinnying as the vehicles piled up. Hettie ran toward the wagon.
It was empty. Unless Dr. Fielding had somehow escaped…
One of the men with the rifles who’d tumbled from the wagon pushed up off the ground. He spotted Hettie and, in a panic, reached for his pistol.
Hettie pointed Diablo at him. “Don’t.”
He blinked at her. “I-I-I’m sorry, Mizzay, I didn’t realize—” He stuttered to a stop. “Wait, you’re not—”
Hettie cocked Diablo for show. “Where’s Dr. Fielding?”
He gaped. “I—I don’t know—”
Hettie blew a molten hole in the ground next to his feet, and he stumbled back. “Where is he?”
“I was just supposed to stay in the cart! I don’t know anything!” His eyes canted left. Hettie reacted a second too late.
Someone cinched an arm around her neck and dragged her backward. Hettie struggled, dropping Diablo as she tried to pry her fingers under the man’s elbow to get a breath.
She sank her teeth into the man’s thick muscle, then slammed her heel into his shin, twisting to throw him off balance. He yelped and let go. She dove for Diablo and before she could stop herself, fired.
The man’s shriek was cut off almost instantly as he evaporated, flaring like a hellish green grease fire.
The agony of the revolver’s blood price was instant, shredding through skin, flesh and bone as it extracted one year of Hettie’s life for the life she’d taken. The pain went on and on, as if she were the one being consumed by flame. It’d been months since she’d killed a man; months since she’d slaked Diablo’s bloodthirst. And the mage gun’s appetite was insatiable. For a flash, she thought she was back in hell, being swallowed and forced down into Satan’s gullet—and then it was over.
Through the haze of relief, Hettie barely registered the person standing over her, pistol drawn, its blank, black eye winking at her.

Welcome to the blog tour for TWO THOUSAND YEARS, the first book in the new adult fantasy series, The Empire Saga, byM. Dalto. See below for information on the book, buy links, an exclusive excerpt, and details on her giveaway.
TWO THOUSAND YEARS (The Empire Saga #1 by M. Dalto
Synopsis Two thousand years ago, the Prophecy of Fire and Light foretold the coming of the Queen Empress who would lead the Empire into a time of peace and tranquility. But instead of the coming of a prosperous world, a forbidden love for the Empress waged a war that ravaged the land, creating a chasm between the factions, raising the death toll of innocent lives until the final, bloody battle.
Centuries later, Alexandra, a twenty-two-year-old barista living in Boston, is taken to an unfamiliar realm of mystery and magic where her life is threatened by Reylor, its banished Lord Steward. She crosses paths with Treyan, the arrogant and seductive Crown Prince of the Empire, and together they discover how their lives, and their love, are so intricately intertwined by a Prophecy set in motion so many years ago.
Alex, now the predestined Queen Empress Alexstrayna, whose arrival was foretold by the Annals of the Empire, controls the fate of her new home as war rages between the Crown Prince and Lord Steward. Either choice could tear her world apart as she attempts to keep the Empire’s torrid history from repeating itself. In a realm where betrayal and revenge will be as crucial to her survival as love and honor, Alex must discover whether it is her choice – or her fate – that determines how she survives the Empire’s rising conflicts.
Excerpt #4 Her hand grasped at her breast as she tried to catch her breath. The material of her dress clung to her sweat-soaked body as she heaved for air. Wiping away tears from her cheeks, she realized it was a dream, and only a dream. Even as she could still feel the heat of his breath against her skin, and the weight of those restraints around her wrists…
It was only a dream.
But still, it felt too real, and that terrified her all the same.
Calming herself, she looked around to find herself in yet another strange room. This room was better furnished, at least from what she could tell. The mahogany bed was extremely comfortable and nearly a fortress with four posts rising to the ceiling and sheer curtains creating a canopy. The comforter was made of fine fur and filled with down and on either side of the bed were matching double-drawered bedside tables.
Finally, able to calm her heart after the jolt of waking, she flopped herself back down on the mound of pillows underneath her head and let out a breath she didn’t even know she was holding.
She needed to think.
She tried to wrap her head around all that had transpired over these last few days—at least she thought it was days. Time was starting to waver, and she felt like a stranded sailor at sea. Of course, it was hard for her to discern the time when sleep kept falling upon her time and again, and now she felt robbed of both time and information. As to what exactly was happening, however, she was still in the dark—literally and figuratively.
According to what Treyan told her, she was a prophesized Empress for a world she didn’t know existed, being hunted by his estranged twin brother for who knows whatever reason.
She’d have thought him completely insane if not for the dreams she had the night before…
She shuddered at the memory.
Rolling to her side, Alex closed her eyes for a moment as she tried to collect her thoughts. She wondered if anyone in Boston was missing her yet—if Crystal had sounded an alarm after her phone call, or if she assumed Alex was merely overreacting after a night of excessive drinking. Knowing Crystal, she’d probably remain in bed all weekend nursing the hangover she liked to enjoy for days, regardless of the concern Alex’s call may have instilled.
Thinking about home made her groan and sink deeper into the blankets. She needed to get back. The comfort of the bed, and the care Treyan seemed to have for her well-being, they weren’t enough to keep her here. Whatever fantasy he may have had about who she was and what she was supposed to do was just that—nothing more than some delusion that there was an alternate world where she mattered. If she remained any longer, playing into this farce, she was bound to lose her mind, among everything else.
No, she needed to get home. She needed to get back to the world she actually knew, even if there wasn’t much waiting for her there. Even if it was a shitty job and a small apartment waiting for her, it was still her home.

SOLITUDE (Cunningham Security #4) by A.K. Evans (Full Cover)
Excerpt Pulling my phone out, I saw Ava had sent several texts.
OMG. I found the perfect guy for you. He’s not blonde and he’s really, really tall.
A second text followed that.
Jojo, this man.
I started laughing until I continued on to her third text.
I just approached him.
Oh no. I was going to kill her. I knew this once I read her fourth and fifth text.
He’s single. I’ve confirmed it. He seems like he could be interested in a good time.
And he’s nice.
I finally responded.
What is wrong with you?
She replied almost instantly.
Nothing. Get over here. I’m still over by the bar. I’ll just make a quick introduction and skedaddle to our reserved area.
I let out a sigh. As I walked over, I came up with a game plan. I figured if the guy was hot and seemed nice enough, I could have a drink with him. If not, I’d blame my inability to chat on needing to not ditch my co-workers.
When the area of the bar where Ava and I had been sitting earlier came into view, I thought my eyes had to be deceiving me. Ava’s back was to me as she was rambling on about something, likely me, to the man next to her. I had to give her credit. The guy was gorgeous. He wasn’t blonde and he was tall. There was one small problem, though.
The man was Lorenzo.
I took in a deep breath, let it out, and moved over to her.
“…and it’s been a while for her. I just want her to have a good time tonight,” Ava said until she stopped speaking because Lorenzo was no longer paying attention to her.
He caught sight of me, ran his eyes over the length of my body until they settled on my face, and never returned his attention to my outspoken friend.
Ava noticed he was distracted and turned around to find me standing there.
“Here she is,” she declared. “Jojo, this is…I’m sorry, what’s your name?”
“Right, sorry,” she muttered. “Jojo, this is Lorenzo. And Lorenzo, this is my friend, Jolie. Everyone calls her Jojo.”
I looked to Lorenzo and asked, “Would you excuse us one second?”
He gave me a nod.
I grabbed Ava’s hand and dragged her a few feet away as she called out to him, “Save her seat!”
When we’d moved out of earshot of Lorenzo, I leaned in and seethed, “What did you say to him?”
Oblivious to what she’d just done, she was grinning from ear to ear. “First, I confirmed that he wasn’t here with anyone and that he wasn’t meeting anyone. Once I established that he was single and available, I told him, in not so many words, that I had a friend who needed some companionship before we had to buy stock in batteries.”
I closed my eyes and stood up straight to pinch the bridge of my nose. “Please tell me you did not do that.”
“Jo, have you seen him?” she cried. “That guy is gorgeous. I know you’d prefer to have a relationship, but if that guy can give your hands a break for the night, why not?!”
“I know him!” I nearly exploded.
She jerked her head back in surprise. “You know that guy and you haven’t hooked up with him?”
Just then, a few more of our co-workers had arrived and walked up to us. I took in another deep breath and advised, “I’m going to go deal with the colossal mess you’ve just put me in. I’ll meet up with you in a few minutes.”
Ava took off with the girls from work and I turned back to Lorenzo.
I was in big trouble.
Author A.K. Evans
About the Author A.K. Evans is a married mother of two boys residing in a small town in northeastern Pennsylvania. After graduating from Lafayette College in 2004 with two degrees (one in English and one in Economics & Business), she pursued a career in the insurance and financial services industry. Not long after, Evans realized the career was not for her. She went on to manage her husband’s performance automotive business and drive the shop race cars for the next thirteen years. While the business afforded her freedoms she wouldn’t necessarily have had in a typical 9-5 job, after eleven years she was no longer receiving personal fulfillment from her chosen career path. Following many discussions, lots of thought, and tons of encouragement, Andrea decided to pursue her dream of becoming a writer.
Between her day job, writing, and homeschooling her two boys, Evans is left with very little free time. When she finds scraps of spare time, she enjoys reading, doing yoga, watching NY Rangers hockey, dancing, and vacationing with her family. Andrea, her husband, and her children are currently working on taking road trips to visit all 50 states (though, Alaska and Hawaii might require flights).
Welcome to the blog tour for SOUPUSS, a standalone new adult dark comedy by Merricat Mulwray. See below for information on the book, preorder links, an exclusive excerpt, and details on their giveaway.
Synopsis Sourpuss is a blistering satire of the depraved and entitled culture that pervades college campuses.
Mallory Wahl loathes the campus party scene . . .
She’s sprinting through her senior year obsessed with winning a spot on the US Olympic track team. But she runs straight into a hurdle in the form of fraternity president Graham Patterson, an intern assigned to help her recover from an injury – one she blames on him.
Once Graham’s therapies begin to work, Mallory pretends to fall in love but traps herself in her own scheme and tailspins deep into his debauched world. When a scandal erupts which threatens to shatter her Olympic dreams once and for all, Mallory must finally face the dark truth she’s been running from since freshman year.
In the style of a ’90s dark comedy flick, Merricat Mulwray’s debut brings an insightful and humorous perspective to the reckless behavior college students perpetually get away with. Mallory, herself a flawed heroine, is backed by a self-serving cast of athletes, party girls, townies, and fraternity brothers so hilariously dark that the book will leave you wondering if anyone ever gets what they deserve..
Darius Gives Mallory A Ride
Darius yelled back that he couldn’t have his girl ride the campus shuttle and turned his Jeep perpendicular to the street, driving up to the curb. Passing students and campus commuters blared their horns in protest. He jumped out of the driver’s seat and waved them all past. “Kenny, come get these crutches,” he commanded to the huge second lineman in the car. Before Mallory could protest, Darius had already picked her up.
“Is your leg properly elevated?” he asked when he set her down in the front seat. “Are you comfortable?” She shifted as the chorus of large men now squeezed into the back seat asked if she was comfortable enough.
“What did the doc say?” Darius asked.
“Nothing much, it’s fine. Just a lot jabbering on about proper care.”
“I thought you got the all clear. Callie told me you were starting physio.”
“Oh, did she? Did she also tell you that Coach Green is trying to have me rehab with some joke of a student intern?”
“Oh, they’re putting you in the Horace program? That shit is bomb.”
“Are we talking about the same thing? The interns?”
“Oh, hell yeah. I did that when I had my hamstring injury. Yo. It’s so much better. You get to work with someone on your own level. These guys are all into the latest. They do way more for you than some old-ass man telling you to stretch or just sit in the ice bath. I got back to form faster than when I’ve been out before. I have the same injury all the time. But not since I worked with my boy from Horace.”
“I hate to tell you but the program must have taken a serious shit dive since you were in it.”
“Really? It’s a hard program to get into. Who you with?”
“That condescending asshole that was bothering you during the meet. I doubt you know him personally. A total piece of work. President of some shitty frat. Not only did he insult me, but he also had the nerve to think he was actually gonna put me on a supplement program.”
“You mean Graham Patterson? He’s not the president of some frat, he’s president of the frat. Graham’s my dog! See, they always put the best with the best,” he said to the backseat.
Mallory stared at him. She wasn’t sure if he was ignoring her or just preferred to listen to himself speak.
“No, you don’t understand.”
“What’d he do?”
“I told you. He insulted me.”
“How?” Darius asked again with a side eye.
“It was more of an underlying attitude.” Mallory paused.
“Sounds like he was trying to get to work. Already came up with a supplement plan.”
“No, I can’t. He’s an asshole.”
The Jeep pulled up to her place, and Darius looked at Mallory. He was giving her the pained look every student gave to the one kid asking questions when everybody else wants to move on. “Asshole? Yo, do you guys know Patterson to be an asshole?” The consensus returned a no vote.
“Yeah, he’s not an asshole. You’ll do well to work with him. You’ll vibe with him.”
“I really prefer to just get myself together.”
“Look. You know I don’t fuck around when it comes to this shit. You’re a few months away from trials. You and I know both know that Kathy Voss just broke your fastest time.”
She’d heard the news yesterday after her interlude with Graham. The news made her so upset she’d hid in the bathroom, alternating between screaming and biting into a towel.
“Oh, you think no one knows about that? Everybody does. You need to get back and you need to get back quick. She’s not better than you, but she’ll take what’s yours if you don’t get your mind right. If I tell you to work with the guy, then work with the guy.”

Welcome to the blog tour for WRONG BED, RIGHT ROOMMATE, the first book in the adult contemporary romance series, Accidental Love, by Rebecca Brooks. See below for information on the book, buy links, an exclusive excerpt, and details on her giveaway.
WRONG BED, RIGHT ROOMMATE (Accidental Love #1) by Rebecca Brooks
Synopsis It’s not every day you wake up to a stranger getting into your bed. Only, he isn’t a stranger at all, he’s my best friend’s hot older brother…and apparently my new roommate. Having him in my space, driving me crazy, isn’t a problem at all. Nope. All I need to do is keep control of the situation…
But that’s easier said than done. Shawn Lassiter is the kind of distraction I don’t need.
First he accidentally gets into my bed, half-naked, the night before my first day at my new job. Hello, muscles and tattoos! Then he’s there, in nothing but a towel, making me coffee in the morning. It’s more than any girl can resist. Right? But Shawn is off-limits, even if his eyes are saying differently.
Years ago, back when I still had my crush, he destroyed friendships with his reckless playboy antics. There’s no way I’m touching those perfectly formed abs now. I don’t care how nice and responsible he’s acting. I don’t want a boyfriend anyway. That’s what my trusty vibrator is for. I’m the smart girl—the glasses-wearing, book-reading workaholic. I can totally do this.
After all, it’s only for two and a half months. I’ll be on my best behavior…even if Shawn isn’t.
Excerpt #1 Shawn unzipped his jeans and yanked off his pants, leaving them on the floor as well. This was so much better than Brandon’s shitty couch. Quiet, darkness, a door that closed, an actual bed, and no need to worry about leaving his stuff all over the floor.
By the time he’d stripped down to his boxers, he didn’t even want to brush his teeth. Tomorrow. He’d deal with everything then. He pulled back the covers, ready to collapse into bed.
All of a sudden, somebody screamed.
He fell onto something warm and wriggling wildly against him. “Get away from me!” the voice cried, pushing him off.
He tumbled to the side, tangled in sheets, heart pounding as he tried to keep from falling off the bed. What the ever-loving fuck?
He was turning over, trying to keep his boxers up and his sensitive parts protected as a leg kicked at him, when a light came on, blinding him instantly. In bed—in his bed, the bed he’d been about to crawl into—was a very startled, very beautiful, nearly-naked woman.
She snatched up the sheet to cover the gorgeous curve of her breasts filling out a thin tank top, the straps falling partway off her shoulders. But it was too late, he’d already gotten an eyeful. Thank fucking everything he hadn’t taken off his boxers, or it would be even more obvious what he thought of the view.
Talia must have had a second roommate she hadn’t mentioned, or else he was in the wrong apartment altogether. Nothing about this woman matched the high school girl in his memory—except for the mane of dark curls. Dark, wild, luscious curls that tumbled over her bare shoulders and that flimsy nothing of her tank top strap, which seemed to make her even more exposed than if she wasn’t wearing anything at all.
“You must be Jessie,” he finally said, barely able to get the words out.
She stared like it was taking her a minute to place him, too. He could feel her taking everything in—his bare chest, his boxers, the swirl of tattoos that ran around his left shoulder and tapered out across his pecs. She definitely wouldn’t have seen that ink before, or the three days of sandy stubble on his jaw. Or the pecs, for that matter—he’d been leaner, smaller, in his baseball-playing days.
But she blinked in recognition, and her eyes widened.
“It can’t be,” she said, still staring. Then she scrunched up her face like something smelled. “Shawn?”

Author Riley Cole is revealing the cover to DARING THE DETECTIVE, the third book in her adult historical romance series, Restitution League, releasing January 22, 2019. See below for the cover, information on the book and series, and preorder links.

Synopsis As the Sheriff of Malus, Texas, JW takes his oath to protect its citizens very seriously. Born from an ugly past, he swears no child, woman, or man will ever endure what he and his brothers have. As he seeks retribution of the ones who have wronged him, his past and his present finally collide. Secrets are laid open. Ones that are so heinous, they’ll rock the very foundation of JW’s life.
When Eden blazes into town, hot with her own threatening troubles baring down on her, JW steps in as her protector. It’s not only his duty, but a need he can’t ignore. The chemistry between the two is instant and all too tempting.
Giving in was easy, but the consequences were high.
Little does JW know, the disturbing destruction that would rain down on Malus by getting involved with the red-headed gypsy.
Danger lurks just around the corner–it’s dark, terrifying, and malicious.
JW is bitter because of his gruesome past. Eden is sweet despite hers. Together, will they create a beautiful future, or will it all end in bitter sweet hell?
Excerpt #2 “I wanna talk to you,” JW murmurs, interrupting my perusal of his family and friends.
Before I can answer, he’s tugging me away from the group and around the corner of Trouble’s office building. I open my mouth to ask what in the world he’s doing, but I’m stopped short when I’m pressed to the brick building and his lips are devouring mine.
All thought escapes me as he attacks my mouth, demanding entry with the rough swipe of his tongue. I open immediately, because I’m weak and have no chance, let alone no desire, to deny him. JW can be very persuasive, especially with his talented tongue.
His arms band around my waist, tugging my chest against his, at the same time my hands lace through his hair, yanking his head closer to me. The man is impossibly addicting. I love his taste, and I love the way he makes me feel. Like I’m the only person in the world. Like I’m special.
His groan is deep and growly when he pulls away and begins trailing his lips over my chin and down my neck. I tilt my head to the side to give him easier access to the tender spot he’s laving.
“You taste so fuckin’ good,” he whispers. “I could live forever just from the sweet taste of you.”
I breathe out a sigh of pleasure. “JW.”
His hand smoothly moves across my butt to the back of my thigh, where he pulls my skirt up to my knee, lifts my leg, and wraps it around his hip. Feeling the hard bulge behind the zipper of his jeans feels so good I shamelessly grind against it. All reason has fled my mind as soon as his lips touched mine again. There’s nothing and no one who can make me feel as good as JW.
“We gotta stop,” I whimper, both hoping he heeds my words and ignores them.
“In a minute,” he mutters, gently biting down on my collar bone.
I bite my lip to keep back the pleasurable cry wanting to slip free. His face moves to my cleavage, where he buries it between my boobs. I toss my head back against the brick wall and nearly come undone when his hips press harder against my center. I’d give almost anything to have him pull up my skirt, slip his cock free, and take us both to heaven as he plunges his hardness inside me.
He lifts his head from my boobs and lays a biting kiss against my lips. “Wanna know something?”
I open my eyes and regard his through a lust-filled gaze. “What?” I gasp.
“I almost killed Remi’s brother.”
The seriousness of his tone says he’s not joking.
“Why?” I ask through a dry throat.
“Because I had no clue who he was. He could have been one of Diego’s men and could have hurt you.”
This is something that crossed my mind as well. It could have been so easy for Kian to hurt me. Yes, he probably would’ve been caught with so many people around, but the damage would’ve already been done. Diego is just the kind of guy who would sacrifice one of his men to do his bidding.
“That wasn’t the only reason though.” He nips my lips once and pulls back, giving me his eyes. Ones that are grim and shining with intent. “He had his hand on you.”
“It was just a simple handshake,” I scoff.
“He had his hand on you and looked like he wanted to do a fuck of a lot more than shake your hand. No man touches what’s mine or looks at you the way he did.”
“I’m not yours,” I retort irritably.
“Like fuck, you aren’t. Every single Goddamn inch of you is mine. Deny it all you want, Gypsy. It won’t change that fact.”

Synopsis Making dreams come true is a red-hot challenge for two stubborn hearts risking it all on a second chance…
Hot-wired and restless, financial wizard Elliott Remington doesn’t turn down a dare. This time it’s to coordinate a service-dog boot camp for veterans at his family’s resort. Success means a one-way ticket to the West Coast to pursue his dream career. But it comes with a hitch: teaming up with his ex, who vanished on him ten years ago with nothing more than a kiss-off note.
As fiery as her hair and as stubborn as her name, Rebel Tate did what she had to do—for Elliott’s sake and her own. A dog whisperer with a keen sense of survival, she’s lived a tough life. Here she is, back in Angel Fire Falls, doing what she loves, next to a man she’s never forgotten. While the flame between them still smolders, neither is ready to get burned.
For Elliott, trusting Rebel is a gamble. For Rebel, sharing the secrets that sent her running is a risk. Now, while finishing a job that could define both their futures, two hearts are about to collide—and a second chance at true romance could be the greatest dare of all.
Excerpt Rebel let out a heavy sigh and straightened. She’d wondered how long it would take for shit to get real. Maybe there was a hashtag for that she could use. “Go ahead. Just say it.”
He gave her a look that said he had no idea what she was talking about. “Say what?”
She crossed her arms. “Whatever’s on your mind. Whatever makes you feel better, because there isn’t just an elephant in the room. There’s an entire herd of elephants, and judging from the sound of your grinding teeth, they’re about to stampede.” She cocked a hip and waited. Waited for the very thing she’d tried to avoid years ago. His disapproval. His disappointment.
Regret washed through her. Breaking up with him through a note had been cruel. But at the time, it was her only option. If she’d told him the truth about her circumstances, if she’d told him about the horrible secret she was keeping for her dying mother, she was pretty sure he would’ve given up his scholarship and come home to go to community college on the mainland just to be her support system.
That would’ve been the only thing worse than him hating her for leaving him without an explanation.
So it was time to face what she’d done, even if it meant hearing harsh words from the only man she’d ever loved.
Instead, he stewed in silence. She wasn’t sure which was more awful.
His jaw hardened, and his eyes turned icy.Yeah, the silence was much more awful.
“Go on.” She couldn’t stop her foot from tapping nervously against
the cement. “I’m a big girl. I can take it. I’ve been through much worse than a few scathing words from an ex-boyfriend.”
Rem moved to her side.
Elliott studied her, finally drawing in a deep breath. “It’s ancient history. Forget about it. I know I have.”
Oh.Her foot tapping stopped.“Let’s focus on the camp,” he said. “That’s all I care about. Then you and I can go back to our lives.”
She swallowed down the sting in her throat.
She thought he’d ask why, want answers, or just plain tell her off.
She’d been terribly wrong.More than answers, more than having his say, what he obviously needed was for them to go their separate ways. Again.
Something sharp pricked at her heart. GIRL WITH ALL THE PAIN (Aliens, Tequila & Us #3) by Michael Herman
Synopsis Sometimes an ugly duckling becomes more than just a swan.
In the streets of Santiago, Chile, a young homeless girl named Isabel screams a scream of rage that is the last sound the gang tormenting her ever hears.
Deep within the city, a family feels her cry and sets out to find her for their sake as well as hers.
Never straying far from Isabel, Skunk Mountain, a homeless pile of walking filth, visible to only the neighborhood kids, maintains a guardian presence that is key to her survival in a world where, beneath the very ground they walk, a dark ancient intelligent entity prepares to unleash forces that will devastate Chile.
Sometimes that swan has claws and teeth.
Excerpt When the woman strokes Isabel’s black fur, Isabel purrs loudly and makes clicking sounds. She knows she rests between friends who will not allow the ones below the base of the statue to harm her. The woman looks down at Isabel and says, “At long last, I have found you. You have not been forgotten. You and your people will return. We will end your long-suffering. You will no longer be alone.”
Isabel looks up at her with her black cat yellow eyes, and purrs. But below her feet, the ground trembles with the might of her enemy. The woman acknowledges the terrible presence beneath them and stoops to Isabel and says, “Only you can restore order. Only you can save them. Only you can end this. When your knowledge of yourself matures and you flower to your destiny, you will fulfill yourself and your time will be complete. We will join you and make it happen. Do you understand?”
Isabel snarls in response and lets out a mighty roar.
Then she is back on the daylight street holding hands with the mirror version of herself. She looks into the mirror self’s eyes and a shudder ripples through her body. The mirror version releases her hands, smiles, looks to Ángel and says, “All is well.”

Synopsis It’s 1997. Women stand beside men in combat and fly fighter jets. Pilot Tris Miles is not content with her job as a First Officer for tiny Clear Sky Airlines. She wants to be a Captain—the only way she knows to prove her worth as a pilot and atone for a deadly mistake.
To further her career, Tris accepts a prestigious job with Tetrix, Inc. But her dream of becoming pilot-in-command twists into a nightmare.
As the company’s first woman pilot, she encounters resistance, marginalization and harassment on a daily basis. Fortunately Tris has one thing her co-workers can’t deny—skill.
When Tris finds herself in a crippled airplane thousands of miles from home she must prove she can lead. With her career on the line, can Tris earn the respect she’s been craving? And if this is the end, can she find the strength to forgive herself?
Excerpt TRIS LOST ALL visibility as the airplane pierced a thick slab of fog. She slid her focus from the miasma outside the cockpit window to the flight instruments in front of her. They were her eyesight now. She trusted them. They told the truth.
She scanned the gauges and smiled. Tris heard their silent language; woman and machine entwined in the exceptional conversation of flight.
“Clear Sky Two-Five-One, cleared for the approach,” the Columbus, Ohio approach controller announced over a scratchy connection. Tris nodded to Captain Danny Terry, sitting two feet away in the left seat. His jaw clenched as he worked the radios on their last flight of the day.
“Gear down,” Tris commanded. The landing gear groaned and clicked as they lowered into position. Locked on final approach, the turboprop glided toward the runway, a concrete slab somewhere below them. Its twin engines spun in sync on the airplane’s wings. Tris monitored every bump and twitch of the plane. She answered each with a tap of the controls.
Tris nudged the yoke to bank the airplane left, the plastic coated steering column cool beneath her hands. She thought of all the ways pilots measure movement: degrees of heading, feet of altitude, ticks of the clock. Always counting up, down, until the next critical moment. As Clear Sky 251 slid toward the ground, Tris counted down.
Then she saw the flash. Just for a second, an amber warning light flickered.
“Danny, check the gauges. We had a caution.”
“Five hundred,” the airplane’s synthesized altitude alert announced. Tris checked the altimeter. So close to the ground and they still had zero visibility through the late-summer glare.
“I don’t know,” Danny said as he scanned the gauges. “Wait. It’s the oil pressure on number one. The needle’s going crazy. It could be nothing, just a blip.”
Or the number one engine could be about to fail.
“Ok.” She’d need full power on both engines to climb if they couldn’t land—and she might not have it.
“Nothing in sight.” Danny squirmed
forward in his seat to catch the first glimpse of runway lights. His breath grew more labored with every foot of altitude they lost. He wouldn’t see the runway until the very last second, if at all—right when Tris would decide to land the plane or thrust it back up into the soup.
“Roger.” Tris stayed focused and in control. As seconds passed, the plane slid lower, lower, in a stable descent. The only sounds were the whir of spinning dials, the click of needles, the white noise of flight. Tris eyed the altimeter, her hands soft but firm on the power levers.
Danny’s hand twitched behind hers; a backup. He strained to see the runway. Decision time loomed a few feet away.
The caution light blinked again. Tris had to keep her eyes on the navigation gauges. The closer the airplane got to the ground, the more sensitive those indicators became. If she strayed off course, even a little, she’d lose all guidance and have to climb, or else there was no telling where they’d hit the ground.
She felt Danny’s hands move closer to the controls, protecting them in case she faltered.
She didn’t. Tris saw the runway, dead ahead.
“I’ve got it,” Danny said quickly as he keyed the mike. “Columbus Tower, Clear Sky Two-Five-One, runway in sight.”
“Roger, Clear Sky Two-Five-One, Runway Two-Four, cleared to land, wind two-five-zero at three knots.”
“Landing,” Tris said. She looked outside, blinked to focus, and kept the plane moving straight along the runway centerline, edging toward the earth. The altimeter registered field elevation just as the plane’s rear wheels softly touched the ground.
