Synopsis
She thinks meeting him must’ve been fate. It wasn’t.

Claire, a pastry chef struggling to make her restaurant succeed, is too busy to pursue romance. That doesn’t stop her loving but meddling mother, Helen, from setting her up on dates. Even after Helen promises to stop her matchmaking efforts, she can’t help herself. She convinces Eric, a pediatrician, to meet Claire at a gallery event.

Eric and Claire feel an immediate connection, and their meeting becomes a magical first date. But the longer Eric and Claire see each other, the less comfortable Eric feels about hiding the fact that Claire’s mom set them up. Meanwhile, Claire loves to talk about how she trusts Eric, and how they met by chance. How will she react to the truth?

This witty, sweet romance includes a free Hallmark original recipe for Claire’s Coconut Lime Tarts.

Excerpt #3
The genteel gallery crowd wandered through the maze of stark-white walls viewing the artwork, their conversation muted and indiscern- ible. Claire didn’t have to hear their comments about the paintings. The only thing she cared about was whether they liked her desserts, and judging by the low inventory on every tray, they did.

The gallery director, a high-strung woman by the name of Brenda Chang, jetted over, her straight dark hair swinging wildly. She surveyed the table as if try- ing to gauge whether there were enough to last—and there were, thank you, because the caterer knew how to do her job—then nodded at Claire.

“I wish the event was as big a hit as your desserts. I’ll gain five pounds if I don’t watch myself,” Brenda said.

Claire smiled at the compliment. “Well, I’m glad you like them. I also have a restaurant downto—”

“Hold that thought.” Brenda darted after one of the patrons, an elderly lady encrusted with diamonds. Too bad Brenda hadn’t motioned the woman in this direction. Claire’s bakery could use a wealthy fan or two.

She glanced past Brenda, her gaze landing on the man behind her. A sudden jolt rocked her spine. The same jolt she’d gotten before, but this time she knew she recognized him.

Time slid to a stop, and the people, the artwork, the chatter, all of it, faded as he walked toward her, his gaze similarly fastened on her. There was practically music playing in her head. Okay, well, there really was music piping from the sound system, but somehow he made it a whole other kind of moment, one full of magic and fairytale glitter.

“Hi,” he murmured, and his voice… Oh, yes, his voice was amazing and deep and it thrilled through her, raising goosebumps in its wake.

“Hi.” How she got that out around the huge, sudden lump in her throat, she’d never know.

It’s the guy. The one from Crate and Barrel. And here he was in the flesh, talking to her and even better-looking in the low gallery light in a crisp suit that looked amazing on him. She might have to find a way to surreptitiously fan herself, because wow

“So, how’s your night going?” he asked.

“Good.” Fabulous, she wasn’t squeaking out her answers like a squirrel with stage fright. He held out a hand. “I’m Eric.” “Claire.” She shook his hand, and everything inside her collided in a mess of destiny, squishy-girl feelings that only happened when you met someone worth squish- ing over, and a giddy sense of wonder. Providence had finally smiled down on her. This was a moment she’d remember for a long time.

To wrap everything up in a big, solid bow, he seemed to have come to the fundraiser alone and didn’t seem to be in any hurry to go elsewhere.

“Are you an art aficionado?” he asked with a nod toward the wall behind that held a very ugly Robachaux painting from what appeared to be the artist’s messy finger-paint period, inexplicably titled “Eggplant with No Fur.”

“Do I lose points if I say the jury is still out?” Eric’s smile came slowly but it was worth it, like waiting for the sun to break out from behind the clouds. The intensity of it washed over her. She’d always been a rain girl—had to be, to live in this town—but all at once, she became a huge fan of Eric’s warm rays.

“Actually, I’ve been glancing around and I gotta say…” He leaned in, wafting her with a heavy dose of masculinity she couldn’t help but react to, and murmured, “You’re wise to withhold judgement until you’ve seen all of it. Want to walk around with me and let’s decide together?”

She couldn’t help it. She shivered. The good kind, the kind full of anticipation, like when you knew the wrapped box in front of you held the present you’d longed for, but you hadn’t opened it yet because want- ing it was too much fun.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t a guest. “I can’t. I’m the caterer, so I’m kind of stuck here. I can circulate with trays, but my time is limited.”

Which was exactly the way she wanted it. The tiny ping of disappointment had no place in the middle of a gig that had bought her and Marco a new oven.

His intense gaze never wavered from hers. “I’ll wait.”Really? Like, how long? Until the event was done? “That might be a while. At least until all of the des- serts are gone.”

“Well. That sounds like a challenge.”

Synopsis
When Ella Karman debuts on the Social Stock Exchange, she finds out life as a high profile “Influencer” isn’t what she expected. Everyone around her is consumed by their rankings, in creating the smoke and mirrors that make them the envy of the world.

But then Ella’s best friend betrays her, her rankings tank, and she loses—everything.

Leaving her old life behind, she joins Keystone, a secret school for thieves, where students are trained to seal everything analog and original because something—or someone—is changing history to suit their needs.

Partnered with the annoyingly hot—and utterly impossible—Garrett Alexander, who has plenty of his own secrets, Ella is forced to return to the Influencer world, while unraveling a conspiracy that began decades ago.

Playlist
Crawling out of the lake, I sprawl on the beach, sucking in precious air for as long as I dare. Still breathless, I limp into the woods. My temples throb and I long to return to the house and climb into bed, to huddle under the blankets until the shivering stops. Last chance to keep my old life. I could come out of this a survivor. My parents would be so proud… Once the story hit the Networks, my Influencer status would be reinstated—especially now that everyone who knew my family’s secret is…dead.

Isn’t that convenient?

I don’t dwell on who’s behind the explosion. Maybe part of me already knows the truth, but I’m not ready for it. Instead, the final fleeting glimpse I had of my best friend, Deena, her blond hair whipping across her face right before the blast, assaults me.

Doubling over, I swallow the sickness rising my throat, shutting my eyes against her. We weren’t speaking, but she didn’t deserve this. None of them did. Tears bubble down my cheeks. Dropping to my knees, I stare up at the starry sky, an irrevocable ache seeping through me. How can I be in this world without them? Wherever they are, can they see me? The universe is endless, and the stars shine down without even a wink.

A voice arrives on the breeze from the lake, its nearness sobering me. For the plan to work, the world needs to believe I’m dead. But if I stick to the plan I can never go back. That truth should terrify me, but I’m already overwhelmed. Besides, there’s nothing left to go back to. Not without Adam. He was the only one who made me feel like I mattered. Breathing deep, I heave myself to my feet and drag myself deeper into the woods. I have no home. I have to keep going.

The old me would have ordered a car to drive me from Lake Tahoe to the Sequoia National Forest, but the Disconnects offered me refuge on the condition I wouldn’t be tracked. Starting now, I’m invisible. They were supposed to send a guide, but he never showed up, and it’s pure luck I stumble upon the bikes, sneakers, and hooded sweatshirt hidden behind a tree. Taking it as a sign I’ve made the right decision, I yelp. Choking back the cry, I tug the sweatshirt over my dress with shaking hands. In the pocket I find a tube of glittery, gold paint and draw a haphazard zigzag over half my face to disguise my identity from facial-recognition cameras. The mark of a Disconnect.

Synopsis
A painfully awkward love story.

Incomprehensibly awkward Elizabeth Wilde is desperate for love. Connection. Intimacy. After a lifetime of romantic failures, the twenty-one-year-old gamer realizes she needs help. Professional help. She needs…

A sex tutor.

The devastatingly hot jock Austin Jacobs is just the man for the job. As the reigning campus sex god, he has the playboy act down pat. But underneath those six-pack abs beats a broken heart. He doesn’t trust people and he sure as hell doesn’t believe in love.

The odd couple strike a deal. Four weeks of ‘tutoring’ for five thousand dollars.

When Austin coaxes Elizabeth out from behind her computer screen, the attraction they feel is undeniable. They’re both a little broken, but somehow their jagged edges fit. And when their world comes tumbling down on top of them, they each have to decide if this weird thing called love is worth fighting for.

 —————————————————————————-

Excerpt #3
I roll my shoulders and take a few deep breaths as I stare at the door to Elizabeth’s apartment Tuesday night. It doesn’t stop my heart from racing. For the first time ever in my life I’m fucking nervous about a girl.

Man up, Jacobs.

I knock on her door. She seems surprised when she answers it.

“Hi,” she mutters, staring at me quizzically. I guess she was expecting me to saunter in again like I own the place.

I don’t own her and it’s important I remember that. No more playing boyfriend. Tonight I’m going to keep things flirty and casual.

“Hi,” I reply, waiting to be asked into the apartment. I let my eyes wander over her. She’s back in her baggy jeans, but she isn’t wearing the standard loose T-shirt. She’s in a tight tank top that’d give even Stevie Wonder a chance to admire how well-endowed she is.

The lettering stretched across her chest reads, “Sorry I’m late. I didn’t want to come.” That sounds like Elizabeth. It’s adorable and sexy all in one. The thirteen-year-old in me wants to bury my face in her tits, motorboating until I can’t breathe. The twenty-one-year-old in me wants to make sure she comes. All. Night. Long.

“Hi,” she says again, biting her lip with a coy smile. This girl is casually delectable.

“You said that already,” I simper. “Can I come in? Or did you add voyeurism to our sex-abus?”

She gives me a light gasp and an incredulous look before grabbing my shirt and pulling me into the apartment. She closes the door, crosses her arms, and glares at me. I can’t help but chuckle. She’s beautiful when she’s pissed.

About the Author
Amelia Kingston is many things, the most interesting of which are probably California girl, writer, traveler, and dog mom. She survives on chocolate, coffee, wine, and sarcasm. Not necessarily in that order.

She’s been blessed with a patient husband who’s embraced her nomad ways and traveled with her to over 30 countries across 5 continents (I’m coming for you next, Antarctica!). She’s also been cursed with an impatient (although admittedly adorable) terrier who pouts when her dinner is 5 minutes late.

She writes about strong, stubborn, flawed women and the men who can’t help but love them. Her irreverent books aim to be silly and fun with the occasional storm cloud to remind us to appreciate the sunny days. As a hopeless romantic, her favorite stories are the ones that remind us all that while love is rarely perfect, it’s always worth chasing.

I change the subject, asking, “What’s your major?”

“Pre-med.” Her eyes practically sparkle with her response.

“You want to be a doctor?” I can’t keep the surprise out of my voice, unable to picture her bedside manner.

“Technically, I guess. But I am really looking at going into medical research.” She answers my question without me having to ask it.

“Why medical research?”

She balks at the question, picking imaginary lint off her T-shirt instead of answering me. I sit quietly and stare at her until she finally answers with, “I’ve just always thought biology was interesting.” I give her a go-on gesture and she meekly continues. “Humans are basically insanely complex machines that took hundreds of thousands of years of evolution to create. We’re just starting to understand that even though we are these complicated and sophisticated organisms, we’re all still so fragile and flawed.” She stares as her hands in her lap, embarrassed by her own enthusiasm.

“That’s almost poetic.”

She shifts in her seat and says, “It’s really lame, I know. I’m such a nerd, right?

“Don’t do that.” Her eyes snap to mine at the reprimand. “Don’t belittle yourself or what you care about. The world is going to beat you down enough, you don’t need to help it out. If you believe something, own it. Fuck everybody else.” She blinks several times, like she’s holding back tears, gazing at me like I saved a litter of puppies from a burning building. Now it’s my turn to shift awkwardly in my seat. I’m no one’s hero. I change the subject, “I just want to make money. Lots of it.”

“There’s a lot more to life than money.”

“Spoken like someone who has a lot of it,” I scoff. “Exactly how rich are you, anyway?”

“I’m not rich.” She sounds almost offended. “I mean, my father has money, but—”

I interrupt her. “Same difference. You have lots of brothers and sisters?”

“No. It’s just me.” Her face goes squishy, eyebrows pinched together, lips scrunched to one side. Her eyes dart up and left, like she’s trying to see inside her own mind. She’s working out what I’m getting at. It’s hideously captivating.

“You’re the only child of a rich man. I bet if you decided tomorrow you never wanted to work another day in your life you wouldn’t have to.” She seems lost in thought. I can’t help but wonder if she’s actually adding up her net worth in her head.

“It never occurred to me not to work. That’s just what people do. But I guess you’re right. If I didn’t want to, I wouldn’t have to work.” She isn’t bragging. If anything, she seems a bit self-conscious about being wealthy, like she thinks it will make me see her differently. I’m surprised by her honesty.

“Yep, hate to break it to you, sweetheart. But you’re rich,” I confirm with a laugh.

“I’ve never really thought about it,” she says softly, almost to herself. It sounds like it’s a revelation to her.

She’s so naïve. She’s never really experienced life, the good or the bad. She lives a sheltered beige existence, never knowing the brilliant shine of intense pleasure or the dark grunge of true suffering. She’s only tasted a fraction of what the world has to offer. Her unassuming innocence is intriguing.

“About money? People who have lots of it rarely do.” I don’t mean it to be an accusation, but that’s how she takes it.

“It’s not like I’m taking my private jet to our family’s island in the Bahamas.” Her definition of being rich is enough to make me laugh. She’s rich because she’ll never have to work to eat.

“Maybe not. But you had five thousand dollars you seemed to be able to part with quite easily.” It comes out harsher than I meant it to be. I’m frustrated she doesn’t understand what it’s like for people with nothing.

People like me.

Synopsis
Their prom night ended in a jail cell with forty of their closest friends. But that’s hardly the worst thing that happened to them…

When the principal announces prom is canceled this year, senior Riley Hart is determined to save it. Armed with little more than her own enthusiasm, she ends up working closely with Owen Locklear, who is more than completely off-limits. Because he’s the boyfriend of her ex-BFF, Catherine Reed. Still, Owen knows Riley better than almost anyone, and his charming ideas for turning the prom upside-down and backward win Riley over.

Catherine is willing to join Owen and Riley on the prom committee, but only because her legacy as prom queen is at stake. She’s already suffocating under the weight of her parents’ expectations for after senior year, and compared to that, ensuring prom happens should be easy. At least until everything starts to go wrong.

First they lose their deposit. Then they book a band full of octogenarians. And lose their venue… Twice.

Riley will have an unforgettable teenage experience, damn it, if it’s the last thing she does…

Excerpt
RILEY – TWO MONTHS UNTIL PROM

I turn the corner and glance over my shoulder, hoping to catch another glimpse of Owen’s familiar dark brown hair poking above the crowd. When I recognize his spiky-messy style, my breath catches in my chest. With a wave to Catherine, he breaks away and trails behind me, leaving half a hallway between us. I veer off into an empty stairwell and wait.

Eventually, he makes his appearance, towering over me in the cramped space. Although he’s not as big as the basketball players, Owen stands at least six inches taller than me, which means I’m always looking up at him when we cross paths in school. We met during recess on the first day of kindergarten, when we decided to join up with Catherine and fight the imaginary monsters hiding under the playground equipment. Years later, Catherine has found other things to do with her free time, but Owen and I still fight monsters together—virtual ones, in our favorite video game.

“Haven’t caught up with you on Q-Chat lately,” he says, breaking into his familiar wide smile, one that could take down the entire cheerleading squad. Though it’s a struggle, I manage to remain upright. But just barely.

“Sorry, but I’ve been busy.” I speak too fast and nearly drop the bag of tech club pamphlets I printed last night. Talking to Owen in real life always seems to throw me off. It’s much easier to pretend I don’t have a crush on him when we’re battling aliens online.

Faking disappointment, he shakes his head. “Priorities, Riley. Immortal Quest released an update yesterday with an all-new army of zombies. They suck your life force away, and I really need your shields for protection.” His blue eyes brighten as he steps closer. “C’mon, Evil Skater Girl.”

I raise my finger to my lips. “Shhh! We promised never to call each other by our Quest names in school!” No one needs to know about my secret virtual superhero persona. At eighteen, I’m practically a grandma in the Immortal Quest world.

“Yeah, you’re right.” He backs away, darting his eyes toward the hallway, probably checking for his girlfriend. “Just…log on once in a while, okay? Keep me company.”

“Doesn’t Catherine do enough of that?” The words rush from my mouth before I think about them. I really don’t want to know what he and Catherine do when they’re alone together, but for some reason I can’t resist bringing her up, if only to remind myself that he’s in love with the girl who tossed me aside without a second thought way back in middle school.

Owen flashes his smile again. “No one does it like you, ESG.” He hikes his backpack higher on his shoulder and turns to go. Before I call him out on the name thing again, he says, “By the way, did you hear anything about prom being canceled?”

“What? Is that even possible?”

He breaks out in a small smile. “According to Cat, it is.” His smile falters before he picks it back up. “So, you haven’t heard anything?”

“No, but if I do, I’ll let you know.”

With a wave, he ducks around the corner and out of sight. I count to ten before continuing on to my locker.

Synopsis
“All magic is beautiful,” she said, “and terrible. Do you not see the beauty in yours, or the terror in mine? You can stop a heart, and I can stop your breath.”

She is heir to a Sultanate that once ruled the world. He is an unwanted prince with the power to destroy.

She is order and intellect, a woman fit to rule in a man’s place. He is chaos and violence and will stop at nothing to protect his people.

His magic answers hers with shadow for light. They need each other, but the cost of balance may be too high a price. Magic is dying and the only way to save it is to enlist mages who wield the forbidden power of death, mages cast out centuries ago in a brutal and bloody war.

Now, a new war is coming. Science and machines to replace magic and old religion.

They must find a way to save their people from annihilation and balance the sacred Wheel—but first, they will have to balance their own forbidden passion. His peace for her tempest, his restlessness for her calm…

Makram reacted to her touch by not reacting at all. His body remained tense, his eyes narrowed. Naime wondered if she’d offended him, and pulled her hand back, but he spun, catching her wrist.

He held her hand up between them. “I am accustomed to being left to my own devices. We will both need to adjust to this, yes? To being allies?”

Naime nodded. His thumb circled lightly against her palm. Some of the simple easiness of his presence in her space left. Expectant tension made her hyperaware of how their spaces interconnected, where their skin met, the roughness of his calloused thumb against skin that was tender and sensitive, how much distance there was between every part of her and every part of him. There was a pull she had not perceived before, as if the most natural thing in the world would be to step closer.

“There is one thing.” His voice took on the same purr it had earlier. Naime felt too vulnerable without the shield of irritation she had kept between them. Without something to focus on that took her mind from the fact he was attractive, that when given the opportunity, he was kind and playful.

“What?” Naime was appalled at the weakness of her own voice.

“When this is over, I would like to call you by name.”

“That doesn’t seem like a very good idea.”

“No, I don’t think it is.”

But she wanted that, to hear him say her name, like they were friends. She had so few. In his eyes, void and oblivion leached outward in inky tendrils from his pupils. There was so much she wanted to know about him. About his magic. About Sarkum.

“If you win, I will agree. But also…you will tell me everything I want to know about your magic.” She twisted her hand gently free of his grip and reached for his cheek, fascinated by the manifestation of his power. She stopped before she touched him, the spell broken by the suspicion that passed over his face.

“No, your name is in exchange for me winning. If you want to know about my magic, then you have to offer something of equal value.” He turned his face a fraction, as if he meant to move it against her outstretched fingers, but did not.

“I am trusting you with all my dreams for the future. You don’t think you can trust me with this?”

“Is your name worth that much?” he asked as she lowered her hand to her side.

“Only you can decide that.” She curled her hands in her caftan to prevent herself reaching for him again.

“Well, I will have plenty of time to consider it as I prepare for this. Which reminds me that I need something else.” He scooped a handful of almonds from a plate and shook them in his fist.

Naime raised her eyebrows in question. “It is yours, for your magic.”

He grinned, and tipped his head in agreement. “Rope.” He tossed a few of the almonds into his mouth. “And grappling hooks.”

Synopsis
Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse
Because Daddy set out traps to catch those f^@kers
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that grenades would soon be in there
The children were nestled, all snug in their beds
While visions of weapons danced in their heads
And Mama in her nightie and I in my boxers
Had just settled down for a fun night together
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my bed to grab my Sig Sauer
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Covered my junk and threw Mama her pants…

“What’s the plan?” Ice asked.

“That’s up to Chance,” I replied. “You plan to get married out of town, where we don’t have every available resource. But I won’t tell you that we can’t do it. Inevitably, it’s up to you.”

“That’s insane,” Alec spat. “We know this guy is coming for us and we’re going to leave ourselves in the open?”

“Or we use it as an opportunity to draw him out,” Chris suggested.

“You want to start a battle at my wedding?” Chance asked.

“Maybe we should-”

“I like it,” Chance grinned. “I mean, if you tell Morgan I said that, I’ll deny the hell out of it. But that sounds like a very…eventful wedding.”

“You can’t be serious,” I said in shock.

“Why not?” Chance shrugged with a little grin. “I mean, Coop’s been in hiding for how long now? I’m sure Cazzo’s ready to put his father-in-law in the ground, and it gives all of us a chance to have a little fun.”

“Hell yeah,” Cazzo grunted.

“You guys are certifiable,” I said in exasperation. “Do you have any idea what kind of planning is required to pull that off?”

“Cap,” Derek grinned, “isn’t that what we’re trained to do?”

“Well, yeah, but this is at someone’s wedding. Our wives will be there. Some of them are pregnant. Do you really want to put them in that kind of danger? Not to mention our kids!”

“The pregnant ladies have to stay behind,” Sinner said.

“Right, I’ll let you tell Maggie that.”

“Maggie’s pregnant?” The shock in his voice matched the paleness of his skin. “Shit, Cap. Why can’t you just keep it in your pants for five f^@king minutes?”

About the Author
I’m a stay at home mom that loves to read. Some of my favorite titles are Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Horatio Hornblower. I started writing when I was trying to come up with suggestions on ways I could help bring in some extra money. I came up with the idea that I could donate plasma because you could earn an extra $500/month. My husband responded with, “No. Find something else. Write a blog. Write a book.” I didn’t think I had anything to share on blog that a thousand other mothers hadn’t already thought of. I decided to take his challenge seriously and sat down to write my first book, Jack. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed writing. From there, the stories continued to flow and I haven’t been able to stop. I hope my readers enjoy my books as much as I enjoy writing them. Between reading, writing, and taking care of three small kids, my days are quite full.

Synopsis
The last thing that sixteen-year-old Petter expects while sitting on an airplane is an email from his father. Especially since his dad died of cancer five weeks earlier.

As if that emotional rollercoaster wasn’t enough, Petter’s mother thinks it’s a good idea to move them across the world from Norway to her childhood home outside of Boston.

Using emails sent from beyond the grave, Petter’s father tries to remain a source of guidance and life lessons for his son. Hidden among these teachings are also clues leading Petter out on an adventure. The last one that he would ever have with his father.

Then Petter meets Max. She joins him on his quest and becomes a bright spark of color in a world that moments before seemed very grey.

IF YOU’RE READING THIS…, a contemporary YA novel is complete at 85,000 words, and may appeal to fans of John Green.

Excerpt #2
“It’s ALIVE! You awake Norseman?” her text said.

He wrote back, “You do realize that it’s afternoon?”

“Details, details. Yesterday I was an early bird. Today, I prefer to be an owl. Who wants that stupid worm anyways. Early birds can have it!”

“Agreed. Unless they are gummy worms, in which case it pays to be the early bird.”

“True! Wise words indeed. How was your day?”

“Ever have a dream that left you short of breath and drenched in sweat? Well, that’s how my day started out. Short of that, helped Otto move some books, and he actually gave me a book my father gave him. I am still amazed that he did that. Oh yeah, and I got a spam email from my father. Just hope nothing is wrong with his email account.”

“Wow. All that before noon. Let’s get back to the dream in a minute. Forward the email. Let’s make sure that there wasn’t anything fishy about it.”

Petter sent the email to her and lay down on the bed on his side. Someone should really make a keyboard that makes for comfortable in bed use, he thought.

“So, the book,” Max started. “What was it?”

“It’s a translation to English of Meditations, by Marcus Aurelius, the Roman emperor,” he wrote back.

Petter stretched out on the bed as his screen showed Max typing back. He was stiff from lifting those books up and down the ladder. It had been a while since he worked out. Ever since his dad got sick.

The typing paused and was all of a sudden replaced by a request for a Hangouts video call. Before thinking, Petter had accepted. In front of him, Max with a morning face was scrambling in front of her laptop, furiously typing something.

“Max? You okay?” Petter asked. He had to keep himself from laughing. Her serious face combined with the crazy hair was just too much.

She finally realized that he had accepted and looked up into the camera, seeing from the mirth on his face that she wasn’t really presentable. In a split second, she seemed to go from wondering if she should care to deciding that it wasn’t important.

“Petter. Petter with t’s and lots of r’s. Your dad’s email. It’s not gibberish. Not even spam. It’s a puzzle! A puzzle, my Dear Watson. Your father was a tricky trickster! The email is encoded.”

Synopsis
When a former ugly duckling and the former class heart-throb come together as adults, they find out they have more in common than they realized.

Glenda Shaw knows firsthand what it’s like to be an ugly duckling, and now, she is roped into helping to organize her tenth-year class reunion. The speaker this year is none other than Hunter Teegs, the object of her dreams since their sophomore year in high school. She’s a dedicated social worker with a heart the size of Texas, but her hectic schedule doesn’t allow much time for dating or entertainment.

Hunter Teegs is a self-made financial powerhouse with a boatload of charisma and a winning sense of humor. He’s also a notorious womanizer and heartbreaker. He has no interest in settling down any time soon, if ever. To make matters worse, he has recently noticed details from his childhood that cause him to question everyone and everything he’s come to believe.

When Glenda and Hunter are brought together again, fireworks nearly knock both of them off their feet, and not necessarily in a good way. Glenda knows more than one secret about Hunter, and sharing the most crucial one could mean the end of their relationship before it even gets started.

 —————————————————————————-

SECRET ADMIRER'S CHRISTMAS WISH

 —————————————————————————-

Excerpt #2
Glenda felt the heat from Hunter’s hand on her lower back. The way he’d looked at her! It astounded her. Yes, she had grown up, but she’d never met anyone recently who’d known her back then. Hunter hadn’t really known her either, he’d just looked at her…once.

His small speech about how this would be good for her? She never looked at it like that before. All she had thought was how humiliating it might be. His reaction swayed her. Maybe.

If he, the most popular guy in school, thought she wouldn’t be humiliated, then maybe she should give it a chance. She did need to get over her stigma, leave the past in the past. After all, that was all she had been doing these last ten years – leaving her geek past behind her. Maybe Hunter was right. Face these people head on and look them right in the eye, show them what she was really made of. Not run away like the shy girl she had been back then.

They went in and walked down the halls while Glenda tried to steady her heartbeat, keep her mind focused on the task at hand instead of getting lost in the myriad of physical and emotional responses just being close to Hunter evoked. Even after ten years, not much had changed, and that not only included the appearance of the school, but her feelings for Hunter. The realization made her uneasy, to say the least, and her back radiated heat where he touched her.

The halls were still lined with Scholar’s Bowl trophies and tributes to former students, and to her surprise, her name was among them.

CLOUDSTORM Teaser

 —————————————————————————-

Excerpt
I’ve just returned from my morning walk as I enter the community gardens, feeling really good, when I see my nemesis coming from the other side of the green space. He arrives sweaty, wearing sportswear.

For the first time in my life I’ll admit I sincerely thank Roselynn for giving me what I’m wearing right now. Black calf length leggings. My sports bra is electric blue, short and quite low cut, which means I have some great cleavage on show which boosts my confidence.

What? I have a great rack, and I’m not shy to showcase it.

I admit that dressing well gives a certain sexy halo and I plan to take advantage of it.

I see his green eyes looking me up and down, just the way I wanted him to, although he tries to hide it behind that frown and that shield of arrogance that surrounds him.

Without the slightest hint of shame, I return the look. I eat him with my eyes, ogling him with no shame. He wears a white muscle shirt and basketball shorts, completely different than the previous times I’ve seen him.

He looks more accessible, more human. The muscles of his arms are perfectly delineated under his tanned skin, he could trace them with a pencil and the result would be more perfect than Michelangelo’s famous white marble sculpture of David.

What’s worse is this version of him is real, flesh and blood.

His mouth is puckered and I’m not sure if he’s going to talk, make a face or if he wants me to approach him and take him by storm.

Somebody call the doctor and take me to the asylum!

Please.

The temptation is too great, I must restrain myself. In no way do my plans include getting tangled up with Lancelot Hills.

“What are you doing here, Miss Wilkinson?” he says. “Did you find out where I live and decided to follow me?”

Warm up engines! My heart pumps faster, the blood becomes a lava river that rises and rises in temperature.

Control, Ariel. It’s the angry one that loses.

“If you recall, I told you I lived here,” I answer, doing my best to sound casual. “Another thing you decided not to believe.”

“So, it’s just a happy coincidence, is it?”

His sarcasm just makes this easier for me. If he wants to start a verbal war, I’m not going to be intimidated by the first salvo.

“This is no coincidence. When you decided to buy that house, you knew that my home was here. If anyone is doing the harassing, it’s you.”

Lancelot stretches his arm as if to grab mine, but I’m faster. I turn with a swish of my ponytail, making my way to my apartment, leaving him standing there, digesting the information he just received.

I won the first round.

How fucking good it feels to have the last word!

Synopsis
Piper

Most people don’t think about the day they’ll die. They coast through life, blissfully unaware of how their time is ticking away. I wasn’t like most people. I welcomed death, wanted her to take me away from the prison I called life, but she refused. I tried twice only to survive. And then, when I thought I had nothing left it came.

A reason to live.

Rex was a small, unexpected ray of light my world of darkness that blossomed into a beam of sunshine. I thought, maybe this was why Death didn’t take me. Maybe she knew that if I held on a little longer things would turn around. But the third time Death came to my door wasn’t by choice. Someone else brought her, and I fear this time she might take me.

Rex

Being the son of a country star sucks. My parents are never around, I move every year or so, and I have no real friends. Everyone around me has an agenda. Everyone except Piper Lovelace. I can’t get that girl to notice me. Trust me I’ve tried.
Thankfully, fate stepped in and gave me the break I needed. I’ve got her attention, now I need her to give me a chance.

WARNING: Spoilers for book 1!
I enjoyed this book more than the first one. The angsty romance tugged at my heart, but what really grabbed me was Zera’s growth. Sure, she continued to struggle with trust, and there were times I was frustrated with her backsliding, but she was still in a two steps forward one step back mode, making steady, albeit slow progress. Having accidentally said the name of her witch at the end of the first book, Princess Varia has become Zera’s new witch and has a new goal for her if Zera wants her heart back. A task that seems nearly impossible — she must teach the valkerax below the city to weep, the way she did. A beast so huge, dangerous, and angrily delusional, she can barely understand it, much less teach it anything. But she will do anything to get her heart back, even die over and over again.

Lucien hates her, Fione is terrified of her, and the only people she considers family are in the wind. Zera has no choice but to do Varia’s bidding. She’s singly-focused on her task, but as she so often laments, her unheart betrays her with feelings for Lucien. The thing is, as much as he wants her to believe otherwise, it’s so clear he still has feelings for her, too. There doesn’t seem to be any happy endings for this pair, but finding out what happens to them kept me turning the pages.

Plot
Similar to book one, the plot revolves around Zera completing the necessary task to get her heart back. What’s different this time is who has her heart, the task she’s been ordered to complete, and the reasons behind it. Varia believes if she gets what she wants, she’ll be able to stop the impending war. While similar to her original goals, this one comes with a lot of caveats and new dangers. Numerous subplots are expertly woven throughout, and we learn more about the world that the characters inhabit. Just as vivid as the first book, FIND ME THEIR BONES builds upon what we already know, bringing new scenes to life and divulging new secrets that underpin the world Sara Wolf has crafted.

Characters
I love everyone’s growth in this installment. Zera’s feels the most drastic, but Lucien, Malachite, and even Fione have significant growth as the come to terms with Zera’s heartlessness. Varia on the other hand seems to devolve through the book, becoming less stable and more maniacal as things come to a head at the end. But with all of Sara Wolf’s books, the characters are just as fascinating, developed, and enduring as ever.

What I Loved About FIND ME THEIR BONES
1. Zera.
She really grew on me more throughout this book. I liked her in the first book, but by the middle of this one, I LOVED her. She’s determined, loyal, and strong, without ever losing her snarky streak.

2. Valkerax. The giant, white, feathery, scaly wyrm with six eyes won my heart with its overwhelming pain and longing to be free.

3. Lucien. The prince with a heart of gold is just as swoony as ever, but he’s a little extra so this time around.

4.Princess Varia. She’s both an antagonist and a protagonist, in a sense. While it’s Zera’s story, Varia has her own arc and the book wouldn’t be as amazing without her. But her wounds and desires and driving need to prevent war makes her someone to root for.

5. World Building. The author continues to unveil a fantastic fantasy world with rich details and stunning cinematography in written form.

Bottom Line
Teenage angst, a gripping adventure, and phenomenal world building collide with epic results.

Synopsis
Someone’s killing fairies …

Jezzie wasn’t thrilled with her brother’s idea of entering a scavenger hunt sponsored by humans. It wasn’t as though winning was going to be difficult. After all, sneaking around and stealing from humans was one of the things fairies did best.

Getting around the disapproving Fairy Elders, however, would require a bit more creativity.

What’s life without a challenge?

Mitch Harlow is a human, and he’s considering buying Otherworld Entertainment. Ever since the portal to the Otherworld collapsed and infused their world with magical creatures, the humans had been clamoring to learn more about their newest visitors—especially the elusive and secretive fairies. Their newest scavenger hunt show is a hot commodity, and Mitch is eager to get his hands on it—and on the feisty fairy who’s intent on causing trouble.

When Jezzie’s brother mysteriously goes missing and the contest sponsors refuse to release her from her contract, Jezzie’s determined to make them regret their decision—even if it costs her everything.

Unfortunately, Jezzie’s brother isn’t the first fairy to disappear.

Someone’s hunting fairies, and it looks like Jezzie’s next.

Excerpt #2
The sun was dipping low behind the clouds on my journey back home. I knew Mother would need me back at the shop—she fussed if I took too long at the market, claiming the streets were a dangerous place for young girls. Thankfully, I knew of a shortcut nearby that I took occasionally. It was a little dark down the pathway, cloaked in shadows from the buildings surrounding, but that didn’t scare me.

I should have known better, but I had never run into trouble, so I continued on without hesitation.

Something hit my foot and I flew forward, crashing into the stone floor. My coin purse flew from my hands, landing in front of me. My hands stung with dull pain as I caught myself on the cobblestone.

“Well, well, what have we here?” a sneer echoed above me, and I realized I had been tripped.

This was a trap.

I was quick to roll over and face my attackers. They surrounded me, three older men with faces filled with greed.

“What’s in the bag, pretty girl?” one of the grubby men asked, drawing a knife from the waistband of his pants.. My breath caught in my throat and I edged my hand backwards, wrapping my fingers tightly around my coin purse. If I lost it and disappointed my mother again, she would kill me. I could suddenly understand Julian’s frustration yesterday at the prospect of losing any coin, and my chest constricted.

My mother cared more about me being better, doing better, than my actual wellbeing. Losing coin would be such as disgrace and burden her for months.

“Cat got your tongue?” another asked slyly, a hint of amusement evident in his voice. I narrowed my eyes.

And then I felt it—a familiar rush: a pulse of energy, flooding through my veins to my fingertips. I knew suddenly that I was going to be just fine.

“Leave me be,” I said simply.

They didn’t know yet, but I had the advantage. The men ignored me, seeing me only as foolish prey. But they were foolish, to bet their lives against a stranger and harass an innocent, hard working girl. They were fools to assume that I was unarmed.

“Does the coin you carry have more value than your life, girl?” another man threatened.

“I said, leave me be you thieving scum,” I snapped. Their eyes darkened and their fists clenched. I got to my feet, standing my ground. They closed in, ready to strike as one lifted a knife.

I smirked at their ignorance.

Lifting my own hand, I created a scorching orange flame with nothing more than the oxygen in the air. They watched me, jaws dropping, as I hurtled a fireball at them. It caught one of them square in the chest, lighting up his shirt. He shrieked, ripping the shirt off to stamp the fire out. It sizzled into a charred mess on the ground, but the burns it inflicted were still visible, red and swollen on his skin.

The other two watched in confusion and fear, frozen and unable to process what they were witnessing. The man continued to wail in pain, but his screams seemed to fall on deaf ears.

For good measure, I let another flame lick its way across the other two men, inflicting burns along their forearms as they leapt to shield themselves helplessly. They all screamed as my fire left angry red welts along their skin.

We were currently alone in the little alleyway, but we wouldn’t be for long if they kept up their shouting.

“Quiet!” I snarled, grabbing the first man’s arm and bringing his face inches from mine. He stopped yelling, his eyes widening in fear. The injured man now trembled in fear, half naked and as helpless as he assumed me to be only moments ago.

“You three will leave me. You will not breathe a word of this to anyone, or I will personally hunt you down and remove your tongues so you cannot speak ever again. Understand?”

All three men nodded, and I gestured for them to move along. As they scurried away, I exhaled deeply, slumping against the wall. I scanned the streets on either side of me, making sure no one else had seen what had just happened. I didn’t spot anyone, and decided I was safe again. Straightening my clothes, I briskly exited the alleyway.

I could not risk anyone finding out about me—about what I could do.

I did not like to use my powers unless it was absolutely necessary. I didn’t understand why I had them, and if my mother found out she would certainly panic—and with good reason. Only royals should have magical powers, so why a normal human from a lowly village would possess any is

beyond me. If anybody found out—if the royals found out—I don’t know what would happen to me.

I imagined it could not be anything good.

Excerpt #2
There he stood in a Santa hat and snug boxer briefs with … were those dinosaurs?

She blinked, covered her mouth, and giggled. “Nice underwear.”

“Gift from my gran. Now, you.”

That wasn’t how this was going to work. She pushed off from the counter, where she’d had to lean to catch her breath and save herself from melted-knee  syndrome, and moved in close. Her hand strayed to his chest, brushed across one copper-pennied nipple.

“I’m not an exhibitionist like you.”

He shrugged. “I’m not ashamed. You got it, you flaunt it.”

Easy for him to say. She was no prude, but she wasn’t able to compete with the level she saw before her. Nothing sculpted or honed about her body. She’d kept fit in the military but hadn’t been maintaining her regimen as diligently since leaving. Stripping in the unflattering light of Levi Hunt’s kitchen was not on the menu.

He seemed to sense her confusion. He placed a hand on her hip, the other at the nape of her neck.

“You okay?”

“I’m not sure.”

“We don’t have to do this.”

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to. It would be wonderful, she was sure of it. A clearing of the pipes. A beautiful male body used as the gods intended. But that was it: she would be using him—and she’d been making a concerted effort not to do that to people. She came from a long line of takers, and while she had no doubt this would be a mutual exchange of pleasure and bodily fluids, she still felt weird about it.

“You’d be okay with me changing my mind?”

“This is your show, Ellie.” But even as he said it, his cock twitched. She felt its sad poke against her stomach. Not a happy penis.

She looked down at it. Covered by the head of a cartoon T-rex, it was still impressive.

“Sorry,” she whispered.

Theo laughed, the sound slightly pained. “Yeah, you should definitely apologize to my dick. The big guy’s never gonna forgive us for getting him all worked up.” He kissed her softly, which was much more than she deserved for being such a tease. “Not a big deal. You want me out of your hair?” He tangled a finger in one of her errant curls.

“Don’t you have to head home?”

“Not for a while yet. But if you want to be alone, I can make that happen.” He waggled both eyebrows. “Or I could make Christmas lunch.”

“We just had breakfast.”

He waved it off. “Merely the appetizer.”

“You mean you’d actually cook for me after I led you to the brink—”

“Hardly the brink.”

“And made your dick cranky.”

With his hands still cradling her hips, he held her back a few inches and peered down at his groin. “You cranky, bud?”

“Oh, God.” That was Elle, not Theo’s penis, speaking.

He continued conversing with his chatty dick. “A little? Don’t worry, we’ll have some alone time later. A few happy, holiday tugs and you won’t even remember the mean lady who looked a hung-like-a-gift horse in the mouth.” All smiles, he met her astonished gaze once more. “We’re good.”

Were they?  Was she crazy to turn down an offer like this? Her ovaries certainly thought so.

She stepped back, struck by the notion that leaving his arms was a mistake. That she might like to stay wrapped in them for a while longer and that she’d missed out on not just great sex, but self-care with a wonderful guy.

He’s not for you, Eloise.

Synopsis
Not even Nashville’s summer heat can match the sizzle of first love.

Nick Field’s motto is “live free.” The huge promotion at work is great, but producing a pop star’s debut album isn’t going to change his life or anything. There’s always room for unwinding and having fun.

Mel Thomas works 24/7 as the media manager to America’s newest heartthrob. Building his image and writing her career make-or-break article are the stories of the summer. There’s no room to go off script.

Ten years ago, Nick and Mel were high school sweethearts. Reunited by chance, what should’ve been ancient history reignites into a passionate present. Too bad there’s no future in it.

Excerpt #2
Melody

“Go into the studio; mics are on.”

I stashed the phone. “What makes you think I want to sing?”

“Just a guess.”

Nick’s sly smile ended my resistance quick. I heaved a dramatic sigh, stomped across the room to lean over him and type, and then yanked open the studio door. “I can’t believe I’m doing this.”

He laughed. “Yeah, you can. Go for it.”

Magical energy struck me again as soon as I walked in. The walls practically hummed with the music they’d soaked in over the years. Memories and unlimited potential crackled in the air like ions. With few inhales, the magic was in my bloodstream.

I was no musical prodigy, though, just a girl whose mother taught choir when she was a kid. Instead of tapping talent and creativity, Studio A turned my brain waves from an organized map into doodles and swirls.

I released a shaky breath and walked to the front microphone. Music filled the room. The opening line of “Son of a Preacher Man” trembled out of my mouth, but my voice grew stronger the more I sang. Hands on my head, I swished my hips to the beat and almost kissed the microphone as I belted the lyrics to the very last note.

The song faded away. In the silence, I opened my eyes and dared to look through the window. Nick was reclining in his chair, but he leaned forward and spoke into the com. “That was perfect. What next, Melody?”

I stood behind the mic and watched him watch me. I thought about how my stomach jumped every day when he appeared in the lounge, and how I pretended not to care.

I thought of his kiss.

To be fair, I’d thought about it nonstop since it happened, but when Nick tilted his head at my silent reverie, I really thought about it. Then, I stopped thinking.

“Um, I want…” I whispered with a thick swallow. My hand floated to my skirt, dragging the hem up my thigh with a tickling touch.

Am I really doing this?

About the Author
Skye spent a lot of her adolescence dreaming about living in a hip, urban town full of adventures that occurred outside of the local mall. (Hers was Rivergate, in case you know Nashville well!) Now that she’s been living away from Nashville for years, the once sleepy Southern city has become just that place, and she returns to visit whenever she can. Her seven-novel-and-growing Anti-Belle series is centered in her hometown, partly as a homage and partly because these days Nashville is too hip to ignore.

In the real world, Skye is an English teacher in Brooklyn, New York, and has lived there long enough to consider herself a true New Yorker—even though she proudly cheers for the Tennessee Vols (her alma mater) and loves being a GRITS (Girl Raised in the South).

Skye’s philosophy is to live with your heart and mind open. She believes in the beauty of this world and seeks adventure and joy as a daily practice. If “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans,” as John Lennon said, then she’d rather leave the schedule open and let life happen. .
