Excerpt #2
Alexa Another Saturday night, another stakeout.
This time, I’m in the Big Apple Café, watching the apartment of Dr Khatun. It’s a lot of nursing the same cup of java while staring out a window.
Suddenly, a man pauses on the sidewalk outside. This isn’t just any guy, mind you, but Caelin MacGregor, the so-called King of Empire Investments. Rumors are, Vass is a ruthless in business and a bastard in general. I believe those tales. Then there are other whispers. Folks say Caelin is a vampire with mind control powers. I have a different opinion on that.
What a load of B-S.
Caelin pauses, giving me a chance to inspect him more closely. To say that Caelin is just handsome is like declaring that the Mona Lisa is simply a painting.
The slightest shiver rolls across Caelin’s shoulders. Inch by inch, he turns toward me. My pulse skyrockets. Our gazes meet.
Everything goes haywire.
Lights flash in the coffee shop. Street lamps pulse and crackle. A breeze strikes up out of nowhere. Mist pours across the floor. An electric shock of worry moves through my limbs.
This can’t be good.
Everything in the coffee shop goes dark, except for a few beams of moonlight. Moments pass as my eyes adjust. Once I can see clearly again, I can’t believe what’s around me. The cafe is empty. The street outside is deserted as well. The entire city appears dark and abandoned.
And I’ve changed, too. Now I’m sitting on the tabletop with my skirt up and legs parted. A man towers before me.
It’s Caelin.
Maybe I should scream now or run for the exit, but I don’t. Instead, my entire being seems frozen in shock… Except for my ability to soak in more details of Caelin. Up close, this so-called king even more magnetic. A gentle scruff lines his chin. His face is framed with strong bone structure. His full lips appear ripe for a kiss. The gentle scent of musk and leather assaults me. It isn’t fair for this man to be gorgeous and smell good as well.
All this time, Caelin has been staring at me with a look that can only be described as worshipful hunger. Don’t get me wrong. I make side money in bikini contests. Getting ogled is nothing new. But I’ve never been visually devoured in the way that’s happening right now. The sheer intensity makes my core twist with desire. With every cell in my body, I want to touch the curl of hair at the base of Caelin’ neck. Some part of me screams that this whole situation is impossible.
More of me doesn’t care.

ALL THIS TIME (Brandywood Small Town Romance Series #1) by Annabelle McCormack
Synopsis Samantha Redding swore off her hometown of Brandywood, Maryland when she left after high school. Sure, she misses her family, but growing up the victim of vicious gossip cured her of small-town living. Besides, the photography career she dreamed of couldn’t be found in the Appalachians.
But when Sam’s mom gets sick and needs her help, Sam’s faced with a long-term stay back home. As a tight deadline for her fast-paced job forces her to relocate a holiday photoshoot to Brandywood, Sam finds her old life converging with her new one. What’s more, she needs help from the townspeople she’s spent years disregarding. Overwhelmed, Sam finds an ally in a man who kept her at arm’s length all his life: brooding and sarcastic Garrett Doyle—her on-and-off again boyfriend’s best friend.
There’s a reason Garrett’s tried to keep his distance from Sam, though: being in love with your best friend’s girl sucks. But Sam needs help and he’s too much of a sucker to say no. Anyway, she’s leaving Brandywood soon enough, and then he can go back to trying to forget her.
. . . except, Sam’s about to discover that everything she thought she knew about home—and Garrett—was wrong.

Synopsis Gilded Butterfly is the second book in the Rockin’ Fairy Tales adult romantasy series by Leslie O’Sullivan. King Midas and the Golden Touch meets King Lear in a slow-burn, friends to lovers, romance set against the backdrop of a fictional Hollywood music scene.
Chorda Lear is a mega-hot pop artist, Internet influencer, and Irish witch who’s poised to inherit a magical family legacy, the Golden Guitar. She’s the fan favorite on a wildly popular reality television show, “Kickin’ It With Midas,” a trendy chronicle of three Hollywood influencer sisters and their aging rock star father, Midas Lear.
Adair Holliday, a Hollywood producer wunderkind, is slated to step up as showrunner of the Lear’s lucrative TV franchise. He must constantly temper his skepticism over best friend, Chorda’s, practice of magic, but his biggest challenge is denying romantic feelings for her.
When Chorda goes disastrously off-script during the live broadcast of the season finale, Lear banishes her from the show and his life. Adair follows his friend into exile with a plan to reconcile father and daughter. Away from the pressures of Hollywood, a steamy encounter under a waxing moon, deepens friendship into romance. Now, the two must reverse Midas’ edict to save both their professional futures and new-found love.

Excerpt “We’re complicated, Chorda. Our lives are tied up together. There’s risk taking us to a new level. We could decimate a lifelong friendship.”
She relaxes a bit and plops down next to me on the garden bench, staring at the waterfall. With a musical chirp, she whips around to face me. “Okay, my practical rule lover, let’s spell it out right now.” She runs the toe of her sneaker around the edge of a rock. “If we break up…” She shakes her head. “I can’t believe there’s even a need to say this.” She fills her cheeks with air and blows. “If we break up, we agree to give each other a month of space to be pissed or mourn or whatever. After that, we grab cables and jumpstart the friendship.”
I’m surprised jumper cables exist in Chorda’s awareness. “You’re proposing a dead battery scenario?”
“Blunt, but yes, one month to get over a breakup, no matter who initiates, then we hit replay to rebuild what we were before you saw me naked. Problem solved. If leaving the friend zone blows up in our faces, you won’t lose me, and I won’t lose you.”
I’ve never discussed a breakup before a relationship got off the ground. Granted, I’ve never shifted gears from friends to seeing each other naked before. My need to diffuse the intensity of this topic rises to the surface. “Do you discuss naked with all your first dates?”
A sly smile sneaks across Chorda’s plump lips. “Just this one.”
“As much as I enjoy naked talk, I appreciate you indulging my practical side.”
She slides a finger up my neck and tugs at my ear. “I get there’s nothing simple about redefining us.” Her gaze falls on a lavender rose bush growing behind the bench. She reaches to pluck off a bloom. “There’s nothing simple about the pattern of these rose petals, swirling out from the center. They overlap and work together to make an exquisite design.”
As Chorda pets the rose, the golden streak in her hair glows. I want so badly to touch the radiant strands and discover if there’s warmth to its light. In my gut, I know such a touch would be more intimate than we’ve ever been. Stroking her personal gold would be touching her essence. Such a step requires invitation.
Chorda’s eyes drift shut as she inhales the rose’s scent. “A rose is more than a rose. It’s nature’s expression of complexity and elegance.” Chorda rubs the rose petals against my cheek. “We’re a rose, Adair. Let us be a rose.”
It’s killing me not to capture this beat of eloquence for the show. Chorda weaves her point into a graceful outpouring of imagery and emotion.
I burn to take her in my arms and promise we are her rose. I do believe we have a chance. I want to build an exquisite design with her.
About the Author Leslie O’Sullivan is the author of Rockin’ Fairy Tales, an adult romance series of Shakespeare/fairy tale mash ups set against the backdrop of Hollywood’s music scene. Excerpt: A white puff of air filled the space between him and the steering wheel, and he realized he’d sighed. How long had he been sitting here, mind and memory in the past? Shoving his hands into gloves, he opened the rear door, grabbed the white plastic bag, and made his way to the front of the bin.
Determined, focused, and grim: That was Luke Luview these days. A bad match for a town that existed to make people feel good about love.
Living in Love You, Maine–heck, being a Luview–was never harder than when you had a broken heart.
Time to let go of some of the pain.
“AAAAAAooooooooo,” called out a band of coyotes in the distance, making Luke jolt. His personal weapon was at home. He didn’t carry it in the glove compartment or on his body when he was off duty, but as the coyote population grew in the area, maybe he should.
A few feet from the donation bin’s front, he looked at the lever to pull down, squeezing the bag slightly. A whiff of Amber’s perfume caught his nose, so faint he almost imagined it.
Colleen had washed all the clothes a few weeks ago, so he knew he imagined Amber’s scent. Didn’t matter. He’d take the illusion. That was how much he hurt.
A skitter inside the box made him frown.
Damn animals. They got in those bins all the time. He felt sorry for the poor sap who emptied these metal boxes, carting all the goods to the warehouse in Manchester where they cleaned and sorted, getting it all ready for the second-hand retail stores.
Just do this, he thought, swallowing hard as the coyotes mated in the distance. The sound was violent and creepy, but for whatever reason, it felt fitting.
Throwing the tangible reminders of that terrible day into the donation box felt dangerous, too.
“I love you, Amber,” he murmured. “But I have to let you go. Have to let that day go. Harriet needs a daddy who isn’t tied down by grief. Just because I’m doing this doesn’t mean I love you any less, though.”
Tears pricked his eyes. “Why is this so hard? Because it’s hard,” he said with a huff. “That’s what you would say if you were here. You’d hug me and comfort me and tell me feelings are meant to be felt or they’d be called something else. You’d have all the right words. I don’t have any. I just have a big hole in my life, Amber. And you’re never going to fill it. Colleen says I can’t feel guilty for moving on. I don’t. But I sure do feel weird.”
And then he reached for the handle, pulled it down, and threw the bag in while calling out loudly, “I love you.”
To his utter shock, she replied from the darkness of the box, “I’m in here!”

TRAPPED IN LOVE (MacGregor Brothers Brewing Company Series #2) by Danica Flynn
Synopsis When my boss forced me on vacation to think about my career at the brewery, I wanted to scream. Then my sister suggested I spend the week at our dad’s cabin in the Poconos to think about what I really wanted.
Hoping for a relaxing week of fishing, hiking, and drinking lots of beer, I didn’t expect to find my sworn enemy already there. It was clear we had been setup by my meddlesome sister.
I had no desire to work out my differences with Felix freaking Jameson. He already broke my heart twice and I wasn’t going to let him do it a third time.
I just hoped the cabin was big enough for the both of us. And that I could forget how good it felt when his mouth was on mine. I definitely wasn’t going to let him into my bed again. Definitely not.
Trapped in Love is a small-town summer vacation romance set in the Poconos. If you love enemies to lovers and forced proximity, this one is for you.

Excerpt #3 She set her beer down and got up to poke at the fire again. She put in more logs, but on her way back to her chair, she tripped over my feet. I reached an arm out and pulled her into my lap before she fell on her ass. Or worse, into the fire.
“Whoa there,” I said.
A blush rose across her pale face. For a moment, time stood still as I cradled her in my arms, and she stared into my very soul. She slid her hands around my neck and bent her head to mine to meet me in a slow kiss.
When she kissed me, I forgot about all the reasons why this was a bad idea. I didn’t stop her when she took the lead and ran her tongue across mine. Instead, I slid my hands up the back of her hoodie, my body tingling as I felt the warmth of her skin, and I kissed her harder. We kissed for so long the fire had died down when she pulled away.
She shifted, straddling me like she might ride my dick right here in front of the fire.
Don’t think about that, Felix. Stop thinking about fucking her again.
“Fe?”
“Yeah?” I croaked out.
“Tell me to stop,” she said as she rested her forehead against mine and her lips ghosted across mine. “Tell me you don’t want to kiss me again.”
I cupped her face and pulled back to take her all in. Her cheeks were flushed pink, and her lips were swollen from being kissed too much. And yet not enough. I wanted to kiss her all night long until she begged me to stop.
“Gem, I want to kiss you until you can’t breathe. I want to take you inside and have my way with you until you’re gasping for breath and can’t handle one more orgasm. And then I want to give you one more.”
She bit her lip, and then the little brat rubbed herself on my dick. Fuck me. She was going to be the end of me.
I gripped her hair in my fist. “I can only give you this week. I can’t give you anything more.”
She dipped her head back down and hovered over my mouth. “Give me this week. Fuck me until you break me, and come Sunday, we’ll go home with nothing changed.”
“I want something to change.”
“What’s that?” she asked and stared at me with eyes hooded with lust.
“After this week, you won’t hate me anymore.”
“No promises,” she said and kissed me again.
We were kidding ourselves with these promises, but we were too horned up to think about the consequences. If she wanted a summer fling, I could give her that, but that was all I could give her. No matter how much I longed for something more.
About the Author Danica Flynn started writing at an early age, and thinks Meg Cabot’s Princess Diaries series is why she loves both writing and romance books. She is a rabid hockey fan of both The Philadelphia Flyers and the Metropolitan Riveters. When not writing, she can be found hanging with her partner, playing video games, and reading a ton of books.

Excerpt #2 Valerie
The shed is only a few yards away as we exit my parents’ house. Twilight has fallen, crickets putting on their concert from the tall grass that needs mowing. The garden of night-blooming flowers I’ve planted around the perimeter of the shed is taking on that ethereal glow as the white petals open. The silvery leaves of some of the plants catch the fading light just right. An owl hoots from the woods and normally that would pull me in that direction. I love owls and a chance to see one always interests me.
Except tonight.
Tonight, I’ve got something—someone—far more interesting walking beside me toward the shed.
“Your parents are great,” Reid says. “And your mom really knows how to charm a dog with leftover chicken. Akira couldn’t have cared less that I left the house.”
We’re standing close enough that our arms brush against each other’s once in a while as we near the shed. Each touch threatens to light me on fire. I’ve dated here and there after Ryan was born, but none of those guys ignited me the way Reid did on our only night together.
The way he is right now.
“I’m glad you like my parents,” I say. “Pretty much everyone does.”
“Your brother seems nice too, but he doesn’t approve of me.” Reid turns to face me after we reach the shed.
“He just doesn’t know you,” I say. “He’ll come around.” I hope that’s true. Den has his troubles, but they’re troubles I caused him to have. “When Ryan was nearly ready to make his grand entrance into the world, there was a complication. There was bleeding. I passed out.” I gather my hair onto my right shoulder and study my shoes for a moment. “I almost died. Almost lost Ryan too. Den found me.” I look up at Reid. “It was traumatic for my brother. That led him to develop unhealthy coping strategies.”
“Like drinking?”
“Bingo.” I draw in a breath. “He’s doing better now though, and as far as you go, he’s just looking out for Ryan and me.”
“I’m glad you and Ryan were okay, and I understand why your brother is protective. I’d be the same.”
“Do you have any siblings?”
“No. It’s just me. My parents passed when I was twelve. I went to live with Uncle Karl after that.”
“There’s so much I don’t know about you,” I start, “but . . .”
“You feel as if you do know me,” Reid finishes.
“Yeah. How is that possible?”
He shrugs. “Not sure, but I feel the same way.” He closes his hand around my wrist like he’d done earlier today. I like his touch even more after spending time with him this evening. “As soon as I saw you this morning, I was transported back to our night together. I wanted more back then, but we had our different paths to travel.”
My entire body buzzes with desire as I stand, linked with him, in the fading light of the day. “And now?”
He uses his other hand, his scarred one, to hook my hair behind my ear. His hand slides down to hook on my neck, his rough thumb caressing my cheek.
“Now,” he whispers, taking a step closer, “I still want more.”

Synopsis Socialite Quinn Appleton knows how to live life—at full speed and with no limits. She has the perfect life, an amazing boyfriend, friends by the bucketload and an eye for fashion. Life is good.
The Appletons are a household name, their eponymous biscuit empire having been in the family for over one hundred and fifty years, making them one of the country’s richest families. They are no strangers to controversy either, constantly gracing the covers of gossip magazines, caught in compromising positions at outrageous parties.
But CEO and matriarch Lady Elizabeth Appleton has had enough. Tired of her children and grandchildren not pulling their weight and dragging the once respectable Appleton name through the mud, she decides to cut them all off financially.
With her life in ruins, Quinn is just one Jimmy Choo heel away from living in a cardboard box when Gran gives her an ultimatum: take a job at the company for six months and her trust fund will be reinstated. The catch? She must do it under a false identity and work her way up—no one can know she’s an Appleton.
Surely it can’t be that hard to hold down a lousy job? After all, millions of other people seem to do it. But Quinn is about to learn just how different the world is when you find yourself suddenly working class..
————————————————————————————–
Excerpt #2 After yet another seemingly endless long day, Quinn kicked off her heels and sank to her bed, massaging her aching feet one at a time. She was desperate for a bath, but an image of the scum rings around the tub at the end of the hall sent a shudder through her. ‘Looks like a hot shower it’ll be,’ she muttered despondently, dragging herself back upright to find her comfiest lounging clothes before heading to the bathroom.
She opened the bathroom door and a wave of steam poured out to greet her. As it cleared, she found herself staring open-mouthed at a man who was shaving, standing naked except for a fluffy white towel wrapped around his hips.
She did a double-take—her fluffy white towel!
‘Hi,’ he said, far more calmly than the situation warranted.
‘That’s my towel!’ she shrieked.
He slowly looked down at the towel in question, which was tucked, somewhat haphazardly, around his lean hips, before glancing back up at her.
‘Yeah, sorry. I forgot to grab mine.’
‘Well, take it off!’
He kinked a lazy eyebrow and gave a slow smile that momentarily distracted her outrage.
‘Well, okay, if that’s what you want,’ he shrugged, putting down the razor and moving his fingers to the corner of the towel, holding it gingerly across his hips.
‘What the hell are you doing?’ she gasped, coming to her senses.
‘Giving your towel back.’
‘Oh my God. You’re naked. I don’t want to see you naked!’ she snapped, then swallowed nervously. I mean, it wouldn’t be the absolute worst view in town, a little voice inside reasoned, before she shook her head swiftly to dislodge the wayward thought. ‘What’s wrong with you?’
‘Just trying to keep you happy.’
She stared at this man before her, half his face freshly shaved, the other half still covered in shaving cream, watching her through slightly amused dark-blue eyes, and found herself close to tears. It really was too much. All she’d wanted was to take a hot shower to try and wash away the frustration of another day working in a stupid job she hated, and now she was standing here, being laughed at by some half-naked stranger wearing her Abyss and Habidecor one hundred percent Egyptian cotton towel!
‘Hey, I’m sorry,’ the stranger said, his demeanour changing instantly. ‘Seriously, I jumped in the shower and forgot my towel. I saw this one and figured I’d be able to duck back to my room and get dressed and replace it before anyone knew it was missing.’
‘Are you freaking crazy? You were going to use my towel—a complete stranger—and then just put it back?’ It was beyond gross.
‘I was planning on washing it first,’ he said, sounding insulted she’d even consider him doing anything less.
‘Oh, well, that’s big of you,’ she snapped, wiping her eyes before sniffing and searching for the box of tissues she’d put in here that morning.
‘We were out of toilet paper,’ he said sheepishly, looking across the room where the tissues sat on the floor beside the toilet.
Quinn’s shoulders slumped in defeat. Just when she figured this day couldn’t get any worse, it just kept proving her wrong.
Without a word, she turned on her heel and walked out of the bathroom.

Excerpt #3 Gia burst out the doors of the Eye, shouting back at the guards. “Take Yiannis somewhere and keep him alive until I come back!”
She whipped through the flooded casino floor with great haste, her tail flapping wildly behind her. At the casino’s exit, she was met by another set of Shadow’s men. The water was already shoulder-high, and the men had to tread water to stay in place.
She blew past them and yelled, “Try to follow me, if you can!” She rounded a corner into a smaller canal against a strong current.
The guards did their best to keep up, but they could not match her strength.
A short wall of water crashed over a bridge, washing it out. Debris hit one man, and he floated away. Gia zipped through Venice, taking every underwater shortcut to reach her palazzo as quickly as possible. She looked over her shoulder to see if Shadow’s man was still following her, but he was long gone.
Citizens and tourists trapped in their houses and hotels screamed for help from the windows. Everyone was wholly unprepared for this strange, sudden flood. The police and coast guard weren’t any help, either. Boats could not navigate the angry waters flowing through the canals.
As the water covered everything in sight, furniture, people, artwork, and centuries-old structures tumbled away in the current. Gia had never seen anything like this. Was Queen Karen really capable of all of this destruction on her own?
Gia said a silent prayer, immensely grateful that Vittore was safe in faraway Greece and not drowning in his barber shop down the street. Then her thoughts turned to Serena.
I have to get to my baby. I should have kept her with me. Why did I have to confront Yiannis? How stupid of me. I should have listened to Shadow and Florent.
As she turned to the left and approached her street, she darted to the surface. A row of merfolk—soldiers—were at her front door. They banged on it, but Shadow had reinforced it, and it wouldn’t budge.
Suddenly, there were loud pops in the air, like fireworks explod- ing. A bullet knocked one soldier down. Then another. Blood spilled into the water.
All the time, the water was rising.
The soldiers split away, retreating until the water rose enough for them to swim over Gia’s walls and into the courtyard of her palazzo.
When they were out of eyesight, she dove to the bottom of the canal and moved with careful strokes until she reached the secret hatch in her pool. She entered the code into the new security system Shadow had installed, and the door rolled open. She swam inside, into the bottom of her pool, and quickly closed the hatch door behind her.
She shot up to the surface. Water had flooded everything, but Shadow’s men had strapped on their scuba equipment. They were armed with harpoons and ready to fight.
“Where is Shadow?!” she howled. “Where is my baby?!”

Excerpt An image flashed before Bridget’s eyes. A vision of the one thing she’d never been able to control. A crush that, no matter how old she got or how many people she dated, never fully subsided. And she hated that. She played by the rules, in control of every aspect of her life—except this one stupid thing. Plus . . .
Bridget lowered her voice as deep as it would go and said sternly, “One does not hook up with any member of Storyhill.”
Kal rolled her eyes. “Is Andrew the boss of you?”
Bridget folded a pair of black leggings and a tunic and tucked them neatly on top of her jumpsuit. “No,” she scoffed. “But it’s likely still good advice.” While her personal life was none of her big brother’s business, she didn’t need to go looking for trouble.
Kal held up a pair of shoes to the tunic and, evidently satisfied they matched, tucked them in Bridget’s suitcase. “How would Andrew even know? He’ll be far more interested in his own wedding night than anything you get up to.”
Bridget dropped to the bed with a sigh. “Why are you not letting this go?”
Kal lightly tugged at the ends of Bridget’s hair. “Because you’ve had this crush for YEARS. Maybe a good shag would get him out of your system once and for all.”
Or make it worse.
Bridget rubbed at the tension gathering between her eyes. “And how do you propose I do that? Walk up to him at the rehearsal dinner, tap on his elbow, and say, ‘My best friend thinks it’d be a good idea for us to sleep together. You in?’”
Kalisha laughed. “I would pay so much money to hear you say that.”
Old Bridget might have done something like that, but new Bridget? No way. New Bridget understood that most risk was not worth the reward. “Yeah, well, that is not happening. For so many reasons. Not the least being, he’s one of my brother’s best friends.”
