Synopsis When you wake up in Bath, England two hundred years in the past, how far can a love of Jane Austen get you?
Janet Roberts dreams of an academic career in literature, so she can hardly believe her good fortune when she’s accepted into a Jane Austen graduate seminar in Bath, England. Settled in Georgian splendor among her seminar colleagues, Janet and her classmates live, eat and breathe Jane Austen.
An accident interrupts this idyll when Janet regains consciousness in her own room—back in Regency England. For a scholar of nineteenth-century literature, this should be a dream come true.
But Janet quickly learns there’s a world of difference between scholarly knowledge of the written page and maneuvering real life as a reluctant time traveler.
Her burgeoning friendship with Emma Huntington eases her entrée into nineteenth-century society. However, Emma’s brother, the handsome, proud and frustratingly magnetic Sir Edward, is far less welcoming.
While desperately attempting to make sense of her dilemma, Janet treads a thin line between trying to blend into her new world and not being unmasked as the imposter she is. Can she discover the way to return to her twenty-first century life? After working so hard to create a rewarding nineteenth-century life for herself and opening her hart to friendship and love, does she even want to?

Excerpt #2 In her room, Janet sat at the window seat, watching the people wandering the narrow streets of Bath. She read a few pages of her book before giving in to her exhaustion and crawling into bed. After setting the alarm, she drifted off to a troubled sleep.
A piano played in the distance. Mozart. Voi che sapete. Janet struggled to breathe. Something constricted her chest and waist, yet her feet still carried her forward at a brisk pace, through candle-filled hallways she didn’t recognize. Full-length portraits lined the walls. Thick velvet brushed against her legs as she walked.
An inexplicable sense of relief washed over her when she reached a room. Her hand clasped the doorknob and turned. She slipped inside, closing the door behind her.
Darkness enveloped her. Her heartbeat slowed as she looked up to something familiar. Individual, disjointed images captured her gaze. A billowing pink cloth. An alabaster face, slightly turned. Arms reaching up to the sky. A splattering of green. These flashes seemed to calm her, but she struggled in vain to see the single parts in their entirety.
A movement under the soothing images caught her attention. A chair was positioned before a fireplace. Someone stood. A man, his back toward her. He was tall, dressed in fine, old-fashioned clothes. There was something so familiar about him. Now he was turning and taking long strides across the room to where she stood. Her heart beat faster.
Janet tried in vain to make out his features but quickly gave up. It was as if she were glimpsing him through a fog. She longed to retreat, but her feet remained firmly rooted in place as his confident gait narrowed the distance between them.
Although he was mere inches from her, she could still not distinguish the features of his face. Only the depths of his blue eyes were distinct. As she gazed into them, she felt an unfamiliar fluttering in her stomach. The man slipped a book into her hand. She opened to see shadow words scrawled in thick, black ink. Squinting did not help bring them into focus. He began to speak. She watched his lips move. She heard his voice as if she were under water, not comprehending the individual words. Oddly soothing, but indecipherable.
He reached up and stroked her face before enveloping her in an embrace. Who was this stranger who was overly familiar with her? She knew she should scream and flee, but her thoughts did not control her body. Her legs made no attempt to move from this unknown man.
Inexplicably, she felt safe in his arms, with his heart beating solidly beside hers. Now he was pulling back, stroking her hair, searching her face.
Janet still only saw the shadow version of him, soft and out of focus. She gave up trying to reconstruct his face. His gaze mesmerized her. It seemed so familiar, made her knees feel weak. Those piercing blue eyes kept coming closer and closer to her own face until firm lips brushed against her own. A warmth spread throughout her body. High-pitched yells rang out. Her knees buckled.
A burst of pain exploded at her temple, and she woke with a panicked start. Her eyes flickered around the room in confusion. Deep breaths.
It was nothing. Her hotel room in Bath. A dream. Only a dream.
As her heartbeat slowed and her breathing calmed, she realized it was most likely the jet lag or all the silly talk of romantic literature. Her head throbbed. Willing the pain to stop, she closed her eyes and drifted back to sleep.

Excerpt #2 Our food arrives just in time so I can stuff my mouth before I say something that’ll upset my hormonal best friend.
“Thanks, André,” she grins.
While unwrapping the silverware, a girl in her late teens sitting cross-legged at the table in the corner catches my eye. Auburn locks peak out of the oversized hoody she’s wearing over black leggings. A bulging paisley print backpack sits at her feet.
“What are you looking at?”
“The girl in the corner sitting alone.”
She looks over her shoulder. “Do you know her?”
I shake my head. “Never seen her.”
“Then why are you staring?”
“For starters, she’s dressed awfully warm for spring, even in Twinkle Falls.”
“Maybe she’s visiting, or new in town.”
“Could be. She’s a fast eater, that’s for sure.”
“You’re awfully curious about someone you don’t know.”
“There’s something about her. She’s different from our usual visitors. Something tells me there’s a story behind those dark eyes.”
“Quit staring at the poor girl.” Sophie shakes her head.
“It was just an observation. How’s your lunch?”
“Good. I guess I was hungrier than I thought.”
“I see that, but you are eating for two—or three.” I grin.
Her eyes grow. “Bite your tongue Bridge. There’s only one baby in here according to the ultrasound.”
“Maybe the little girl is hiding behind her brother.”
Her napkin grazes my cheek as she playfully hits me. “Hey, why don’t you guys come over for dinner? The kids have been asking to see you.”
“You mean tonight?”
“Yes tonight. Why, do you have plans?”
Grabbing my phone, I skim my finger across it. “Oh look at that, I’m available.”
“Ha, ha smarty pants.” She purses her lips as her eyes roll.
“What time you want us there?”
“Liam should get home on time since Trace helped him out this morning, so how’s six o’clock?”
“Ryan is off shift so that works. Are you cooking any of my favorites?”
My gaze wanders back to the stranger in the corner as she eases out of her chair with her back to us. She grabs the backpack, hugging it against her while quickly walking to the door.
André scoops the folder with the check and money off the table, opening it. When his jaw droops, I’m pretty sure I know why. He looks at me and holds up the empty folder.
“Did you hear a word I said?” Sophie asks.
“She stiffed us! Stay here, I’ll be back.” I rise and briskly walk to the front door as it closes behind her.
Looking right then left, I see the girl crossing the road and heading for the park. I watch as she stops and leans over in exhaustion. Wondering if she’s okay, I cross the street and touch her shoulder when her backpack slides to the ground.
“Hey, are you alright?”
Glancing at me, she says, “I’m fine.”
“Did you forget something back at the cafe?”
I stare at her, waiting to hear some lame excuse when she straightens up with her right hand clutching her stomach… her unusually rounded stomach. “I—I—” she stutters as she attempts to catch her breath.
“Are you pregnant?” I stare at her belly which is larger than Sophie’s.
After a moment of silence, she shifts her weight, peering at me with her dark eyes. “No, I swallowed a basketball.”
“Don’t get smart with me missy or I’ll call the cops and let them deal with you.”
Fear flashes through her eyes before they soften. “Yes, I’m pregnant.”
I pick up her backpack and point to the bench on the other side of the pathway. “Let’s sit.”
She waddles to the wooden bench before easing onto it. Seeing the worry on her face, I put her bag between us and sit facing her. “What’s your name?”
Staring at her clasped hands, she lifts her head. “Kylee.”
“Are you here with anyone?”
“No.”
“Where are you from?”
“The same place as you, by the sound of it.” I narrow my eyes, before she adds, “France. I’m from France.”
“Does your family still live there?” I ask.
She shakes her head.
“Then where do they live?”
“Nowhere, they—died.”
As her eyes grow dark again, I lean back on the bench. “I’m sorry. It must be hard not having family around, especially in your condition.”
“I have a distant relative, but she doesn’t want a pregnant stranger showing up on her doorstep.”
Shrugging, she fidgets with her hands. “Where are you staying?” I pry.
“There.” Kylee points to a cottage at the back of the church. Years ago, Pastor Morgan converted a three stall barn into a cottage for short term housing.

Excerpt #2 Gregory
I thought back to the night Baker had cornered us in the pub, rerunning every moment in my memory. “Meriden, there wasn’t any driver. The horse wandered into the alley on its own.” Though, I had to admit to myself, that seemed convenient.
“I know.” Her voice was barely audible. “But I saw him. His entire body is like my hand in my dreams, and his eyes are completely black.” She shivered, probably from a combination of her story and the cold breeze that whipped by. “And this wasn’t the first time. I’ve seen him in my village as well. I thought he was one of the Railings’ gardeners that died in the attack. Now, I think there’s something more to it. Like I’m either cursed or mental.”
God, she must’ve been terrified if she was confiding such things to me. “I doubt you’re either,” I told her. Yet something brought to mind what Baker had said.
“Her blood is cursed, Mr. Wilson. Tainted by her family’s greed. Much like your own.”
“When did you say you started seeing the ghost? Was it after the pirate attack?”
Meriden’s head shot up. “Yes, but not right after. I’d been out for weeks because . . .” She trailed off, momentarily. “Because of the map, which was created from my blood.”
By the look on Meriden’s face, she had drawn the same conclusion as I had. Bloody hell. Baker had been right. Her blood had been cursed, which was probably why she saw her veins turning black. I took the hand she kept rubbing and flipped her palm toward the starlight.
Nothing visible, yet knowing it was there made me sick with grief. I pulled her trembling body closer and gently stroked her hair.
“Whatever this is, curse or otherwise, we solve it together. I promise.”
Meriden only nodded. Her mind focused on other things. I looked in the direction of the star she often wished upon, thinking of making a wish of my own—a wish that Baker was wrong—only to see a shadow in the distance.
“Meriden, toward the northeast.”
Meriden gazed over at the horizon. Without a word, she pulled a spyglass from a sack tied to the guardrail, extending it to its full length. “Frigate,” she said under her breath, then leaned over the rail to call into the night. “Sails!”

Excerpt #2 The noises of the tavern drained away, and a gloom fell over the place. It reminded her of what happened at Marvin’s store. She was back in the Eternal, though, this time, she was at the tavern. All the people around her had frozen. She walked across the still crowd and saw Everett protecting Sarah from several Brutes. The other dragon warriors were busy keeping any hostiles from getting near Tatiana, who was lying on the ground. She had one eye slightly open to peek at her surroundings. It was pretty obvious she was faking unconsciousness.
When all seemed still and quiet, she caught sight of something stirring in the darkness of the tavern’s interior. Black mist! It was dripping from the ceiling, rising from the floor. Mist from different spots rushed to the center of the tavern and merged. Something grotesque was forming from it. Penny quickly hid behind the tavern counter and observed the transformation. A wolf took shape, only this time it was nearly thrice as large as the previous one.
Was this new mist form a manifestation of the head Brute’s anger? If it was, it was a clear indication of how much it had grown. Could this huge wolf be the cause of the mist, and defeating it would destroy the mist altogether? There was only one way to find out.
Penny readied herself. She checked her feet and saw the shiny red shoes were back. She peered out from the side of the counter, but the wolf was no longer at where it had stood. Carefully, she emerged and took cover under a table. Bit by bit, she advanced closer and closer. She needed to be close enough to open the portal and bring it to reality.
“Penny, you can do this!” As she moved to the next table, the wolf turned wildly with its eyes fixed on Penny.
She put out her hand and a fireball shot out, hitting the back of the wolf. Its bellow shook the tavern. More fireballs hit the body of the wolf, but they only made the demon angrier. It leaped and crashed down on the tables before Penny.
It sank its terrifying misty black fangs into the table, concealing Penny and crushing it into debris. Penny ducked away in time. She was then lying on the floor as the wolf turned toward its attacker. Penny willed her mind and conjured as much power as she could, igniting blast after blast. The wolf roared as the fiery magic engulfed its front body.
She got back on her feet and backed away, but the wolf clawed at her, slashing her shoulder. Penny suddenly felt drained, wincing at the searing pain in her shoulder. That voice, she heard it before. It was the most familiar voice; it was hers. Immense rage came flooding through her all of a sudden. Thoughts of her staring into the mirror at her ugly reflection and trapped inside a cell rushed into her mind.
The wolf closed in as she crawled away and hid beneath another table. The wolf clawed under the table, barely missing her as she moved out of range. She tried to conjure magic, but every blow she delivered hit the wrong places and missed its target.
“What’s going on?” It was like her magic was malfunctioning. It must have something to do with her getting slashed by the wolf’s claw. She was going to die if she didn’t find a way out.
The wolf smashed the table to pieces. She had nowhere to go, nowhere to hide. The wolf’s snout was before her. Anytime now it’s going to devour her.
She struggled and gathered her thoughts, focusing instead on the happiest memory buried within her. She closed her eyes. The wolf’s mouth closed in, ready to consume its helpless prey.

Excerpt #2 He placed her hand over his heart. “You feel this too, don’t you?” His words were a breath across her lips.
Under her palm, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat was the best cadence she’d ever felt. A tear escaped, trailing a fiery streak down her cheek.
“Aww… Daught… You’re killing me.” His fingers were warm on her chin as he lifted her face. Magnetic pulsing energy radiated from his touch, twanging low in her stomach.
She wanted more of his touch. All of it. Hand-holding and kissing and long, lazy lovemaking. The next two years without him were going to be torture, and it was all her fault.
His face was naked with longing, desire, affection. It was beautiful to see this powerful man baring his emotions to her. Emotions that had everything to do with her, with wanting her. It was a heady drug, one she wanted to overdose on. If she never saw him after today, she’d forever remember the way he looked at her right now, like she was his entire world.
He slid his hand into her hair, the movement causing a rash of goose bumps to break out all over her body. “I’m sorry for breaking the rules. I take all the blame.”
She opened her mouth to ask him what rule he’d broken, just as his lips landed on hers. The world fell out from under her. She grabbed on to him to keep from falling, latching onto his shirt and yanking him closer. His arm clamped around her, holding her even tighter to him, and the raw male strength of his body against hers was a revelation. Heat radiated off him like he was her own personal sun.
And then his tongue was in her mouth—hot and warm and tasting like a wish. The salt of her tears mingled to make this kiss the one that all other kisses would be measured by.
And then it was over, and he was pulling away. She wanted to beg him to keep kissing her, and maybe the world and the two years separating them would disappear.
She loves Snicker Parfaits. Gotta start with what’s most important, right?
She writes dark emotional books featuring damaged characters, but always gives her hero and heroine a happy ending… after torturing them for three hundred pages.
By day she’s a mental health counselor known for her blunt, honest style of therapy. At night she burns up the keyboard. Well… Burn might be too strong a word. She at least sits with her hands poised over the keyboard, waiting for inspiration to strike. And when it does—the keyboard might get a little warm.
She can’t stand it when people drive slowly in the passing lane. Just saying. That’s major annoying. Right?
She loves taking pictures of things she thinks are pretty.

Excerpt #2 My lungs have decided that the world is too dangerous to make a move, utter a sound, do anything. I’m frozen, the pulse inside me growing stronger as time ticks away. My own shut-down system is the barrier to oxygen. The disconnect between what my body needs and what my tattered psyche can handle is causing my overload to leak out in a really obvious way.
“Fiona?” Josh says, shaking me gently, Michelle looking to him for certainty.
And then suddenly, Josh is out of my sight, replaced by two clear, calm, green eyes, light brown hair, and hands that feel like anchors.
“Feisty? Feis–Fiona?” Fletch corrects. The sudden pivot to using my proper name is jarring, given the fact that every atom in the world is buzzing inside my ears and nothing anyone does will help me to breathe.
I make a strange sound. I know it’s strange because his eyebrows turn down in the middle, his facial muscles pushing them low enough to show concern.
Concern for me.
“Breathe,” he says slowly as he puts one hand on my diaphragm, fingers warm and firm.
I make a sound to indicate that I am confused and the speech centers in my brain have shut down. Empathy floods me as I realize this is exactly what my student with severe apraxia, little Myles, must feel like when he loses his words under extreme stress. For years, I’ve said “use your words” to four-year-olds having anxiety fits.
Never again.
“Breathe, Fiona,” he murmurs, taking a deep breath to demonstrate, his belly expanding in a comical way, though I know his technique is strong. Hypnotic and commanding, his voice and body tell me what to do, guide me back from being lost in the woods to a cleared trail where I can find my footing, take a rest, and possibly feel safe again, knowing I can find my way home.
I inhale, the insides of my nostrils cold, the air hitting my nasal passages a welcome assault, diaphragm spasming and sputtering back to life.
“That’s my girl,” he whispers against the curl of my ear, his breath like coffee, his hard forearm muscles all I can see, the ripped cord of his strong lines drawing my gaze. “You just breathe. It’s over now. You did it. You saved them. It’s okay to breathe.” He inhales, then slowly exhales. “Let’s do this together now.”

Synopsis *A FIGHTING CHANCE is Book 6 in the Disaster Crimes series, but it’s a spin-off featuring a new couple, so it can be read as a standalone.*
Thorn has loved Amanda from afar, giving her whatever she needs as a survivor of abuse—space, protection, and stability. He yearns to give her more, though, to share his feelings, kiss her, love her, but he’s worried the truth will frighten her away.
And Amanda is afraid. She’s scared of her attraction for Thorn. Most of all, she’s terrified of her ex-boyfriend, who is lurking nearby where no one can find him. When she grows closer to Thorn, Damon retaliates, jeopardizing their happy ending.
Up against an abusive ex and Mother Nature, do Thorn and Amanda have a fighting chance?
————————————————————————————-
Exclusive Excerpt Amanda looked up from the current list of up-to-date payments for classes. A movement outside the glass storefront caught her eye. She tilted her head to see a man coming up the sidewalk from the side where the picnic bench sat. Through the vertical blinds, she glimpsed a square face—a short, rugged beard and long, dark hair pulled into a man bun. Her breath fled from her lungs. Her body went from icy cold to flaming hot in the span of a millisecond. She dropped to the floor and slid under the counter, beneath the ledge where they put their purses and cell phones.
“What—” Beth peeked at the windows. Then she snapped her fingers at April and pointed at the stools.
April jumped into action. She pushed the stools in so they blocked Amanda. The bell attached to the door jingled as April removed the jacket she wore and draped it across the stools, creating a curtain to shield Amanda.
From a crack, Amanda watched Beth move to stand in front of the twins, who were in their walkers playing peacefully. “I’m sorry, but we’re going to be closing.”
“I don’t give a shit. I’m here for Amanda.”
The sound of Damon’s voice had her heart beating even harder. That voice had haunted her nightmares, had come back to life in her memories.
Beth cocked her head to the side. “Who? There’s no one by that name here.”

SAY YOU’LL BE THERE (Love In Seven Mile Forge Series #2) by Billie Dale
Synopsis From award winning author Billie Dale comes a second chance love story muddling the line between love and hate. As young love goes Joey and Preslee were perfect but nothing last forever and the world is ready for the taking. Dale’s sassy wit shines in comedic fashion with Say You’ll Be There, book two in Love in Seven Mile Forge.
At sixteen, Joey Holmes handed me his heart.
At eighteen, I threw it at the Now Leaving Seven Mile Forge sign on my way out of town.
A silly teenage game of seven minutes in heaven spiraled us from friends to more.
We shared our firsts. Loved with the innocence of immaturity.
I wanted out. A fresh start far away from our tiny home town. Joey didn’t care where we were so long as we were together. I couldn’t spread my wings without clipping his. My heart told me I was doing what was best when I left him broken in my rearview mirror.
With a threat breathing down my neck, I’m forced to return home but Joey isn’t the skinny boy I knew. Nope, now he’s the sexiest Chief of Police in three states and he hates the very air I breathe.
Can the hot cop keep me safe from the danger lurking in the shadows or will the bleached bones of the skeletons in my closet be our tragic end?
————————————————————————————–
————————————————————————————–
Excerpt #2 I recognize this man-child smile. The one capable of turning the hardest, scariest enforcer into a big kid.
“Joey? Josiah Holmes?”
Fuck my life. He was a slumpy, nothing, short stack the last time we were together. Not much bigger than me, which I enjoyed because when I wore heels I was actually taller than someone. Now he’s all towering, beefy, and take it all off hot.
“I’m gonna run these. Sit tight and don’t make any sudden jerky movements.” He yanks the items from my hand.
“Joey? Come on, it’s me. I’m cold and headed to Sammy Lee’s. Can’t we let this one slide?” I blink my eyes, remembering how he never could tell me no when I turned on the charm.
His cheeky vigor falls to a thin pinched line. “Officer Holmes,” his voice lowers, turning jaded. “And I let nothing slide. Roads are too nasty for the speed you were driving.” The icy bite of his tone is worse than the blustering winter tundra surrounding me. He twists on his thick boot heel, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t watch those tight ass-cupping pants walk back to his car.
The frost continues when he returns, handing me a ticket and my documents. “Slow it down,” he warns. He pauses on his path away, turning those irritating glass-hidden eyes, which I want to slap off his face. “Welcome home, Preslee Carmichael,” he jeers. Cocking a one-sided smirk, he head bobs in that Southern gentlemanly way and walks to his car.
I spend the rest of the drive to Double V ranch pissed off. Angry at the insane circumstances that sent me running home, raging because my brother can’t be here for a few weeks, and irritated at Joey Fucking Holmes for not only ticketing me, but also pretending we meant nothing to each other and being delicious while he did it.
Fuck my life and fuck Seven Mile Forge.
I think we both knew I wouldn’t call.

Excerpt #2 Her gaze jumped between my eyes and lips, eyes and lips. My blood boiled. I was going to devour her. But I gritted my teeth to keep from doing so. I’d already gone to her over and over, made every move. It was about time she did the moving.
And she did.
Leaning over the armrest, she brushed her soft lips over mine. The sharp breath I sucked in couldn’t be stopped. Blood rushed through my veins, my pulse pounding in my ears. I wanted to gobble her up but again stayed my hand. She pulled back slightly, and I bit my cheek to keep from grabbing that braid and crushing my mouth back to hers.
“Oh, and I forgot to add, no more being a jackass,” she murmured against my lips, and my heart sang.
I fucking adored her.
I chuckled darkly, muttering, “Now that’s one thing I cannot abide,” before snaking that braid around my hand and brushing my lips against hers.

Synopsis My lips hitch up an inch as the hulking, slender man bends down to whisper in my ear. “A divided kingdom without a leader is weak. You will fall. You will fail. You will all die without my kindness, little girl.” He expects me to falter, shiver, and drop my gaze to the ground like the flock of gentry buzzing around him. My eyes widen in feigned dismay. “Kindness? Why did no one think to tell me you had any?” I have to allow him that one concession: Rydekar is fun to tease. He doesn’t even smile. I don’t think anyone has taunted him. “I have none. You will beg nonetheless.” I just may, in his dreams. And in my nightmares.
No one was ever born less suited to ruling than Rissa, the thorn of the seelie realm—a half-fae so wild she’s spent the better part of a hundred years in the woods.
For all her flaws, she’s the last of the high court bloodline, and the southern king seems to think that’s reason enough to slap a crown on her feathered head. He needs her to unify the seelie forces. She needs him to forget about that nonsense.
In an effort to aid her people without condemning herself to a lifetime of misery, she sets off on a journey to find the one person with a stronger claim to the throne than hers: the cursed prince. Sealed in the mountains of the Wilderness, under many spells, the heir of the first seelie queen is the only royal strong enough to protect the fae lands from their immortal invaders.
Surviving the untamed tribes and awakening a thousand-year-old prince seem a lot easier than ruling an entire kingdom where everyone hates her very nature.
And her choices won’t come without consequences.
————————————————————————————–
Excerpt The first time the high king sent hunters after me, I terrified them, drowning them in the depths of their worst nightmare. I can get rather bored in the forest, and their fear entertained me for a day or two.
The second time, I was less kind. Instead of a handful of men, he sent two dozen. Half returned home, none of them whole.
I am no simple beast foreign kings can summon at their leisure. I am no weakling to bow to the will of another court.
I am a nightmare.
Half a nightmare, if one wishes to be technical about it. No one does, however. The folk like to conveniently forget that I am part gentry.
Half a nightmare. Half a child of the Court of Sunlight. Entirely wild.
I didn’t expect a third assault. I should have. I may have met Rydekar Bane only once, but it’s enough to understand what kind of king ascended to the throne of Tenebris.
A single rider enters my woods this time. Just one man on a pale horse. Yet I bristle. The stems growing inside my veins, sprouting out of my pores, crawl along my arm, protectively wrapping me under their thorns. I feel the feathers on my shoulders flutter.
One rider on a pale horse, yet I am afraid.
It isn’t in my nature to fear anything. My instincts aren’t prepared for it. Am I to flee like prey? Am I to remain to await my fate? Prepare to fight?
I’m so lost I end up doing nothing at all. I’m still perched atop the sturdiest branch of the ash tree I’ve claimed as my home when he appears, standing alone.
Rydekar.
Somehow, I never expected that he’d come in person. Not here.
The first time we met, it was in the dazzling light of the Crystal Keep, right at the core of Court of Sunlight. I was but a child, but already, I knew a predator when I saw one. I knew a fellow monster, too.
A hundred years have passed, and nothing has changed at all. He wears layers of black, fashioned in a parody of a court outfit. He cannot fool me. His clothes are light and easy to move in, yet reinforced with spells and iron casts. This is a set of armor if I’ve ever seen one.
His hair falls in waves, coating him in a golden halo. Of the number of weapons in his arsenal, his beauty is perhaps the most insidious. From the way he smiles at me as he saunters, there’s no doubt that he knows how to make use of it.
“I see you’re tired of sending underlings for me to play with,” I say lightly, eyes closed.
Rydekar chuckles. “They tell me you’re a tricky beast to hunt, precious. I thought I’d give it a try. I rather like the chase.”
I don’t doubt it. “What do you want, Bane?”
I will not call him king, highness, or anything of the sort. His dominion ends at the border of my woods.
Rydekar is lord in the south, on unseelie territory. The Darker Woods are on seelie land, and answer to no one.
No one except me.
“What does any fae want?”
“A beating heart for dinner? Endless, boundless entertainment? No, I know.” I glance down at him. “Better clothes. Well, I don’t share my tailor. Find your own.”
His laugh is music, another trap meant to endear him to me.
“Power, Rissa. I want more power.”
I roll my eyes. “And you’ve come here to seek it?” I gesture around me, to the peaceful clearing.
“Come down, precious.” His voice is sickly sweet, wrapping around me like a cloak.
He aims to seduce me, and if I were any weaker, he might manage, too.
Weaker, or stupider.
“I’m quite content up here, thank you, Bane.”
He sighs with a feigned sadness that makes me smile. “I would prefer not to be forced to make you obey me, Rissa, precious.”
I laughs so hard I nearly fall off the branch. “Make me?”
No one has ever made me do anything, not as a child, and certainly not now. Some tried. Pixie nurses, imp maids and an endless stream of tutors hired to bleed the wilderness out of me.
That I now live alone in the woods shows just how proficient they were in their endeavor.
“Make you,” he repeats, ever so softly. “I would prefer for us to have a partnership, if we could. But I’ll get what I’m here for either way.”
“Will you, now?” I practically purr.
He’s so very delightful. I haven’t had this much fun in an age.
I do leap down from the tree, if only because I want him to regret asking for it.
He saw me as a child in the Court of Sunlight, back when I hid the nightmare within me. There was only a hint of me showing through, back then.
Now, I’m another creature.
In the light of the moon, my complexion is sky blue, like that of a drowned corpse. The feathers grow right out of my shoulders, like the twisted twigs on my arms and legs.
Back then, I wore long sleeves, hiding what I am as best I could. I’m dressed in a midnight spider silk so fine he might even see through it in this light.
Rydekar’s violet eyes take me in, from my dirty, bare feet to my eyes, stopping on every feather, every thorn.
Then he smiles, takes one step forward, and snatches my hand before I can recoil. “There you are, precious.”
I’m so stunned I let go of my power, and feel the nightmare drain out of my skin. My hand is as warm as his, and has returned to the shade it dons when I’m not defending myself. It’s just like his. The twigs and flowers have retreated back inside my veins, and my feathers still.
In this moment, I hate him. He’s taken my shield without any effort.
“What do you want?” I repeat. This time, it sounds like a threat.
Rydekar is done smiling. He’s dropped the pretense, his eyes flashing with a raw need. I am getting a glimpse of the monster beneath his mask. “You,” he tells me. “Where you belong.”
I snatch my hand back.
He dares? He dares!
I’m about to lash out, pushing every drop of magic in my blood to maim him.
He concludes his insult. “On the throne of Denarhelm.”
“You’re a spineless, worthless waste of space.”
He shrugs. “I’ve heard worse.”
“Get out of my woods. I’ll gladly flay you alive if you stay.” And I mean every word, though killing him here would start a war.
“Unlikely, but I’d enjoy your attempt.”
Attempt? I could—and would—end him with little effort. I imagine freezing him in place and extracting every drop of pain and agony from his mind.
“Alfheimr is raising an army, Rissa. Now that the strongest among us have left, we’re vulnerable. Hundreds of thousands of men are arming themselves, and they’ll march on your kingdom first. It’s easy pickings. I could claim it tomorrow if I so wished.”
“There is no throne of Denarhelm,” I reply, gritting my teeth.
The seelie kingdom has long been divided into the thirteen minor courts. The last high queen ruling over them all left the throne vacant for good reasons. While I do have her blood in my veins, even suggesting that I could claim it is preposterous—and cruel.
The Court of Sunlight didn’t even want me to take my father’s place upon his passing. I hadn’t harbored any desire to rule, but the rejection had cut deep.
The thirteen courts would never bow to me.
I could make them, if I so wish. But I don’t.
My lips hitch up an inch at the thought of forcing the thirteen courts to their knees.
I’m so lost in my fantasy, I don’t see the hulking, slender man bending down to me until he whispers in my ear. “A divided kingdom without a leader is weak. You will fall. You will fail. You will all die without my kindness, little girl.”
He expects me to falter, shiver, and drop my gaze to the ground, like the flock of gentry buzzing around him.
My eyes widen in feigned dismay. “Kindness? Why did no one think to tell me you had any?”
I have to allow him this one concession: Rydekar is fun to tease.
He doesn’t even smile. I don’t think anyone has taunted him. “I have none. You will beg nonetheless.”
I just may, in his dreams. And in my nightmares.
“Get out of here,” I repeat.
This time, to my surprise, he complies, walking back to his silver-white warhorse. “I’ve said my piece. When the time is right, send word. I’ll arrange for your coronation.”
I’m confused and out of sorts. He’s leaving, after all this?
I don’t understand him. What would he have to gain if I do as he wishes? Wanting a stronger enemy in the north doesn’t make sense.
He looks back at me, and smiles one last time. “You were right, you know. I’ll steal your tailor.”
That’s a promise and a threat.
I don’t doubt he knows I make my own clothes. There’s no one else around, and nothing much else to do with my time.
Without another word, the infuriating high king of the unseelie is gone.

Excerpt Can I ask you something else?
Shoot.
Did the crowd swarming the hotel and bus bother you?
Is he kidding me? Of course, it bothered me.
Women–and I’m talking hundreds of them–mobbed the front and back entrance of the hotel, clamoring not just for their favorite band, but for the elusive Jasper Diamond himself.
They were crazed. They overran the bus. It was like those videos you see of when The Beatles first came to America. Girls were screaming and crying and thrusting not only band t-shirts out, but their tits too.
It was so insane that eventually the guys did step off the bus just so Adalyn and I could safely get into the hotel without being mobbed.
I knew they were famous. We wouldn’t be here if they weren’t. But I hadn’t witnessed much of it until now. I’ve mostly been hidden away from it, off with Adalyn doing our own thing. This was eye-opening in the worst and best possible way.
Why do you ask?
You made a face, and it was the first time on the tour it’s happened like that. Where fans swarmed us like that, I mean.
Are you referring to your harem of obsessed women? Why on earth would that bother me?
The message bubble appears almost instantly, and I roll to my side, my phone clutched in both hands, an unstoppable smile still clinging dumbly to my face.
I like this way too much to stop.
Even stupid banter and easy back and forth is better than evil eyes and long, lingering stares that make me simultaneously want to throw up and crawl out of my skin.
And because it’s late, and I’m so f-ing tired, and he texted first, and I feel like being snarky, and it’s taking him forever to reply, and I obviously need a million excuses, I write, In fact, why aren’t you out with any of them? I’m sure they’d love another chance at The Jasper Diamond. Sexy man and supreme rock god.
The dots dance before they disappear only to start again and disappear once more before they do their thing one final time and then his words appear on my screen. Not interested in any of them. And I’d prefer it if you’d call me sexy god and supreme rock man. Has a more realistic touch to it, don’t you think?
I snort out a laugh, rolling my eyes.
Seems a bit arrogant and inaccurate to me. I’m not sure I’d call you sexy god. Sexy man was already pushing it, but maybe you should run that one by some of those girls who were screaming for you earlier. They might have a different opinion than mine.
Don’t want their opinion. Yours is the only one I want, and the only one that matters.
I stare at his words for longer than I should, doing everything I can not to read into them. Rolling onto my stomach, I prop myself up with my elbows, clutching my phone just a little too tightly. I don’t know what to say to that. What to write back.
He is a sexy god. Insanely so. Everything about him sets my blood on fire.
Those girls will be devastated to hear that.
He replies instantly, and that flutter in my belly spreads, shooting sparks across my skin. If I didn’t know you better, I’d think you were jealous.
Maddeningly.
Why would I be?
You have no reason to be. They’re just girls.
And I’m just the nanny.
You’re not just the nanny. You’re my nanny, Viola.

Excerpt #2 Josiah’s lips pressed against hers. It was better than she’d remembered. His scent, his heat… She needed a moment to forget about everything and escape to a time when it had only been her and Josiah, and his promises of forever.
A low groan rumbled in his chest as his tongue swept the seam of her lips. At the heated sensation flushing through her, Hannah startled, jerking back with a broken gasp. This was not how Josiah kissed her eight years ago. Her fingers trembled as she raised them to her lips, eyes wide with surprise. She’d never experienced anything like this…
A blasphemy flew from his mouth before he could bite it back, and another quickly followed because of the first.
Her shocked stare grew as Josiah ran a shaking hand over his mouth. “I’m sorry, Hannah…”
She wasn’t sure if he was apologizing for the kiss or the curse—maybe both. “Is this…” Her cheeks heated with embarrassment, but she had to know. “Is this the way all Englishers kiss?” Hannah wished she could say it was unpleasant. Surely, it must be a sin to touch another with your tongue, if for no other reason that the startling pleasure it gave her couldn’t be pure. The places she felt his kiss, they weren’t permissible for him to touch, and yet it made her ache there terribly. The discomfort deep inside her made Hannah want to beg him for relief from something she understood nothing about.
“Yeah, I guess it is…” he answered gruffly.
“Ya kiss a lot of girls like that, then, Josiah Troyer?” It mattered not that she had no right to be angry or jealous…
Josiah regarded her cautiously, seeming to contemplate his response. “I suppose I have. More than I care to discuss with ya.” There it was again, that slip of his accent he seemed so determined to hide…

Synopsis Their prom night ended in a jail cell with forty of their closest friends. But that’s hardly the worst thing that happened to them…
When the principal announces prom is canceled this year, senior Riley Hart is determined to save it. Armed with little more than her own enthusiasm, she ends up working closely with Owen Locklear, who is more than completely off-limits. Because he’s the boyfriend of her ex-BFF, Catherine Reed. Still, Owen knows Riley better than almost anyone, and his charming ideas for turning the prom upside-down and backward win Riley over.
Catherine is willing to join Owen and Riley on the prom committee, but only because her legacy as prom queen is at stake. She’s already suffocating under the weight of her parents’ expectations for after senior year, and compared to that, ensuring prom happens should be easy. At least until everything starts to go wrong.
First they lose their deposit. Then they book a band full of octogenarians. And lose their venue… Twice.
Riley will have an unforgettable teenage experience, damn it, if it’s the last thing she does…

RILEY – TWO MONTHS UNTIL PROM
I turn the corner and glance over my shoulder, hoping to catch another glimpse of Owen’s familiar dark brown hair poking above the crowd. When I recognize his spiky-messy style, my breath catches in my chest. With a wave to Catherine, he breaks away and trails behind me, leaving half a hallway between us. I veer off into an empty stairwell and wait.
Eventually, he makes his appearance, towering over me in the cramped space. Although he’s not as big as the basketball players, Owen stands at least six inches taller than me, which means I’m always looking up at him when we cross paths in school. We met during recess on the first day of kindergarten, when we decided to join up with Catherine and fight the imaginary monsters hiding under the playground equipment. Years later, Catherine has found other things to do with her free time, but Owen and I still fight monsters together—virtual ones, in our favorite video game.
“Haven’t caught up with you on Q-Chat lately,” he says, breaking into his familiar wide smile, one that could take down the entire cheerleading squad. Though it’s a struggle, I manage to remain upright. But just barely.
“Sorry, but I’ve been busy.” I speak too fast and nearly drop the bag of tech club pamphlets I printed last night. Talking to Owen in real life always seems to throw me off. It’s much easier to pretend I don’t have a crush on him when we’re battling aliens online.
Faking disappointment, he shakes his head. “Priorities, Riley. Immortal Quest released an update yesterday with an all-new army of zombies. They suck your life force away, and I really need your shields for protection.” His blue eyes brighten as he steps closer. “C’mon, Evil Skater Girl.”
I raise my finger to my lips. “Shhh! We promised never to call each other by our Quest names in school!” No one needs to know about my secret virtual superhero persona. At eighteen, I’m practically a grandma in the Immortal Quest world.
“Yeah, you’re right.” He backs away, darting his eyes toward the hallway, probably checking for his girlfriend. “Just…log on once in a while, okay? Keep me company.”
“Doesn’t Catherine do enough of that?” The words rush from my mouth before I think about them. I really don’t want to know what he and Catherine do when they’re alone together, but for some reason I can’t resist bringing her up, if only to remind myself that he’s in love with the girl who tossed me aside without a second thought way back in middle school.
Owen flashes his smile again. “No one does it like you, ESG.” He hikes his backpack higher on his shoulder and turns to go. Before I call him out on the name thing again, he says, “By the way, did you hear anything about prom being canceled?”
“What? Is that even possible?”
He breaks out in a small smile. “According to Cat, it is.” His smile falters before he picks it back up. “So, you haven’t heard anything?”
“No, but if I do, I’ll let you know.”
With a wave, he ducks around the corner and out of sight. I count to ten before continuing on to my locker.

Synopsis After four months, Tia Peterson has been found. The woman who was kidnapped and trafficked has escaped hell only to realize that her nightmare isn’t over. Her story has hit the media and every reporter and news outlet wants to know the gory details; things she doesn’t want to speak of ever again.
But then she meets Trent Reddick.
The former Navy SEAL doesn’t ask too many questions, never pressures her to talk about what happened while she was held captive in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. He just wants to help her get her life back. But the more time they spend together, the stronger Trent’s feelings for Tia become…and that scares him. If he doesn’t find a way to rein in his emotions, be the friend she needs instead of the man he wants to be for her, he may lose her for good.
—————————————————————————-
—————————————————————————-
Excerpt #2 Tia is asleep, huddled in a tight ball, and I wonder why she didn’t throw the blanket that is hanging off the back of the couch over herself. I contemplate what to do. Leave her here for the night? Carry her to her bedroom…or into my room, because that is where she may end up anyway if she has a nightmare? No, I can’t take her to my bedroom. What if she wakes and wonders how the hell she got there?
I am mulling over my decision when I see her eyes spring open. She doesn’t freak out that I’m here, that she suddenly has a couch-mate. She just looks at me, at my eyes, then my mouth. Her breathing starts to quicken, and I wonder if she is on the verge of a panic attack. Maybe she had a nightmare, and it’s only starting to hit her now.
“Tia…are you okay?”
Tia inches over to me, her bare thigh brushing against my jeans. And then without breaking eye contact she swings her leg around until she’s straddling me. The move is so sudden that my hands remain frozen in mid-air, not on the couch or her waist, but just out there. She buries her head in my neck, wraps her arms around me and I pull her against my chest. I’ve held her before, but it’s always been after one of her nightmares or when she was emotionally distraught and sobbing.
But she isn’t crying right now. She doesn’t seem scared. Fear is not what I saw in her eyes right before she crawled into my lap. She looked at me as if she wanted me. I haven’t been with a woman in a while, but I still know what it looks like, what it feels like to be desired. My cock swiftly swells in my pants and I wonder if she can feel it. She is only wearing a thin pair of shorts and pressed firmly against my erection. I need her to talk to me, to get my mind off the fact that only a few layers of clothing separate us.
“I missed you,” she says. Her warm breath on my neck, the touch of her lips feathering my heated flesh, makes me shiver and I struggle not to let my hands drop and claim her waist.
She missed me. I had only been gone a few hours and she…
Her lips aren’t just hovering over my skin now, but trailing light kisses along my neck, causing my heart to race. With any other woman at this point, I would have flipped her to her back, ripped away her shorts and buried myself inside her. But I could never do that with Tia.
“Did you miss me?” she asks between pecks. I feel her tongue accompany the last kiss she strategically places just below my jaw and I groan. It is uncontrollable and the second she hears it I feel her pelvis grind against my cock.
“Tia, do you know what you’re doing?”
“Yes. I know exactly what I’m doing…and what I want,” she says, sitting back and looking me dead in the eye.
I eradicate the space between us and take her mouth hard, smashing my lips against hers and she kisses me back with equal intensity. My hands surrender and I grip her ass. I miraculously find the words, “Is this okay?”
“Yeah,” she moans into my mouth. I squeeze her perfect round ass and rub her against me. I could easily come like this and from the sounds she’s making, those low whimpers and groans, she could get off as well.
“You feel so good,” I say.
“Make me forget, Trent. Make them go away,” she murmurs.
It’s like someone took a bucket of water and threw it at me…at my cock, in particular. I sit back and she stares at me beneath hooded eyes. She looks beautiful and ready to be fucked. But this can’t happen, not now, maybe never. “What’s the matter?” she asks, her arms falling to her sides.
“I want you, Tia. You have no idea how much I want you. But not like this.” She scoots off me and covers herself with the throw blanket from the back of the couch. I rest my hand over hers. “I don’t want to be just a distraction. Maybe some guys would be okay with that, but I’m not one of them, and I never will be.”

Genre: Adult Romantic Suspense

Synopsis After getting trapped in a remote cave, two strangers must work together to survive while being hunted by a ruthless killer…
Life is full of surprises, rescue swimmer Owen Grayson knows that better than anyone, especially when he’s forced to take an indefinite military leave and return home to pick up the pieces of his dad’s latest mistake. As Owen struggles to settle back into his roots, he is called to a remote cave where he discovers the mysterious death of his uncle wasn’t an accident at all. As the clues begin to unravel, it becomes apparent that the cave is hiding secrets worth killing for… and everyone on site has a target on their back.
Coming off a bad break up and an even worse few days, Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Sadie Hart is brought in to excavate human remains found deep in the treacherous mountains of Berry Springs, in a cave rumored to be haunted, nonetheless. When her team stumbles upon a dead body before they even reach the cave, Sadie quickly realizes this is going to be no ordinary job—especially when she meets a particularly bull-headed Adonis who claims to be related to the victim.
A storm hits, trapping Sadie and Owen inside the cave with nothing but a flashlight and a small backpack with provisions… and someone who wants them dead. As the odds stack up against them, Sadie begins to fear she and Owen will become the next pile of bones found deep in the catacombs of Crypts Cavern…
THE CAVE is a standalone romantic suspense novel.

Excerpt #2 OWEN WATCHED DR. Sadie Hart pop open the trunk of her SUV and give orders to her team as they pulled packs and bags from the back.
He wasn’t sure what he expected when Colson had told him they’d called in a doctor to excavate the bones, but it definitely wasn’t the steely-eyed, brick-balled, smoking-hot stunner standing before him now.
He guessed she was somewhere in her early thirties—which was his first shocker—with dark, hooded, almond-shaped eyes that were as skeptical as they were beautiful. Chestnut hair against smooth, pale skin and a face with defined, strong lines that seemed to fit her personality. And the sexiest pair of pouty, come-fuck-me lips he’d ever seen in his life. Based on the worn khaki tactical pants and scuffed leather hiking boots, Sadie was no stranger to the woods. And, based on the curves in the back of her pants and the T-shirt that stretched against generous breasts, she wasn’t unaccustomed to getting looks from men. But the way she carried herself, the squared shoulders, no-nonsense braid of brown hair that ran down her back—occasionally falling over her shoulder, remedied by an annoyed flick of her hand—and look of determination in her eyes told him that she’d fought for her title as doctor, almost as much as she’d fought for the respect that came along with that title. A bit prickly on the initial impression, and perhaps one of those women who’d cut you at the balls just to prove she could? No doubt about it.
He watched her shrug on a blue backpack that was half her weight, and sweep her braid to the side.
No-nonsense.
Her gaze flickered to him again, as it had done a dozen times since she’d stepped out of her SUV. Subtle, stolen glances laced with questions—or interest, perhaps. He wasn’t sure.
But something inside him wanted to find out.
